Well, not just, a couple hours ago (for $8 <3 ) I've been at the Harry Potter premier all this time (I cosplayed as Professor Quarrel and I intend on recycling his turban for a DQV main cosplay in the future) but anyway, at 3:30 am I've decided to pop this game in, any advice that can help me in the future? I know by not getting late game advice on IX I sort of screwed my team up with an untimely reset of levels (I forget the technical term at the moment happy 3:30 am to you too -_-) from what I've played so far, the music is great and voice acting, eh? I hope I am as enthuiestic as my friend was and power through 400 hours like him (In DQIX, I have 250 hours.) -_-

Put points in axes and humanity for Yangus. Even if you don't have axes yet. He gets an axe equivalent of thunder thrust, which is awesome for metal slime hunting (I had him using scythes, and I didn't do as well). For the hero, swords or spears and courage is good. For Jessica, I had her level whips and sex appeal, and it worked for me fine. Same with swords and charisma for Angelo.
Also. What do you think of the world map? Tell me, man. I love DQVIII's world map. So, so much. This game has an atmosphere like no other.

Awright, I'll be sure to do that, although I'll give the hero levels in spears just to add variety to the characters as Angelo will be the sword guy. World map-wise, I love how it's all connected, although the 3Dness is a bit overwhelming for a n00b if that makes sense. D: I'll get used to it in time, and the treasures are fun to find, I should probably stay away from visible enemies from now on while we're talking about the world map. ._.

Because it's the first game in full cell-shaded 3D? Yeah, visible enemies you can recruit later for monster teams. Remember where they are so you can find them later on. How far are you now?

Yeah, I'm thinking so, ._. you should know Fire Emblem Thracia 776 Dragon Warrior IV and Genso Suikoden are my favourite games, so I spend most of my time in the retro 2D game-land, but the good news is I'm getting used to it.
Game-wise, I haven't had as much time as I wanted to spend with job hunting and all, but I did just finish the second boss (the squid) I personally love the challenge they throw, whereas most games, you just mash the attack button and eat a couple of herbs here and there, in this game, Mr. Guv was forced to be a full time healer while Yangus chiped away at the boss's health slowly.

Virtas_Threin If I remember right the Hero's strongest weapon that I can remember is a spear. >> idk.... Spears are good too. Either is good, really. As a sword user, he gets metal slash, as well as use of weapons like the Falcon blade. As a spear user, he gets lightning and thunder thrust, and some good spears as well. There are liquid metal weapons for both weapon classes, so it all comes down to personal preference as far as I know. By the way, do you know if Angelo can equip the Liquid Metal sword? I always thought he was a Shamshir of Light kinda guy. I don't recall getting the Shamshir, and I gave the Metal Slime sword to my hero. On the subject of DQVIII, nice avatar you got going there, Virtas. Our own Guv'nor would be proud. Looks like you could do with a longer coat, though.

Can equip the Liquid Metal Sword(So can Jessica. XD). Aneglo is the only one who can weild the Shamshir of Light. ;O While on the topic of the guide. I love BradyGames for their guides... But the DQ VIII one's walkthrough section sucks. .-. Doesn't give you strategies for the bosses and it doesn't have the Dragovian Trials in it. makes me wonder if I wanna get the DQ IX one. AS FOR MY AVI! >D Yes the coat. >> It bugs me, plus the bag. It's the only yellow sleeveless coat-type item. And the only green shoulder back. Working on getting muramasa for the back mount. :/

I never bought the strategy guides for any games.
I just ran into Dhoulmagus and wept with all of the grinding I then had to do. A boss stomping you into the ground with his first form is NOT a good sign. Beating it, and then having no MP for the second form is even worse.

Only good use for the guide is alchemy, skill point placement, and items.
