Ment was the one monitoring the shop at the moment, which was a change of pace in the shop. Generally Moanna had been the one to monitor things while Olivia sent Ment on various shop related errands, but today Olivia had to do some personal errands of her own, so she decided to handle it both leaving Ment and Moanna there. Moanna had wanted to stay in the back today, something about wanting to avoid this boy with orange-red hair who he inevitably figured was Tango. So there he was, left to his own devices upfront. It was awesome.
Ment scanned around, his freckled face moving from side to side as he looked for something to do. He hadn't been upfront in some time, and the knowledge he once had as a child as to what needed done and how things were to be properly placed had faded on him. Moanna's presence had made their lives easier, and Olivia hiring two other people to help her as well gave him more time to himself, not that he had been using it productively.
"Slow day is slow," Ment muttered to himself, leaning over at the cash register in the middle back of the store front, his elbows laying on the counter and his face slowly coming to a rest on top of his hands. Things needed to happen, he was already becomming bored.

What he probably didn't expect was that a child would walk into the shop. A very... odd child. He had white hair and pale skin. He was also wearing tinted sunglasses, as if regular ones weren't enough. Maybe he had problems with his eyes. But he was CUTE, if not all that fashionable. A white-and-black faux-fur lined hoodie with the hood down, baggy dark jeans, and white tennis-shoes with the laces tied into a double-bow. He was carrying a backpack with a flame motif, and a small book inside. There was also an ear or paw of some beloved stuffed animal sticking out from the top.
"Umm..."
His voice was cute too. Shy and soft and high-pitched, even though he was most definitely a he.
"Is... is anyone here?"
He sounded a bit unsure of himself, and rather introverted... but his gaze [or at least his head] was moving all around as he took in the merchandise.

Ment's head perked up at the sound of the door's bell jingling. Someone had entered the shop just as he had been thinking to himself how boring things were getting. It was time to work his magic and sell another person a vial of incense. As he looked up and spread a friendly smile across his freckled face, Ment noticed that the voice of the individual who entered was awfully young. Once he caught sight of him he understood why; it was a child, and the child had brilliant white hair, very much like his own.
"Oh... Hello," Ment said, stepping out from behind the counter where the register sat. The wooden floor creaked beneath him as he inspected the little boy who had entered. He was so adorable, but so abnormal looking. Almost as if he was albino, or something else...
"Did you get lost?" Ment asked.
Usually when children came wandering into the shop it was for one of two reasons: The child was lost and looking to see if maybe their parent was inside the shop or the child was once purchased... from the shop. Ment wasn't sure which it was at the moment. He didn't smell any fragrance from the child, but he had been deceived before.

"No..." He turned toward the other, and gave a sweet little smile. "I.. ummm... actually came to.. to uh..."
Setting the backpack down, he withdrew a rather sizable bag, and pulled out a fresh hundred-dollar-bill out of it, before putting it back. He turned over to the boy, and just handed him the money.
"What... can I get with this?" he asked, stepping back and giving a soft giggle. "I'm not... all that wealthy, but... but I want something for my room, since I just moved here, and... Well... I need something that will go through the whole house, and smell really interesting... Can I get something like that for what I gave you?"

Ment listened as the little boy talked and rose a brow. He had never had a child come into the shop before as a customer. Usually his customers consisted of eccentric men, spouses looking for gifts, or women who were attracted to the smell of pretty things. A child for a customer was a rather new experience, and one who didn't know what they were doing was even newer.
Looking down at what the boy had pulled out, Ment quirked his head to the side, his solitary streak of red hair swishing across his eyes and resting on the opposite side. The child had pulled out quite a bit of money. Ment wasn't even sure he could make change for that, but if the little boy was buying something that would fill his whole home, it'd probably be on the expensive side.
"Well we have all sorts of interesting incense here at Solace Scents. We have incense that smells like flowers, fruit, baked goods, among other things," Ment said, attempting to adjust himself between how he conducts a sale and how he talks to a child. He wasn't sure which he should be using at the moment, "Do you have any idea what you might like? And particular ingredients?"

