Gaia Name: Teralinth dKalin
Character Name: Atreya Diverge
Race: Elf
Class: Noble/Apprentice Healer
Subtype: European
Element: Life
Gender: Female
Age: Young Adult (110 years)
Family: Father - Martel Diverge (Middle aged, 605 years), a hard man with strong views on honor and integrity of the family name; Mother - Sarei Diverge (Early middle aged, 517 years), obedient wife and lackluster mother, whose kindest act she ever did for her daughter was the acceptance of Atreya's gift for healing; Deceased lover - (36 at time of death) A human male simply called Boy, he cultivated a love between himself and Atreya, in whom he saw hope for the freedom of himself and many of the other human slaves on the Diverge lands.
History: Born as the only child and heir to the lands of the Diverge family, Atreya was raised as out of the hardships of the real world as her parents could place her. When she began to show an aptitude for the healing arts, her mother begged that she be allowed to practice by being placed in charge of healing the slaves when they were sick or injured. Despite his dislike for his daughter doing such menial work, Martel allowed it, and at the age of 57 Atreya began what was to be her life's work. Her empathy led her to begin to feel sympathy towards them and their state of life, but she was careful to keep her new points of view from her parents, especially her father, who made no illusions as to how low he felt humans to be. When she was 86, her parents allowed her to keep a human child as a personal servant; as child grew into a man, she began developing feelings for him, and he for her. Behind the backs of her parents she began a physical relationship with him, all the while plotting for the two of them to escape together. When Martel discovered this, he flew into a rage and throttled the human male to death, then revoked his permission for his daughter to study Healing, insisting that a noblewoman had no need for such skills. A few months later, when Atreya realized she was pregnant, she decided to make good on her original plan of leaving her home entirely.
Present: Having finally found her way to Terralusk, Atreya is determined to make a new life for herself. Unfortunately, she had not expected it to be so difficult for a young elf, pregnant and on her own, to find a place to live, as well as one to work. Having already been in Terralusk for a few days, she finds herself quickly running out of the money she had set aside for her new life, between paying for the meager space she has found in an inn and for food to feed herself and her unborn child. The festival seems to be the best place, at the moment, to seek out and find a Healer willing to take her on as an apprentice. Her only hope is that she can find work before too much longer, as she is already half-way through her pregnancy.
Personality: With an affinity for other living creatures since the day she was born, Atreya has a strong nurturing streak that leads her to lend aid to others, even if it might not be the best thing for her to do for herself. While mostly optimistic, she is not so optimistic that she would think the world is all sunshine and butterflies; the recent events in her life have darkened her view and made her realize that not all in the world is inherently good. Young enough to think she can do anything, but old enough to begin to learn from her mistakes, she takes one day at a time, and has faith that everything will work for the best. Due to the stage of pregnancy that she is in, she is beginning to find herself prone to unusual changes in her mood, ranging from dark bouts of depression to the sudden urge to smack a stubborn trader.
Appearance: Raven hair, once silken locks that hung to her waist, has been shortened crookedly to the nape of her neck, in an attempt to throw off any who might be looking for her. Violet eyes look out at a world that holds endless possibility, darkened slightly around the irises by fatigue. A smattering of freckles have broken out across her nose and cheekbones, riding above the soft blush of sunburn, as her fair skin is slowly becoming accustomed to life outdoors. She's long since traded her fine clothes for more common ones of cotton and wool in soft blues and greys, but is slowly growing out of them as the child within her grows larger.
