This is a private roleplay between Enlei [danse-hexe] and Xiu [Honeybii].

Setting:

Xiu is minding his crafts stall in the market and meets Enlei before proceeding to teach her about kite making.

The day was absolutely beautiful. It was the kind of clear crisp day that only comes after a storm. Xiu wasn't used to autumn weather being so lovely and he was bound and determined to use it to his full enjoyment. After much deliberation, he decided to go to market. And it wasn't just for any market day either. He wasn't going to sell produce, but crafts instead. It may have seemed a bit frivolous to go out to sell paper kites, but he was still feeling a little depressed after the incident with Sakn and he needed a little pick-me-up.

By midday Xiu was set up in the temple's usual stall with all his supplies hung in an orderly manner. Kites of every different color and design hung around him. A huge, vibrant red phoenix design dominated most and was so realistic it looked like it would burn a person to a crisp in seconds. It was his best work and he was very proud of it.

For the moment, things were a bit slow and Xiu busied himself with making a new kite. It was a simplistic thing, a fish, though no less colorful. Humming softly to himself, he painted until the time a customer came up.

It was a cool day, perfect for a stroll. Enlei yawned, then put aside her school books- it was time to go stretch her legs a bit.

Outside, the air still smelled like rain, and Enlei liked it. But where to, now? She didn't particularly have a destination, she'd just wanted to get out of the house for a bit. It'd have been such a shame to waste such a lovely afternoon inside.

Humming a random tune, the Lunarian made up her mind to just follow the path, and flip a coin if there were a fork in the road. Eventually she ended up at the market. Amongst all the voices and bright colours something stood out- a large red... thing. Enlei made her way closer, shuddering slightly as she pushed her way through the crowd- so many icky sticky bodies- until she was standing right in front of the red thing, which appeared to be a phoenix. Alongside it were many other kites, of various designs, though the phoenix was clearly designed to be the centrepiece, and she could see why. So much effort must have been put into constructing it! As impressive as it was, though, one particular kite caught her eye- a bright blue-and-silver octopus-shaped one.

"Helloooooo," she called out, not seeing anyone around to man the booth. "Is there anyone here?"

Xiu was on his hands and knees, looking beneath a tarp in search of some paint. He knew he'd brought some. Question was, where was it. Grumbling under his breath he shifted around, not carrying that he was getting his clothing all dusty and dirty.

The suddenly cheerful voice startled him and he jumped, bang his head on the edge of the table he'd set up. "OW!" The youth whined, rubbing the back of his head, wincing when he felt a bump already forming.

"Er, I mean, hello?" He called back curiously, slowly rising this time to make sure he didn't endanger his head anymore. When he stood, he was met with the sight of a blue haired girl who looked even younger than himself. Xiu smiled then, lowering his hand from his head, knowing he looked a bit stupid.

"Can I help you with anything?" He asked with an excited over eagerness. It was rare to get someone so young to stop by the stand. And a stranger too! Usually is was just friends of the temple who stopped by. Old friends.

"OW!"

Something made a strange sound when she called out, and Enlei jumped back in surprise. The young girl eyed the shaking table warily, preparing herself for some kind of attack. One could never be too careful...

But the person who appeared seemed to be more of a threat to himself (with that bump on his head) than anyone else, and Enlei couldn't help but chuckle slightly.

"Is your head alright?" It was a boy about her age- well, maybe a little older than her. His long brown hair was pulled back into a neat ponytail, and his blue eyes were bright with excitement.

"Hello," she greeted him again, "I was.. just, uh, looking around." Enlei hadn't made up her mind, yet, though she kept glancing back at the blue-and-silver octopus-shaped kite. There were so many colours and designs to choose from, and she didn't know a single thing about kites... other than that you were supposed to fly them. She'd make a decision later, maybe ask him for recommendations.

First things first, though, strike up a conversation and try to learn more about kites... hopefully without revealing that she didn't know anything about them.

"So," she beamed at the boy. "Did you make all of these yourself? They're really beautiful."

"Mmh. I'm okay." Xiu replied with a wince, rubbing the back of his head. He looked over the the girl, taking in her blue hair and young face. He wondered why she would even be interested in his stand. Either his customers were really old or really young. It was obvious this girl was neither.

Wrinkled his nose as his attention of the girl wavered, Xiu took a moment to redo his messy pony tail. It had come out of its tie, again, and was now irritatingly in his face.

"Oh, yes. I made all these." Xiu smiled back once he was done fussing with his hair. "And thank you. That's a nice compliment." If anything his smile got wider as he leaned against the edge of the table he'd been working it. "Do you see anything you like? I kind of have a lot and I'm hoping to get rid of a few."

"You're not very convincing," Enlei grinned at him. "Are you sure you're fine? You hit that table pretty hard.."

Out of the corner of her eye the girl watched him re-do his ponytail. She felt just the slightest bit of jealousy- how had he made it seem so effortless? Enlei's hair was impeccably neat every day, and she made sure to keep it that way- but only because her mother braided her hair for her in the mornings, and she didn't know how to fix it, should it get messed up.

She looked back at the boy when he spoke- he had made all of these himself, then! Enlei wasn't extremely easily impressed, but she did find this amazing.

"Did you learn the art yourself? Or perhaps you received instruction from some great master? These are- I apologise for the repetition- truly beautiful. I would love to see them up in the sky; I am sure they would look even more spectacular, then."

Once more she glanced at the pieces displayed. Yes- she had quite made up her mind, to be truthful, but she didn't quite want to leave just yet. She frowned slightly, pretending it was a difficult choice to make, but his smile was far too contagious. As he leaned against the edge of the table, moving closer to her, she couldn't help but smile as well.

"I like all of them," she declared, grinning at him. "But hmmmm... How about you show me that one you're working on right now?"
