As previously mentioned before, I have a rather uncontrolled hormone drive. As a result, I find myself constantly trying to find new ways to..."relieve" myself.
So I was thinking...is it really so wrong to cyber? I mean, I love writing and I find that writing about sexual content helps me relieve faster and in a more satisfactory way than finger and what not.
I also find that strangers are better to use. I'd feel awkward doing it with friends.
So I was wondering why people frown on it so much? Yes, I don't believe it should be done at a young age (13, 14, etc). But if you're not giving out information about yourself..it's really no different than talking to you.
I don't send pictures or use video cam. I use it as a basic role play...is that so wrong?

I believe it's wrong if you're in a committed relationship with someone else already. If you have a boyfriend, and you want to try cybering, you can try it with him.
If you have the urge to cyber with strangers, then do your boyfriend a favor and break up with him first. That saves him and you from getting more hurt than necessary.
And remember, no cybering is allowed on Gaia. wink *just teasing*

My mother frowns on it strongly. But then again, I REALLY enjoy it with my fiance'. As long as you're single, and you aren't giving out your personal information so that they can get to you, I see nothing wrong with it.
And with strangers? Nothing wrong with that either. It's not like you have to worry about STDs or pregnancy. I'd say go for it, if that's what you want. 3nodding

As Nikolita said I think it's wrong to do it if you're in a relationship. It may not be physical cheating but it is psycological cheating.
If you're single or doing it with a partner then I don't see the harm with it. Just like anything sexual it's just a matter of personal opinion.

I was cybering when I was 12...before I found physical ways of relieving myself (...with the aid of others ninja )
I really think it's a matter of preference and being able to deal and cope with it.

Honestly, I have no clue why cybering gets such a bad rap, but "hooking up" with someone you just met at a bar doesn't. It's just ridiculous.
Don't give out your personal information. That's a given. Make up a first name you like and just use that if people ask.
If you are in a relationship, talk to your significant other first. Some people are fine with it and see it as pretty much the same thing as looking at porn. Others think it's cheating (and some even think looking at porn is cheating). So honestly, you need to talk with your bf and figure out where he stands.
I really don't see anything wrong with cybering. It can be fun, it's miles safer than "hooking up," it's really just like combining RP (of which there is plenty on this site) with a romance novel.

That was what I meant, sorry. smile I see nothing wrong with it, as long as the person cybering isn't already involved in another sort of committed relationship.

Brad knows I do it and he said he was fine with it. I accept the fact he looks at tons of porn, so he found it fair.
I guess, in my opinion, I don't find it cheating because I don't know who this person is, I'm not getting involved with them, and I'm playing as someone else. To me, as long as I know I love the person I'm with, I don't see it any different than picking up a playboy.
I'd love to do it with Brad, had he the access to the wire. It's a rarity if I even get an email from him. And besides...I find his grammar terrifying and I think I'd be turned off if I were to read what he would consider a storyline. xp

You may also want to consider writing porn. Among other things, it sells well, so you could turn your randiness into money wink
Okay, that was a little bit of a joke, but I sometimes write 'hook up' scenes for characters in stories that never make the book, but are kinda fun to write anyway smile And you don't need net access wink
Just don't do it in class or at meetings!

I like writing them, but they do little to relieve me. Oddly though, I like to read other's. I guess there's a thrill in partially not knowing the plot of the story.

It probably also has to do with concentration. When writing, you are concentrating on creating the story. Whereas when you read it, you can just enjoy the feeling. I don't get turned on at all when writing, but I do get extremely turned on reading the works of others (even if I've already read it and know what's going to happen).

When I was younger there were so many things I said I would never do. I'll never masterbate... I masterbate daily biggrin I will never cyber... well. I do. I've only ever cybered with two people. I still ocassionally cyber with the first girl I ever did with. But not when either have a gf. And a friend of mine. I don't like randomly choosing a person and cybering with them. It's strange to me. but I do like to.
