No Bars Tournament Style
Rules and Guidelines
No Bars Tournament Style is the least restrictive style of AC Tournaments, but still falls under several important Guidelines and rules to create a strong foundation for a Tournament Style atmosphere.
“No Bars” or Unlimited Style Tournaments do not constrain you to a specific amount of powers or skill to your character. The only real constraining factor coming from that character limit, which is set at 1. Your character must be set before the tournament and will be the only character you use throughout all your battles.
No Bars Tournaments (unless stated otherwise) are Elimination style progression Tournaments, you lose your out! (Unexpected exceptions may occur).
Starting up:
If you desire to take part in the No Bars Tournament, you must register (speak to Tournament Heads). And get your name on the contestant list. Once on the list you have some time to choose which character you desire to use. Once decided you must inform one of the Tournament Crew to get it your choice placed beside your name on the contestant list. You must have decided before your first fight, several days before the tournament starts is ideal. This is to prevent last minute changes done by players after they know who they are fighting.
Must Haves:
You may choose or set your character as soon as you sign up for the Tournament, but at the very least one must have a full completed profile at least 2 days before Start of Tournament or one may be disqualified. A Tournament Profile Layout will be posted, but you are not forced to follow it to key, all that is requested of you if you present all the necessary info. This means your profile must state all your characters powers, abilities and skills in an easy to read fashion. When looking into your profile a judge or contestant should be easily be able to see if you are a “Fire Bender and Master Swordsmen” such details must be clear. You do not need to explain the extent of control or every attack and style within your characters vast set of knowledge. Example: “Fire bender” means you control fire, and all aspects of it. Under the power of fire, it is safe to say you have a general control over it sub-category heat. Surprises and character specific twists and traits are all good and fun, but information must never be missing our hidden.
Stating your characters skills or abilities fall under the same rules; Example: “Animal traits” covers such things like improved hearing, and eye sight. But let me be clear, if you claiming your character has animal like hearing he better be animal half breed or have this “advanced” senses supported by what the character is.
Explain Yourself:
No one wants to be confused on what you are doing or what you are trying to say. So phrase yourself well, and use decent grammar and spelling to reduce confusion. Remember if you don’t clarify what you are doing, one is open to an objective opinion. Meaning if you, Quote “Slash my sword at bob” with no content of how you are swinging the sword stated, your opposite is free to assume it is either vertical or a horizontal swing due to whatever he or she desires.
Due to this being a No Bars Tournament, it is to be expected to see some crazy magic and powers. And that is why explanations are key here, not only must what you doing be clear, but how you do it as well.
Once again, I don’t want to know how your guy forms a fireball out of his palm, but if you are pulling a nuclear strike out of your butt! I demand you explain how the hell your character does that. (AM I CLEAR!?)
First Post:
Your first post besides for the obvious creative writing input from the contestants must contain a link to your characters profile, or profile page and a short/condensed list of your characters powers (skills no required). This is to prevent the need for contestants to look at your profile if they don’t want too, allow them to easily know who they are going against and get right into the fight.
Simplicity is a good thing people.
Post Limit:
Upon reaching 15 to 20 posts from each constant in a single fight, if a winner has yet to be decided the battle will be declared a stalemate until the match can be read over by a collection of 3 judges. The 3 judges may not be set people, and may contain of those defeated or kicked from the tournament or those who are just spectating. Note no fighter that is currently within the Tournament may judge (exceptions may apply).
When judged the players will be judged on several different categories on the scale of 1-10.
-Creativity (Where the players, clever, thinking outside of the box and always presenting something new?) (10 Max)
-Writing (Did the player use decent grammar and explains themselves in their posts well?) (10 MAX)
-Playing in Character (Style): (Did the player’s fight follow the style and personality of the character they choose) (5 Max)
Bonus:
-Aggression: Having the defenders advantage is great. But it’s expected that one takes the offensive at least on occasion. (2 Max) Either 1 or 2 points given to the most aggressive fight, this scoring only applies if the difference in aggression is obvious otherwise ignore this.
