looks like the xbox forums are dead. so lets start up a heated topic. which xbox-exclusive game is better.....Halo or Gears of War? and why?

My personal opinion is without a doubt Halo but, im going to stay out of this until i see some more posts. post away!!

I'd pick Halo for one reason. I played it first, lol. Both involve shooting at other terrestrial beings like your life depended on it so yeah. Of course the gore in Gears of War gives it a good edge but Halo's got all the laser s**t and all.

I'd pick Halo because it is all-out better. To start off, it's been around longer and has always been a trademark of xbox. I also like the story wayyy better. With a unique universe and an alien race to work with it makes the game even more epic. Although he doesn't talk much the master chief is an awesome guy and a great main character serving as a spartan super-soldier. As for ODST and Halo Wars they were different from the typical Halo games but still awesome. Halo's multiplayer is one of the best online. And one of the things I like best about Halo mulitplayer is that it takes more skill to master than...Call of Duty for an example. Halo is an overall legendary game.

Don't get me wrong. Gears of War is also great. The story is good but doesn't have that much to it. The locusts are killing the humans and the humans destroy Jericho to kill the locust threat. That's about all with no significant events leading up to it. The main character is a bad-a**. As for the multiplayer...it is fun but way to weird for me. I mean. I have played my fair share of it but I just don't like the idea of taking cover, rolling around like a moron, and shotguning over and over again. The multiplayer is great and I like playing it...just not really my style.

Well long story short...Halo is and will always be better. (NOTE: do not judge me as a gamer based on this opinion. I simply like Halo better...even though it is xp )

Halo for sure,because you could jump like 1500000000000feet high (exagerating).

halo because the franchise has more games and it has more customization, i love customization in my games especially when it goes really in depth

Halo all the way. I've been there from the beginning and loved it from the start. Bungie brought the concept of humans vs. alien and made it into a masterpiece. It was totally different in a good way.

I think both are equally good.
I've loved Halo since Combat Evolved.
How can I not love some good alien blasting fun?
Gears of War is a great game for some of the same reasons.
Both have the same basics to them.
Common Goal? Save Humanity.
General Gameplay? Kill a crapload of Aliens in your way from point A to point B.
Tools of the Trade? Guns. Little Guns, Big Guns, Big Flipping Guns, and various melee weapons for getting dirty.
Gears of War is 3rd person and is a little slower paced than Halo.
Halo is a 1st person and its maps are generally very open.

Both are great games in general. If I had to choose between them?
Single player: Gears of War.
Multiplayer: Halo
