Krista stops in front of the inn, she bite her bottom lip really unsure of herself at this point. Shaking her head, she walked into the inn. Looking around she got to the man at the counter "Excuse me but I'm looking for a man name Rinon.... "
Rinon walks down the stairs, a little late. He's all decked out, has everything planned to the 't.' He's dressed in the finest elven silk, in a silver the exact color as the moon, and tiny silver stars, just a tad lighter than the silk, emboidered around his cuffs and tiny, upturned collar. His tight pants are of the same color, shade, and fabric as the tunic, and to add as a stark contrast, he has a deep, almost black, blue silk shirt underneath the tunic, with tinyu silver buttons. He has his finest boots on, polished so well you can see your reflection in them, and his hair is loose about is face, though most of it is behing his pointed ears, with the exception of tiny braids in front of them.
He pushes his blue, wire glasses up on his nose and looks around.
He spots Krista and stops in his tracks. Did he forget to tell her to dress formally? He must have. But, no matter, she still looked beautiful as ever. . . .
He tugs on his black velvet cloak and walks over to her. "Hello, Miss. DarkAngel," he says, smiling charmingly at her. He holds out a white rose to her, and bows respectfully. "For you," he says, rather softly now.
Krista turn when she her someone say her name, she was a bit shocked at the white rose. She looks at Rinon and smiles "Thank you, how did you know I like white roses?" she blushes then looks at him then looks at herself. "Were going somewhere fancy aren't we?" she bit her bottom then looks around before smiling. "I'll be right back...." she turned and walked towards the ladies room.
Stepping inside she looked over herself. "No this will not do....ooh, what to wear....." she thought of the dress she had then smiles as she pulls her wand from her purse. "I hope he'll like the dress...." she waves her wand her outfit and hair transforms before her eyes. Smiling she grabs her purse and step out of the ladies room.
Looking back around she walks up to Rinon, her hair was curly and partically put up with a light blue butterfly clipped in it. She had on a long flowing silk light blue tube dress with flowers sewn into the silk, then it had an overlay of clear silk that also had flowers on it. Her arms were covers with light blue gloves.
"Now I beileve I'm ready..."
Rinon is a little suprised when she leaves, but he waits, his hands clasped behind his back as he rocks on his heels a little.
He is about to inquire after her, when he sees her coming over to him. He smiles, approving of the dress. And how much is compliments the light colors he is wearing. He offers her one of his arms and says, "You look stunning," in elven, suprised he can find words with how dry his throat is. He clears it a little, and says in a clearer voice. "If you will come with me, our carriage awaits."
And he isn't lying when he says carriage. A white carriage, with silver vines along the edges, and around the door, and in the wheels, is waiting for them. A man in an all-white, elven tunic, pants, shirt, and boots, is standing by the door. When he sees them come out of the building, he opens the door, and a tiny, silver 'staircase' lowers itself. Finally, at the head, and allowing for the carriage to move, are two stunningly-white horses.
Rinon smiles a little, feeling as though the night is going well so far. . . .
Krista eyes widen in surprise she looks to Rinon "Oh my goodness...this is amazing....no one ever done something like this......" she takes the man hand as he holds it out and steps up into the carriage. Taking a seat she was just to stun to really say anything. She thinks to herself And this is a first date?
She places her hands in her lap looking at the white rose, she was debating how to keep it with her all night. Then getting an idea. she takes and places the white rose in her hair next to the butterfly. She looks at Rinon and smiles.
Rinon smiles, glad that Krista seems happy with the whole thing, and not frightened off. But, this is how he BELIEVES dates should be, dash other people's opinions. . . . he's a hopeless romantic at heart, no matter how much he hides in his books.
"I hope it isn't too much," he says, finally, smiling a little nervously. Even if his impression is that she isn't frightened of the carriage and the formality, you can never be too sure. When she puts the rose in her hair, he nods approvingly. "That's a perfect place for it."
The carriage lurges to a start, and Rinon looks out the carriage window. "It shouldn't take too long," he starts. "I found a place in the surrounding woods. It's not moon elven food, but it is close enough. Wood elven, I hope you'll like it," he rambles. Feeling a little stupid, he shuts his mouth, and favors Krista with a half smile.
Krista looks to him rather shocked "You found a place that serves wood elven food, I've been tryng to find one for ages...I'm a wood elf well part anyways..." she blushes and pushes back a lock of her curly hair "And this is great, I feel like a princess....thank you..." she leans in and kisses his cheek then pulls away and looks out the window.
