The youth gently clutched the letter as he peered down at the address again. Yes, this was it. Strange, how he had wandered all over the different towns and never noticed this place before. The glass felt cool against his fingertips as he gently pushed the passage open and peered inside, marveling at the size of the place before stepping into the spacious lobby and wandering slowly up to the desk. Politely, he bowed, offering the letter. "Hello. I am to being Farid. I am here in place of Oliver to see a Ms. Apoxi? We are to be wondering about what you ask of us, beautiful one."

Sitting at the desk was a young woman with long blonde-and-rainbow hair, with cloud tufts on the ends. She was presently holding a treat up above the head of - well, a head. It was a ball of fluff with antennae and little wings on the back of it. The critter was trying to bounce up and get it with a long tongue, but the critter just wasn't getting there yet.

Peering over the edge of the desk at the creature and Jillian was apparently a little owl girl with dark hair. Jillian looked up at Farid before she even noticed this child had sneaked out. "Oh, hello there. My mother's busy right now but I can help you." the blonde assured him. "If you got a letter, you were probably chosen to adopt a child. Do you have any ideas what kind you'd like?"

Farid hesitated for a moment, still processing the idea of having a child around. It actually caused a look of endearing fondness to cross the massive duckbill as his fluffy tail swept side to side. "I am to be having little one?! I do no even know where to be starting! " Before he could begin inquiring further, the child behind the desk caught his eye.

The child peered with wide owlish eyes hidden behind those massive glass frames at the tiny fluff that bounced and chirruped so eagerly in anticipation for the treat. Gossamer wings flitted and fluttered until, tired, it rested and cast its gaze around. Only then did it notice the child. Eager to please, the long tongue whipped out and stroked her cheek, soft as the touch of a butterfly's wings, and ticklish. It caused the little one to squeal in delight and giggle, gently reaching out to touch it. "Awww, you're so cute!"

Jillian giggled a bit behind her hand, "Yes, you're going to be helping take care of a little one. We have girls, we have boys, we even have its. And they all range from humanoid to looking more mixy like yourself."

Glancing down at the owl, she smiled. "You can pick it up if you want, it doesn't mind. I can even give you the treatbag so you can feed it."

Not needing a second bidding, the girl picked up the small creature and began feeding it a treat. The realization that a stranger was in the room caused the excitement of it to wear off quickly though as she began backing away, holding the contented creature close to her chest for comfort. Between his odd looks, foreign accent, and almost shifty looking demeanor - he frightened her a little.

The boy was oblivious for a few moments though, happily rambling off his living arrangement and whether or not Jilian though a child would enjoy it and who his "father" was.

Only once the girl hit the back wall did the clatter of her glasses shifting a little and falling to the ground catch his attention. Fluidly, he moved to her and knelt, picking them up and offering them to the child. "I am to be thinking these are yours, pretty one."

The girl took them and put them back on, adjusting them and blinking up at him. Noticing her hesitation, Farid went into damage control mode. He was used to those frightened eyes and those hesitant stares from people. Backing off, he smiled. "Do you like pretty lights, little girl?" Befuddled slightly at the question, she nodded slow, watching him.

The boy put his hands together in almost a prayer like motion and the air suddenly split just a few inches beyond them into a cascade of explosive color. The display went off a little longer before he stopped, blowing the smoke off of his hands before taking a bow.

It worked in the way it had so many times before. The girl bounced up and down, eyes shining and a smile on her face. "Oh my goodness, that's so cool!" she squealed, running up to him and looking at his offered hands. "How did you do that?"

Farid glanced at Jilian and smiled wide before looking back at the child, sitting down next to her and letting her explore his hands. "I can to be showing you more if you like. I am Farid. Would you like to be little sister?" This stopped the girl as she looked up at him, grasping his hand tighter. "Wow....you mean it?" she whispered. His nod sent her happily hooting out loud as she hugged his hand tight and then excitedly picked up the fluff and snuggled it.

"It is to being alright, miss?"

Jillian grinned and nodded, "Yeah, that's fine. You can take her lil buddy along with you too. They don't make much mess and so long as you feed them and pay them attention, they're fine pets. It's called a fuzzykin."

It was then that Oliver arrived. The man was inordinately grumpy about having to go through the rigmarole of setting up everything for the new house, but he had finally made it. So help them, though, this had better not be some scam or he was going to flip. Through poking around on his own he managed to find Farid by the familiarity of his voice and sauntered in, bewildered at what he was doing with this little girl and this...thing...bouncing around him. Looking at who, he could only assume, was the letter sender he jerked a thumb at the scene. "What, may I ask, is this here?"

PostPosted: Sun Nov 21, 2010 12:12 pm

Jillian grinned, "You must be Oliver. Farid came for you ahead of time to help pick out a kid. The letter was about you guys being selected to adopt a child and he's already picked a little girl out. I was just about to give him the paperwork." she explained brightly.

From the shadows, a tall and intimidating pink haired woman in a visor walked out, strong and sturdy and not like she was going to take any crap.

Farid swept the little one up and hastily brought her over, gently pushing her towards him. The entire time the man could be heard softly protesting "Oh no...Nononononono..." until those little arms wrapped around his leg and he cringed, looking down at her lost and sheepish until she finally whispered. "Daddy?" The man honestly didn't know what to do. He shot a glare at Farid, but the boy having lived so long with him and knowing that look only smiled encouragingly and knelt beside her making those same big eyes. "She is to being so k-yute...We can not to be leaving her here. 'Daddy.' She is to be coming home with us?"

Oliver shook his head sternly for a few minutes, refusing to look directly at her as he shook his head. Slowly though, his curiosity got the better of him. He looked down to really look at her and the shaking slowed into a dull nod. "D-daddy, did ya say it was? You're an...odd...lookin broad..." The girl looked crestfallen before he quickly, flusteredly, shook his head and tried to smile for her. "I-I didn't mean it like that. You're sorta cute. Like a little canary or somet`in..." Looking back up at the woman he pointed down at the child and raised a brow, begging to know what she actually was. He already had ONE oddity in the house.

"A magical owl and the Countess." Kayen stated calmly, not bothering to elaborate on what sort of creature the Countess even was. That wasn't necessary at this time.

Jillian looked at her, "awwww, she's from Bollard and the Countess? How sweeeeet!" though in the back of her mind, she registered that'd make her at teen a hooter with hooters.

Well, it still wasn't a psychic-pyrotechnic-platypus child...Oliver sighed and ran a hand through his hair before his resolve gave out and he reached down to gently pat her on the head. "Aright, I guess the new house could use a woman's touch - though you're kinda small for a woman yet. A girl will have to do, I guess."

Farid squeed softly and picked her up, giving the little one a piggyback ride with her tiny fluffball balanced skillfully on his head. Oliver shook his head at the display but begrudgingly smiled, looking at the pink haired lady. "So do I need to do anything special? Or do I just sign an try not to mess her up by being a grumpy old rat?"
PostPosted: Sun Nov 21, 2010 12:42 pm

"You just sign some forms and must bring her back once per stage." Kayen explained, picking up the papers from the desk. "Take good care of her and if you require monetary assistance, we can provide that to see to her proper care and treatment. Her little companion there is known as a Fuzzykin - they require very little training. Just food, attention and affection. They're quire durable.'

Taking the papers, he signed them and offered them back, making his leave with some considerable muttering at Farid who only smiled wide at the matter and bowed carefully to the ladies before leaving, assuring the girl was perfectly safe as they left.