"S-something... that smells like dark..." His eyes grew a bit wistful [not that Ment could see them] as he sighed, and looked over out the window. "Dark, and... magic. Like magic. Err... I don't know how to describe that, exactly..."
He looked a bit lost at his own description, and appeared to be reaching for some sort of definition he could translate into a particular ingredient. Biting his lip as he thought, his foot tapped, and his head canted to one side.
"Like... fire." he murmured, finally starting to get it into his head. "Magic... and fire... and darkness. Is there something like that?"
Looking up, his smile turned to a hopeful grin. If the boy had possessed anything resembling a tail... it would have been wagging by now.

Ment quirked his head at the interesting child as he described for him the ingredients he was looking for. Magic, darkness and fire. It wasn't something he usually heard people describe when looking for a particular incense. He had gotten things like 'fruity', 'heavy', and even 'sensual', but darkness, fire and magic? That was a new one.
"Uhm... We may have something like that." Ment said unsurely, but motioned for Ben to follow him anyway.
"My name is Ment, by the way. I just realized I didn't properly introduce myself," He said with a small giggle as he took Ben to another side of the room, towards the back of the store where they kept the heavier smelling incense. "We don't usually get children as customers, at least ones I don't know. So you kinda took me by surprised."
Ment gave the child a sincere smile and placed a hand on one of the back tables thoughtfully, "We keep our heavier incense back here. Usually they're what people look for when they describe something as dark. Let's see what we can find for you."
Picking up one incense after the other, Ment took thoughtful whiffs of them. He didn't want to overload the child with a menagerie of smells incase it gave the poor dear a headache and instead narrowed the selection down to 5 different ones. He pick the first up and opened the top holding it out for Ben to whiff.
"This one is called Your Majesty. It has musk in it, and roses with some amber," Ment said smiling.

The boy grinned as he walked along, and gave a rather courtly bow in reply to the introduction.
"My name is Benvolio Arrikanez - but call me Ben! It is a pleasure to meet you, Ment. That is a wonderful name, and I'm curious to know what it means..."
He caught up after the bow, and grinned again. "As I said before - I'm rather new here... I'm sorry for just coming in like that... Didn't mean to take you by surprise."
After he'd made his apology to the odd male, he was shown one of the incenses for sale. On tip-toes, and leaning forward, the white-haired lad took a small sniff. He sneezed shortly after, shaking his head and sneezing again.
"I'm... I'm sorry - That one doesn't work. Please don't be mad! I can't help it!"

"Benvolio is an interesting name," Ment said with a smile, though he didn't ask why he was name it once the boy insisted upon being called Ben. Usually one made up nicknames because they're not comfortable in their name yet, or at least that's what he thought. He could be wrong, but he smiled all the same before responding to Ben's inquiry about his own name.
"Well. It's a play on words, you see. Ment sounds like mint and when I was uhm... born, I had this white and red hair, and my freckles are red and it reminded my mother of peppermint," He smiled. Though it wasn't exactly true you see, and Ment felt bad about giving the poor child a lie, but Ben would never believe that he was born from incense in a cup. No one buts others like him did.
When Ben sneezed and shook his head to the incense Ment's smile fell a little. It was natural for people not to like something, but for some reason Ment really took Ben's disapproval of his choice to heart. Perhaps the next one would be more suiting to the boy's tastes. Putting back Your Majesty, Ment grabbed another one in a rich blue color.
He pulled off the top and held it out for Ben to whiff, a mixture of lilies, fruit and another type of musk. It lingered in the air gingerely, and was a lighter scent than the other was, "This one's called Faerie Dust."

Ben looked down a bit, and seemed like he was about to cry. The fact that Ment wasn't all that happy anymore really seemed to cut him deeply. Perhaps the boy was an empath? Or something similar to that... It appeared as though he was feeling Ment's disappointment, but to an extreme. He sniffled. Wiped his eyes.
"I'm sorry... I'm really, really sorry." he said again... before taking a brief whiff of the other one he offered... shaking his head again. "Gods, I'm SO sorry. So, so sorry."
He looked up at Ment, and this time was actually crying. On Ment's behalf, probably. So cute and sad, it might make Ment feel a bit better to know that the boy was terribly upset that he was upsetting Ment in return.