Krista was blushing. She wrinkled her nose up, Snap out of it your acting like a 16 year old. Breathing in slowly she looks back to Rinon "Hows your mother doing?"
Rinon blinks when Krista kisses his cheek, and the tips of his fingers brush the spot a moment. He doesn't know it, but there is a slight blush on his cheeks as well. "You're welcome," he replies softly.
Then, he shakes his head a little, smiling again. "She's doing better. Still a little worried over things, but it will pass," stick to family for now, he thinks. Light conversation. "And your daughters? I trust they are all well?" he asks.
Krista nods and smiles "That great to hear, I'm glad she doing better.." she giggles and plays with a lock of her hair "Yes Tinania grew, she talking up a storm now. Everyone says she takes after me, which I don't see since she really cute..." she licks her bottom lip then continues "Aylana fine herself, she been taking care of her two daugthers and hanging around her sister more and more. I can tell because she been training alot...." she smiles alittle before clasping her hands together again in her lap.
Krista stops talking then smiles "Then there Michelle, the new one that joined the family, were fostering her while she going to school. She human, but she very bright. She knows so much about elves. She really sweet, it will be hard when she has to return home..." she plays with her hands in her lap then looks down once she done talking.
Rinon is more at ease now. Maybe is he not the only one nervous? "Tinania is a charming girl. And, she DOES take after you," he says, remembering her from their first meeting. "Maybe one day I'll meet the rest of them. . . . I don't know much about Aylana, or this Michelle either," he says. "But, I am happy that they are well, as they should be. But, you are a very caring woman, to look after so many children. And to take in a stranger as well, so that she may go to school. Not many people I have met would do that," he continues.
Stop blabering, fool, he thinks. Good for him, the carriage pulls to a stop. Saved by the bell, so to speak. "We're here," he says, smiling. The door is opened moments later and he hurriedly climbs out. He holds his hand out to Krista to help her down.
Krista smiles and takes his hand, she looks around feeling at peace, she was calm now. She turns to Rinon and nods "One day I do hope you will meet the rest of my family...." she places her hand on his forearm then looks at the place, she was still amazed that he could find a place that served wood elven food.
The carriage pulls away to go and park.
The restaurant looks to be carved out of a very large tree. The doors are gold and glass, with leaf patterns etched in the glass. As Rinon leads Krista down the earthen path to the door, you can see that the lighting is low, and looks to be made with firefly's trapped in gold and glass, elaborate lanterns that seem to be floating on their own in the air on either side of the path.
Rinon holds the door open for Krista, "After you, my lady," he says, bowing slightly again.
When Krista and Rinon walk through the doors, they are met with the same, soft lighting. The chairs and tables are made from the finest wood, vines carved out of the wood in all the chair backs, and plush, rich cushions or moss green on the seats. Every table is covered with a table cloth the same color as the seats of the chairs, and set with gold forks, spoons, knives, leaf-shaped plates, and flower-shaped bowls. The wine glasses all have elgant stems, and flutes the shape of lilies, all done in sparkling crystal so brilliant they shine like diamonds.
The floor is made of white and gold marble. Everything in the restaurant shows of elegance, and attention to detail.
A pretty, brunette wood elf greets them at the podium blocking the way to the tables. She is in what looks to be a uniform, a plain, forest green elven dress. "Can I have your name, please?" she asks in elven, her brown eyes looking at the both of them, and a small, polite smile on her lips.
"Isilme, party of two," Rinon replies in elven. The woman checks. When she is satisfied, she gestures toward another, blonde elven woman in the same "uniform."
"She will show you to your table. Please, enjoy your meal," the woman says, nodding to them slowly.
Rinon returns the nod, and waits for Krista to lead this time. When the woman leads them to their table, a corner one, he holds out her chair for her.
Krista looked around before taking a seat she smiles to Rinon then looks at the table. Never in her life had she seen anything this beautiful. Looking at the table she looks at Rinon "This is...its takes my breath away...." she takes and places her nurse in her lap then smiles hearing the music.
"Rinon I don't know what to say...this is amazing...." she pauses Your amazing.....I don't know how I could do anything to let you know this means alot to me..." she smiles then looks down as she begins to blush.
Rinon smiles, pleased, as he takes his seat across from her. Menus are set in front of them, and they are told their server will be with them momentarily.
He waits for her to leave before telling Krista, "Words, and the blush," he says, in a lightly teasing voice not meant to be malicious, "Are enough, I believe you. I'm glad, and a bit relieved, that you like it, to be honest." But, he is blushing himself, over the comment on him being amazing. Modest as he is, he leaves it alone, not replying to it.
