School had always just been a thing for learning. Aoi would often curl up in a corner of the library, tall stack of books beside him, and fill his brain with thousands of words describing anything he could possibly dream of. That was his quiet refuge. He hadn’t come in contact much with the other students yet, which he found was rather misfortunate. Aoi longed for friendship, but in the library, everyone always kept to themselves. He was guilty of just that. Books would distract him for hours, even interfering with his studying. His mentor scolded him for being so reserved. She demanded that he start doing school activities. In fact, she suggested that he start one.

A club.

And what was worse, she already seemed to have a club in mind.

A Host Club.

Aoi shook his head. She didn’t seem to understand it. The students, and quite frankly, most of the people in the area, were all men. Of course, that meant many more accessible to join the club, but who would be left for them to host? Maybe a nearby all-girl’s school? Though he didn’t doubt other men would possibly come by. It would be open to all, whatever their preference.

Sitting alone in the tiny room reserved to him for the purpose of the host club, Aoi began to scribble cartoons on the border of the sign-up sheet, appearing to be hard at work from the view of the passersby. Maybe that sign he had made on the back of a crumpled homework assignment and put on the bulletin board wouldn’t be enough to catch the attention of the other boys. Maybe he would have to just go back home and tell Kuni that it wouldn't work out and that he didn't get enough members to be allowed a club. Maybe he could run right now and then he'd never know if others were actually interested in his silly little club...
