He shuffled edgily in the alleyway, his hands stuck deep into his pockets and his shoulders hunched. His light blue eyes were sharp though and stared almost hungrily through the shop window through which filtering light fell upon his face, revealing a young thin face, almost handsome if he would smile.
There weren't jewels or watches in the shop, nor bountiful silk nor cakes for king's wedding, now was the man a thief or a rich man's son. He was a simple boy, raised without gold or much care but nevertheless he grew without bitterness except for the reality that life is harsh.
Now he stared into the tavern, for it was a tavern, selling warm beer and hot pies and his stomach rumbled. There was nought in his pockets, he knew, but the ache has grown to strong and he contemplated on how he was suppose to get one of those pies.
The window was ajar slightly, enough for his hand to reach in. A half eaten crumbled meatpatty laid there, just for a moment...before he snatched it and a working lass saw him.
With a shriek she yelled, "Thief!" and with a jerk, he dashed through the darkness of shadows, the hot tender object in his arms.

His feet pounded through the shallow murky pools of rain, taking him deeper and deeper into the shifting wyrd ways of Gaia, until his breathe cut him short and he leaned gasping against the wall. His teeth tore into the pie and eagerly gulped down the stewy meat, and then there was no more.
He sighed, and stared emptily at his cold hands, wondering if this was to continue tomorrow. In his mind he had no room to think more than tomorrow.
Something sparkled, in the dirt. Edged in the corner, it glimmered rare, so out of place in this forgotten street. His eyes glanced and then he picked it up. It was soft, a tiny icy feather, half drowned in mud. Without a thought, it went into his pocket, and he left.
The night was coming to light and not a good time for a lost teen like him.

The city was quiet, he was far from the bustle, from the sirens and wails, far from the shouts and bottles crashing.
He leaned back against the wall, more than 50 feet high above the city sky, on the rooftop of an old abandoned building.
The night was yet young, the wind picking up, causing him to lift his collar and slide deeper into the crevice. The incessant tugging, it refused to let him go. A whisper, a tinkling, occasionally a brief sparking light. Where was it coming from........
It distracted. Almost with an intention. He couldn't do anything without something interferring! Frustrated he slammed his hand into the wall, dislodging a crumbling plaster.
Ow...that hurt.
Sticking his hands into his pockets, his slim fingers felt something soft. Taking it out, it was a feather....a cool ice blue feather....he stroked it delicately for awhile, dark eyes drawn to the shimmers and remembered...
With a shock he realised that since he picked it up, the distractions had come, a coincidence? Seems unlikely.
With a sudden surge of anger, he flung it out, high into the air and watched as it floated in the near moonlight, still encassed in darkness and disappeared into the tightly packed hubs of town.
He muttered to himself and breathed.

He walked lightly, easily avoiding the messes, passing the people without attracting attention, like a shadow he walked.
There was a darkness in his eyes, a slump to his step, he was not himself.
For past nights, he could not sleep, his nights were filled with murky tendrils and faceless nightmares, while his days were spent running from the cops.

What is with everything this week? He grumbled, sliding his face into the collar of the shirt as he attempt to remain inconspicous.
He passed into the alley and slumped against the wall. Ugh. The hunger ache inside of him, he'd need to find food soon. Considering his options, he made his way north. There was to be a carnival tonight, that means pies and other delicasies presented in the open for customers...like him. Perfect.

He snuck inbetween the people and kept his eyes open as the music and festivities overwhelmed his senses.
There! A busy owner with an open cart full of...apples? Candy apples. Well, anything would do.
He slid nearer, eyes to the front, but carefully watching through the corner, ensuring the owner is still chatting away.
One arm was tucked neatly into his jacket, but the other was already reaching.......reaching...
A hand suddenly clamped down on his arm, tugging him forward and he came face to face with a burly man who sneered, "So we have a thief here?"
It wasn't much of a question. He struggled widely, as the other flicked out a knife....wha?
Out of the jacket he slipped out and ran for his life, his feet pounding the slippery pavement as he attempt to get lost among the people.
Finally he slipped into an abandoned corner and gasped for his breathe.
He was caught! He never got caught, but tonight......

With a clutch of fear he realised that he could have died. Tonight, on the ground, a knife to the belly.
He was going to die anyways. At this rate, he can't get food, he can't get gold.....he'll die on the streets.

Something drifted into his hands.
A soft, slightly dirtied feather. It shone silvery blue beneath and was icy to the touch.
He stared at it for a moment, incredulous. His fortunes sank when he found this feather, but it positively plumetted when he threw it away. He thought groaningly, it's out to kill him.
He gave up........he's meant to keep it, whether he wanted to or not, he might as well sink with it.
Twirling it in his fingers, he grabbed hold of the chain around his neck and threaded the feather through. For the moment, he's not letting it out of his sight.

The feather glowed warm upon his chest.
He looked out at the sky, idly tapping his foot to a made up song in his head. It was almost comforting, the lulling heat near his heart. For awhile, he listened to himself, then to the city. Something was to happen......and soon.
He drifted to sleep...

"Should you have a name" he said outloud to himself, walking through the streets of Gaia. He didn't care if anyone heard him, let them think as they will.
Lately he has been getting stronger, the breathing slackened, there was a surge in his steps. His dreams became frequented with ....with light, light of the moon and of the stars.
Absentmindedly, his hand strayed to the top of his shirt, idly tugging at the feather which laid beneath.
The more he accepted it, the better he felt, no doubt.
So.....a name. If it's here to stay, it must have a name. He didn't know why anyone would name a feather but he felt there was a reason for it. However....was it a male, or a female..?
He stopped, right outside of a dingy little shop. One which sells ancient books. He remembered the stories his mother used to croon to him, of ancient lands and kingdoms. Thus he decided, "R'nir is your name if you're male, and Seraphis if you're female."
He walked on.

He was curled up in a thick coat on the floor of an abandoned room. The moon shone bright and thick outside of his window, casting tender tiny rays of lighted silver across his face.
A soft blue light glowed upon the man's face, finally growing large enough till it hovers above his chest.
The shape of a small boy formed within the light and it brokw sharply, and there, standing solidly and one hand rubbing his eyes, a boy. With blue hair and tiny wings upon his back, he was barefooted and had calm steady blue eyes.
The boy yawned and curled up beside the man.

The light filtered through alarmingly bright...yet cold...
Annoyed, he started blinking then sat up straight, aware of a form beside him.In the clearest possible halo frame, a young boy with his breathe escaping gently, his shoulders rising up and down and a single lock of blue raven hair curled around his forehead.
Taka paused for a second, then got up and went to look for food. The boy will need breakfast ....altho he wasn't sure what R'nir would eat...
