Week Eleven has been a unique week in general, I held off on writing this weeks installment for a reason, and turned out I was right. So here is what stood out for me.

1. Brad Childress is out!- There was word that the Minnesota Vikings weren't going to make a head coach change till after the season ended, but the organization took all that it could stand, and it could stand no more. After being swept by the Green Bay Packers on the season with a disappointing 31-3 loss, following another rough loss to division rival Chicago last week, and following the whole Randy Moss fiasco, it came as no surprise that Minnesota might fire the head coach, who just last year came just one game away from a Superbowl appearance. Also the success of Jason Garrett the Cowboys intern head coach coming off his second win probably got the Vikings interested to see if they can bounce back with a new coach as Dallas has. So now sports columnists are asking the question, will the Vikings also cut ties with Brett Favre? Brett came back to win a Superbowl, that is obviously not going to happen now. An Intern head coach means that the team is looking towards the future, which at QB Brett Favre is not. Do you let him finish out the season and give him a chance to ride off into the sunset with an attempt to get some dignity back? Or cut him now, start looking for the QB of the future, and get Favre to finish his career and streak a little early?

2. Double flub by Manning Brothers- When your team is in a pinch, two QB's who are at the top of the list for Quarterbacks you would like to have lead your team to victory are Peyton and Eli. Peyton arguably the best QB in the league today, and Eli who pulled off the improbably come from behind victory in the Superbowl over undefeated New England. But Sunday was not ment to be for either. Down by three the Colts marched into field goal range for Adam Vinateri, all Peyton had to do was make sure he didn't take any chances that could ruin their shot to tie and at least take the game into overtime. But alas, the come from behind victory where the Colts were down 31-14 at one point would not happen as Peyton threw 3 INT, the last one the most costly as it ended what little chance the Colts had to win. As for Eli, down by 7 and on fourth down, he scrambled for a first, into Eagles territory, but fumbled the ball as he dived forward instead of sliding. The Giants Defense did a pretty good job maintaining a Michael Vick who tore up the Washington Redskins, showing that yes, Vick and the Eagles are beatable, but Eli's fumble in the 4th ended their shot to win it all. Don't get me wrong, Peyton is still one of thee, if not thee best QB in the league, and Eli, while at times inconsistent, has still pulled off many improbably victories, but how odd is it that on the same day, with the game on the line, both QB's would have a turnover at the end of the game being so costly?

Thursday night games?- Many people enjoy the Thursday night games, others think it's an unnecessary hassle. Before their week 10 match up against the Falcons, Ray Lewis spoke out how having that short of a week doesn't give players the proper amount of time between games to heal, and becomes a huge disadvantage for the visiting teams since they only have two days to properly prepare for their opponents. Perhaps that can be the reason why the Ravens came up just short against the Falcons, but what about the Bears and their 16-0 victory over Miami while on the road? Looked to me like Chicago was properly prepared to beat the Dolphins in their stadium. It wasn't the prettiest of games, but it was a win regardless. If you ask me, I'm not in favor of the Thursday night games. I enjoy having the Thanksgiving games in Detroit and Dallas every year, but that's tradition. Because it works fine for that one week doesn't mean we should have Thursday night games every Thursday night for the entire second half of the season. Granted it gives some of us football fans something to sink our teeth into while we wait till Sunday's action, but I prefer to keep it simple. One Monday night game, every other game on Sunday. But on the bright side for the teams who play that Thursday night, it may be a short week going into the game, but after that they get a nice long week before their next games. Which from the looks of it seemed like both Baltimore and Atlanta took advantage of.

Playoff Picture!- Only six weeks before playoffs, six more games before we hit the post season. And while some teams are in a comfortable spot leading other teams in the playoff hunt, other teams have already seen their season come to an end. NFL Network has already painted the playoff picture if the season where to end right now. In the AFC the Jets would finish first and have home field throughout the playoffs, with the Ravens in second, the Jacksonville Jaguars would surprisingly be in third as the AFC South Champions, and Kansas City would slip in as the #4 team. Leaving the Patriots and Steelers as #5 and 6 respectively, leaving last season's AFC champions Indianapolis out of the picture. NFC wise the Falcons would finish #1 with the Eagles coming in at #2, Chicago would finish 3rd and Seattle would wrap up the West and #4 spot. It gets interesting after that since many teams are at 7-3 and due to tie breakers would miss the playoffs. Currently we would have the Packers be #5 and the defending Superbowl champions New Orleans Saints claiming the last spot, leaving Tampa Bay out of the picture and the N.Y. Giants one game behind them. Many teams we expected to be in the playoff topic of conversation at this point. Others I didn't expect at all, including Kansas City and Jacksonville. But a lot can still happen between now and January. Better buckle up, it's going to be a wild ride to the finish.

PLAYERS SHOUT OUT!
Aaron Rodgers (QB Green Bay Packers)- Their 28-24 win over Minnesota was sweet, but their 31-3 dominating victory in Minnesota was the icing on the cake for the Packers against their former QB Brett Favre and division Rival. Rodgers outshined Favre in all aspects of the game completing 22 of 31 passes for 301 yards and 4 Touchdowns. If people in Green Bay haven't forgotten about Favre yet, they have now.

James Harrison (LB Pittsburgh Steelers)- Yeah Ben Roethlisberger had a great day for the Steelers as they reminded the Raiders that they are not yet an AFC elite, but it was Harrison's performance on defense yesterday, 5 solo tackles, 2 sacks, an interception and forced fumble, he led the Steelers defense in a dominant fashion they needed to have to build up their self esteem after their disappointing loss to New England last week.
