Deciding to post here because I had actually just gotten into a discussion with a friend of mine on this exact topic.
The way that I personally judge a person is based on their honesty and their loyalty.
I don't so much care about what they can do for me. I don't care about what kind of lifestyle they live or the intelligence of their actions. If I can trust them to have trust in me, that's all I really need. That's why to me a man who would perform a multitude of perceived good deeds cannot be worth more to me than a man who would perform a multitude of perceived evil deeds if he cannot be honest and transparent.
Morals, intelligence, creativity, they are all subjective and popular opinion on each changes as time passes by. Honesty is objective and remains important no matter what. You are either honest or dishonest and regardless of what kind of person you are, you can earn my respect with that simple ideal.
