To all you book/steampunk lovers out there, DO I HAVE A BOOK FOR YOU 8D[/stupidface]

As an avid stalker follower of the fantastic illustrator, Keith Thompson, whose art I have known since I was twelve or so (even before Deviantart!)... I learned of the illustrations he was making for this book series by Scott Westerfield. An animated trailer was made, and I took a look... and was blown away.
I eventually bought the book and read it... and LOVED IT! The alternate universe WWI was so great. Characters are bloody fantastic, very well thought out and deep, even immature (well... they're fifteen...).
So I read his blog and learn that Behemoth is coming out.
Dude I bought that book so bloody fast, but atm... I cannot read it for I am studying my a** off T__T
But I WILL recommend you guys go and take a look at this series. One of my favourite books by far 8D

EDIT: Finished Behemoth early this morning. Could not put it down at all! Both are fantastic books and I look forward to the next in the series (i'm guessing that it will most definitely not be a trilogy. Not enough stuff has happened yet!)

Yep, I've heard of these books and love them to bits. I'm constantly recommending them to the patrons who come into my place of employment.

/insert "steampunk is my life, lol" statement here. (I would have gotten to this thread sooner, but was at a steampunk convention when it was originally posted. biggrin ) Steampunk books are one of my favourite parts of the scene, especially since they've been around the longest and were essentially the beginning of the movement.

Anyway, another good steampunk book is Mainspring by Jay Lake. I met Jay at Steamcon II last weekend. smile Also, Cherie Priest is like a queen of Steampunk and Boneshaker is sooooo great. My other recommendations are the Parasol Protectorate novels by Gail Carriger. (She is so sweet and signed all my copies of the books currently published in the series and answered my fan questions at Steamcon II last weekend. Still in squee mode.)

Then there's the old school Steampunk like The Difference Engine by William Gibson and some other author that I can't remember.

It hasn't been updated in awhile, but the Steampunk Essentials list at Aether Emporium is a good start. The lovely people at Brass Goggles probably have more recommendations, too.

/long post is long, sorry.

I loved Leviathan, it was a good read. Looking forward to getting my hands on Behemoth. I got into it the same way you did: Keith Thompson xD His stuff is so good. I also really want to read The Difference Engine, but I haven't had time to.
