Bards! (actually, he reminds me of a bard I've read off; he doesn't care about how dangerous it might become so long as he gets to see the fighting first hand so he can make up his own version later on!)
I don't like his wife, obviously what you were going for. But why didn't he kill her when he had the chance? Does he love her? She might be used against him later on - not that she'll stand a chance without some miracle!
