Gone.

Simple as that. Simple as the wind blowing away a leaf and leaving a tree bare. So had Denzel felt when he lost contact with the two women of his life: like a tree uprooted concerning his mother, like a tree without leaves concerning Cay. And now the cold was coming and he felt raw on the outside and inside . . . Denzel had still not participated in Aves' customs, and he felt that tug to be part of something social which had never happened before he had come to the mountains, but . . . lately he really didn't feel like doing anything. Mostly he had sat about in a den, staring at nothing, speaking to whoever came to him, but not really doing much else.

Hence his walk now. Before he had come unto Aves, traveling had been a major part of his life. If he needed to think, he just took a walk around to clear his head, take a fresh breath. Maybe that was all he needed now.

Following the river whose name he always forgot, Denzel padded at a slow pace, his body relaxed as he lulled himself to the rhythm of his steps and the beating of his necklace against his chest.

The female bounced around the trees and had her nose to the earth. She wasnt sure what she was sniffing for.. Maybe something she could find that was interesting enough to turn into a good story. She grinned at the thought and continued sniffing. Hopefully it didnt take too long.

She was a smaller female, though she was almost an adult so she wasnt bound to get much bigger. She supposed that could make her an easy target but where she was tiny, she was fast. She wasnt sure anyone dangerous could catch her if they wanted.
She had left the Tomkin lands for now.. Shed visit sure. But she wanted to explore, how else would she get those nice stories? She couldnt just make them ALL up could she?

Bindi smiled as she raised her head from the earth and let out a little howl of happiness. She was on a scent..though what she hadnt quite figured out.

The howl was a vague echo in his ears. Maybe he had imagined it? Probably . . . It didn't sound familiar at all, though, and Denzel certainly didn't hallucinate things. Only replayed memories over and over and over, until they should have grown old and dried up like the leaves about him. He liked the feel of them as he brushed past, the stark sounds they made under paw, how light and airy they were. A breeze picked up, making him shiver.

Despite being in a pack, the male was still quite lean from his numerous days living off only what his mother had fed him. And Blithra could only do so much for them both . . . And he was repaying her by leaving her alone like this. Denzel's ears docked with shame, and he paused in the middle of the strewn leaves to ponder that sin.

Hadn't she found him near death, out in a cold like this? Snow all about ready to blanket him?

What if she was like this? Oh gods . . .

Without meaning to, he let out a whining howl, the timing accidentally lining up with a response to the alien call before.

She heard the call instantly, and though hers had been a happy howl, something in the others voice made her ears flick back. Someone wasnt happy, but she figured that was the scent she had picked up on. She whined a bit, but began towards the sounds regardless. Maybe she could tell them a story and make them feel better. She hated having others feel badly.. After all, she was a happy girl herself for the most part. She felt it was her duty to help others the way she seemed to help herself.

Her paws were graceful along the earth. Her orange tipped legs the only unnatural hue to her pelt. She was always proud of her look. She was an interesting looking female, but she wasnt OUT THERE, like alot she had noticed.

It didnt take her long to find the male, and when her eyes fell on him, her ears perked. He was a handsome fellow, if not entirely skinny. Was he starving? Or maybe he was naturally little. She didnt have much room to talk, she looked like a young teen, even though she was almost to adulthood.

"Hello?" She asked, voice soft.

The more he thought about Blithra, the colder and harder the silver clamp about his leg became. He shivered again, ears automatically pricking at the sound of someone coming. Wildly he thought he would be seeing a fierce looking purple femme bounding his way with a loving lecture on her tongue, but no - quite the opposite.

Some sort of reeeeally small wolf, not the least bit purple. Orange, though. He saw orange on some other girl in Aves too. Li, Li, Li Ming. Orange amongst green. This one was white, though, but not entirely white. Offwhite. Not pure . . .

Denzel ducked his head as she approached, looking to her paws. "'Wo," he greeted in his deep, albeit sad-weakened voice. He had been trying to say "Hello", which often came out garbled like "Hewwo", but it was wore with his tongue feeling so think and lazy like a rock in his mouth.

'Wo. Woe. What was the difference?

She wondered about the way he spoke, but she blew it off. She didnt mind if he had a different way of speaking. She tried to give everyone a chance. She smiled, approaching with her head low, along with her tail. She was showing her submission, as she felt he wouldnt attack her. Otherwise she'd never show this kind of submission. He had to know she was friend, not foe, and this was the way she chose to do it.

"Whats your name?" She asked, sitting in front of him, and cocking her head, curling her tail around her front legs. She smiled, and began wagging her tail.

"You seemed sad.. My name is Bindi. It sounded like you needed a friend."
She said, grinning once more, and wanting to nose him in friendship. However she knew most had boundaries, she just tended not to recognize personal boundaries too often.

He didn't like looking at stranger's faces. He didn't want to read anyone's face, let alone someone's he didn't know. Thus when she lowered her head, he lowered his even more so that his eyes could still focus undeterred upon her paws. Cheerful, wanting to help, female. Sati was like that too. Sati was whiter, though. Sati was a friend, packmate. This one wasn't.

Not-Sati called herself "Bindi", but Denzel heard "Bend" and only twitched an ear at it. The word "friend" caught his ears as well, but it was all false. Strangers make no good friends. If they knew packmates first, then maybe. But not to Denzel. Never had been to Denzel.

"Bend go to Sati. Friend . . . not you. North go. Pack. Aves. Birds." Thus was the beginning of the crash course into Denzel-Speak.