"Now," he says, straightening his back and opening his menu. "Order whatever catches your fancy. I'll follow your lead," he smiles widely. "I don't know much of wood elven food. The only familiar things I see on here are some of the wines listed," he chuckles. Besides, tonight is intended to be a night for Krista, not himself. He wants her to have the best time possible.
Well, and to impress her, of course. He DOES want a second date. . . . Krista is very interesting to him, and sweet, and beautiful. Who wouldn't want a second date?
Krista opened the menu and looked at it, she read over some of the main course and wrinkles her nose. Elk, boar, rabbit and pheasant just didn't seem to call out to her. She looked at Rinon "You know I rather have a salad tonight, with french dressing. To drink its your choice I don't know any of these wines at all." she places the menu back down then smiles "So how did you manage to come across this place?"
Rinon nods, and looks down a the menu. Well, he was going to have . . . what does elk taste like? Only one way to find out. . . .
He looks at Krista and smiles a bit sheepishly. "Well, I am a walker. I walk when I have a lot on my mind. I've walked for hours, and never notice it. This was such an occasion. I was wandering the woods, deep in though, when the sound of music floated over to me. I followed it, and just . . . found the place. I guess you could say I stumbled on it," he chuckles a little.
The server arrives, and asks for their order. Rinon closes his menu and, hoping Krista doesn't mind, as some women don't like it, orders for them, along with the wine. It is a light wine, he wants to keep his wits about him. But, still powerful for an elf. . . . He's a bit nervous about that. . . .
When the server nods, and walks away, Rinon turns his attention back to Krista. "Did you spend much time with any wood elves in your life? Or were you with humans all the time?" he asks, a little curious. He remembers her, briefly, mentioning she lived with her father, who is a human.
Krista looks down biting her bottom lip then looks back up "I've lived with humans my whole life, been around humans my whole life. To tell you the truth Lenore was the very first person I met that was an elf like me. I thought I was different." she pauses and sighs "When Tinania was born some people I met though my daugther came to live with us. There wood elves also, so I'm kindof learning as Tinania is about that side of me...."
She looks back down "I know that sound strange...never knowing who you are, but its the truth....That why I'm so...I guess you can say human....."
Rinon shakes his head. "No, it is understandable. Many half elves I have known don't know much about the elven side of them. That's partly our doing, though," he says, a little appologetically. "Some of us are elitist, I'm sorry to say. And they don't take too kindly to half-bloods. Well, they are polite, but they are not very welcoming. Most turn out rebellious and dress similar to . . . . well, Lenore. Dying their hair dramatic, unnatural colors, and wearing dark clothing, skimpy clothing," he shrugs. "Some don't recognize either part of themselves. At least you identify with one side of your lineage."
He smiles again, though. "It's good that you are being introduced to that side of yourself, though," he starts. "For both you and your daughter. I'm not assuming that you feel any sort of emptyiness inside of you, but if you were, it might help fill it. Knowing all of who you are. . . ." He clears his throat a little and takes a sip from the crystal glass conaining water. "Sorry, I tend to be a bit long-winded sometimes," he appologizes.
Krista smiles and shakes her head "Don't be, to tell you the truth, I've been wanting to say that to someone for a long time....I knew from the beginning I was different, when I found out I was a wood elf by mistake because of my father he said that why I was a freak..." she looked down "I've been told my whole life I would never fit in....I've done the whole rebel thing, but that was just to get even with my father."
She laughs alittle now that she knows how stupid she was "Back when I was in school, I dyed it the darkest blue I could find to piss of my father. Boy was he mad. When I got old enough I left my family, and dye my hair to this color just so he could never find me again....." she pick up the crystal glass and takes a sip of it then places it down. "Overall my childhood was awful but he gave me an understanding of what I wanted to be if I had kids, and that a loving mother who is willing to die for her children and family..."
"I'll say it again," Rinon says, feeling the tendon in his neck push at his skin a little. He hates people like Krista's father. . . . "He sounds like a horrible man."
But, he changes the subject from her father. "Well, I think you might have succeeded. You're not a freak, and from what I can tell of you, you are the kind of mother you wanted to be. You have people that love you in your life. Can he truly say the same? He might have people that fear him, from the sound of it, but I don't think he has any true friends. You've beat him, whether he knows it or not. All that matter is that you know it, and you believe it is true." The half smile again.
The server brings their wine, pours it, and then sets the bottle in an ice filled, gold bucket, on their table. "You're food will be out momentarily," he says before leaving again.
"Anyway," Rinon waves his hand when the server is gone. "You're happy now, from what I can hear. That is all one can really hope for."
