“Kate Hart: Rider”
by Sarah
Katelyn Hart is an adopted white child in a family of African Americans; no one has a clue where she came from. Her adoptive father may be a lawyer but he gets drunk every single night. He is very abusive and since Kate is the oldest child out of 5 she does her best to protect the youngsters and takes blows for them. She is more tomboy than anything and is not afraid to speak her mind. She gets great grades in school and only has very few friends. One day she was hiking through the woods for a science fieldtrip and she wanders off alone out of pure boredom. She discovers a dark purple, dark blue, and black scaled dragon. At first she’s frightened but then a voice inside her head says it’s perfectly fine. The dragon leads her to a place where dragons are used for fighting off enemies and are practically pets, Cananaduh. For once in her life she feels like she’s home, and learns about her family history as Dragon Riders. Her father was the greatest Dragon Rider and Warrior of all time and she now wants to live in his footsteps. She bends the rules and become’s the youngest girl Dragon Rider and wants to be a warrior just as well. With help from her older “coach” Garret who isn’t too pleased with his job of helping a little brat. When the opposing side finds out the Greatest Dragon Rider’s daughter is alive and riding just like her father they attack and want to take her prisoner just like her father. A war breaks out and of course her determined mind puts her in danger but either way she wears her uniform of Dawns (her dragon) shed scales for a vest and mini skirt, black leggings, and leather gloves and boots and battles with her life on the line.
is this a good idea?
