General Information

Faerie breeding is a joyous process. They generally won't start a family unless they are closely bonded and feel that they are of a mature age and are highly monogamous. The birth itself, and subsequent birthdays, are celebrated by friends and family. Parents try to raise their child in an enriching, positive environment to encourage their magical and intellectual tendencies. Faeries have a certain amount of difficulty becoming pregnant, making accidental pregnancies less likely than in humans.

Faeries have natural pregnancies, and, though in a world of magic, it is not possible for same-sex couples to have children. It is considered unethical for magic to tamper with the basics of life, such as birth and the natural aging process, so research hasn't been conducted in the area.

Illegal, but still technically possible, offspring between an Aphotic and Luminous faerie will result in an infertile faerie with dim wings, devoid of color and incapable of magic. Any such child is not celebrated; if found, both child and parents are imprisoned. They are termed "Grey faeries".

Faeries will usually have only one child at a time, rarely twins.

Summary:
• Usually closely bonded pairs
• Accidental pregnancies rare
• Only traditional pairs produce offspring
• 90% chance 1 child, 10% chance 2 children

Procedure

To have children, your faerie must be at least the "progressing" stage and 17 years of age. Once you have fulfilled all necessary requirements listed above and everyone is in agreement, you simply post this form here at any time. Your post will be marked with the artist who is on faerie breeding at that time and your art will be worked on. To see who is currently on duty, view the OPENING POST of this thread!

Once you have been accepted, a number will be rolled to decide whether you have one or two children. You may opt out of this if you only want one. (Keep in mind, the price of one child- 100k overall- is doubled for twins.) When you have your number, you send the correct trade (see Pricing thread) to your artist.

What can you do with the faerie child? Well, in-character, the child will usually stay with its parents until it is an adult itself of course. In-shop, there are several options. The first, and most preferred, is to allow the shop to hold an rp or prompt event for the child. The second is to give the child to a friend who will be active. The third, and least preferred, is to simply keep it for yourself.

Breeding Questions

Can I breed two of my own faeries together?
We prefer couples who are played by two different users. However, if the couple was intended from the characters' conception, then it will be allowed. We will not allow it simply because you "have trouble finding a good pairing" for your character.

Can my Aphotic faerie breed with Jimmy's Luminous faerie?
Technically, yes. Grey faeries are harder to conceive than normal babies and your faeries will run the risk of being imprisoned if they are caught. For every Aphotic/Luminous couple who posts a breeding form, a number (1-100) will be randomized. Only if the number is between 1-30 will the couple conceive. If unsuccessful, owners must wait 2 months to try again. Only one child will ever be produced. Obviously, you only pay the breeding cost if you are successful.

How long is a pregnancy?
A pregnancy technically lasts roughly the same time as a human's. However, as our IC timeline is somewhat arbitrary, it can be considered "complete" whenever the baby's artwork is delivered. You may extend the pregnancy in-character if you wish, but may not deliver before you have the art.