Krista smiles and nods "Yes I am, I'm very happy with the way my life is going right now....everything so far even up to this point, have been perfect.." she picks up her crystal wine glass and takes a sip from it. She covers her mouth and closes her eyes before smiling "Okay that wow...I've never tasted anything like that..." she laughs alittle.
She looks at him "What about you, what was your childhood like? If you don't mind me asking" she brushes her hair back behind her shoulder.
Rinon chuckles. "I'm glad I was correct, and that tonight has brought you a measurement of happiness," he says. He then looks at her glass pointedly. "It's the lightest wine on the menu. It still has a kick though, for how sweet it is, so watch out," he warns, still smiling.
He then sighs. Well, he doesn't really talk about his childhood, but she has told him about hers. "It was good, in the beginning. My mother now is just a shell over her former beauty. She was radiant with love, for my father. And she was prettier than any royal in our nation," he starts. "It was a happy time, and, to sound a litlte trite, the best of times. Mother was always with me, schooling me from a very early age. My father was beginning to teach me to hunt, and a little magic, when things started to get bad.
"My mother came home one night, after being gone a few days, in tears," he continues as he takes his glasses off. He slowly cleans his glasses, pausing in his speech. When he is done, he replaces them, and begins speaking again. "She confessed to being seduced the day she disappeared. She had been walking in the woods, dancing under the moon, as was her custom on a full moon. A man, or what APPEARED to be a man, approached her. When he spoke, he was hypnotic, intoxicating, my mother later confessed to me. Well, my father was hurt more than anything. She betrayed him. But, he couldn't leave her. Her tears, and pleads for him to stay with her, not to tear our family apart, tore at his heart, so he stayed. I was still young, according to my society, when all of this happened, but I knew something was wrong between the two of them. And my mother's stomach began to grow. She was pregnant," he stops.
Rinon takes another sip of the wine. "You know most of the rest. How my mother gave birth to Lenore, but gave her up. She didn't want my father to have a clear sign of her betrayal, in a small part, but the larger part was that she couldn't care for her." He shakes his head. "My childhood was a strange one, to say the least. Mostly a depressing one. I had to care for my mother shortly after that. My father was still the man of the house, and had obligations. So, I was left to tend to her. . . ."
Krista didn't say a word she didn't know what to say. How could such a sweet man have such a sad childhood. She looked to her hands "Its seem we both had are bad times, but we both came out loving people. You are truely amazing, not many people I know would stay around to help there mother.....But you do....you have a pure heart...and I hope nothing will ever change that about you..." she looks up at him she wasn't smiling she was serious before she smiles again and sip her wine again.
Rinon leans over, smiling gratefully at her, and places a long-fingered hand on Krista's. "Thank you, for saying such sweet things. I see the same in you," he says. He removes his hand, and leans back, resting on the chair back a little.
The food arrives, and is set in front of them. Rinon thanks the server before he goes, and looks down at his elk, a little suspicious now that it is here. Nevertheless, he closes his eyes, and mutters some phrases in elven under breath.
He opens his starry eyes and rests them on Krista again. He flashes a charming smile, and says, "I hope the food is good," speaking more of his own food rather than hers. A salad couldn't possibly be bad. Well, there might be a way, but from the looks of it, the salad is made of the freshest vegetables. "Leave room for desert, though. I saw some that sounded wonderful on the menu, earlier," he takes a sip of his wine, to ready himself for his first taste of elk.
The bad thing, though, is he is almost done with his glass of wine, and he can feel a light tightening in his neck. Never drink the elven wine on an empty stomach.
Krista couldn't help but blush again as she looked down at her meal. Closing her eyes she mutters a few words to herself before opening her eyes. She looked to his plate then looked at her. Picking up her naphin, she places it in her lap before picking up her fork.
She takes the first bite of the salad and smiles. Okay this was good food, she would have to start cooking it more often at home. She looks over at Rinon, her cheek still rosy. "This is good...." she looks over toward the musican in the middle of the room and smiles.
"I'm glad," Rinon says. He cuts a peice of elk from his plate. He holds his breath as he puts it in his mouth. It wasn't bad. . . . In fact, it was pretty good. . . . Hmm. . . . "As is this. I think you're missing out here," he says, as he cuts another portion off.
The music is just as intoxicating as any wine, with the soft, soothing rythims, and the beautiful voice of the woman singing ballads in elven giving it enough emotion for you to actually feel the music. Some of the other patrons of the restaurant are dancing on the small dance floor around the band. It's a beautiful dance, if you looked in more than passing. Each couple has their eyes closed, letting the mucis dictate their movements, and none of them are bumping into each other. It looks like it is a beautifully correographed bit done for a movie.
Rinon pours himself another glass of wine, and looks at Krista, and eyebrow slightly raised, and the bottle still in his hands, as though asking if she would like a refill.
Krista looks back over at him and shakes her head "No I'm alright, but thank you...." she continues to eat listening to the music. She glanced at Rinon and smiles "You wouldn't happen to dance would you? Just curious that all?" she took another bite of her salad then took a sip of her drink.
The music seem to capture her in its rythym, she was worrying over if she would say something wrong of knock something over. At this point she felt at peace and felt as if it was only Rinon and herself in this magical place.
Rinon looks up from the plate, and kind of "Hmm?"s. He then swallows his food, and smiles slightly. He looks over at the dancers, and nods. "It's a common dance, I learned it in my youth. One of the times my mother kicked me out of the house and told me to act my age," he chuckles a little. "I could teach you if you like, after we eat. . . .?" he offers.
Krista smiles and nods "Yes that would be great..." she continues to eat watching the dancers, she wached there movement. It was amazing, all of this was. "If this is all a dream, I hope I never wake up..." she spoke outloud then bite her bottom lip. "Sorry...I didn't mean to say that..."
Rinon grins now. He leans forward, and says, almost conspiratorily, "I was thinking the same thing, so no need to appologize." He leans back again, and goes about cutting the rest of the elk. "Alright, if you have room, we will order desert. And, then, I can show you how to do the dance while we wait for it to arrive. Does that sound agreeable?" he asks, lifting his glittering eyes from his plate again to meet Krista's.
Krista smiles and nods "Agreed, and I'll this time I'll follow your lead on the desert..." she placed her fork down in her empty plate then finished off her wine.
Placing the glass down she placed her hands in her lap then smiles "So how is the elk? I've never tried it, but I've been told it good...."
"It's decent," Rinon jokes. "Honestly, it's better than I though it would be," he admits, setting his own fork down on his empty plate.
Almost as though he was lurking in the shadows, waiting for them to complete this course, the server appears at their table, and asks them if they would like him to take their plates, all the while Rinon blinking up at him.
"Ah, yes. Can we see the desert menu?" he asks in elven.
"Of course, sir," the server says, and pulls out a pair of menues from the apron he is wearing. He sets them down on the table and whisks the dishes away.
"Well, this one sounds good. It's a sort of elven cake, with a thick cream and honey sauce on top of it. . . ." Rinon explains. "Then, there is another type of cake, a bit moister than the first I suggested. It is filled with fresh fruit," he pauses. "Ah, this one is a nice desert. It is a sort of tart cake, with cooked berries, and honey drizzled on it." He looks back at Krista. "Those are the best. . ."
Krista smiles "So many good choices...hmmmm...I guess I like the first one the best...so that my choice..." she shrugs alittle giving him a sweet smile then looking back toward the dancers. You would have never guess she wanted to get out on the dance floor.
"Good choice," Rinon says. "It's one of my favorite," he admits.
The server mysteriously appears again, and Rinon is left wondering how the hell he got their plates back there and came back so fast. . . .
"Are you ready?" the server asks politely.
Rinon nods, and orders, still a little confused. When the server diappears again, he shakes his head, and stands. He offers his hand to Krista and, with a serious face, he asks, "Would you care to join me for a dance?"

Krista hadn't notice the server disappear again as she takes Rinon hand "I would love to..." standing she places her purse in her chain then her napkin over her purse.
She breathed slowly, she had butterfly in her stomach, she looks at Rinon and bites her lip and whispers "What if i mess up...."
"Don't worry," Rinon says. "You just get lost in the music. As corny as it sounds. . . . It DOES lead you," Rinon says as he leads her onto the dance floor. He bows deeply to her, and then holds out his hands, waiting for her to take them.
She curties to him and takes his hand, she watched him and only him as she listen to the music. He was right the music slowly did take her again, and it was only her and him in the room.
She looked up at his eyes and smiles, truely smiles, her own deep blue eyes shining showing that she was happy that he was with him.
Rinon smiles, though he blushes a little, back at Krista. He's not used to seeing such happiness in a woman's eyes, having been with his mother so much, and recently, Lenore. All she shows is anger when she is with him.
That, and the happiness is directed at him, apparently. "Whenever you feel comfortable," he says sofly, trying to take his mind off of the dancers that have suddenly apeared in his stomach. "You can close your eyes. It is more challenging, but that is how partners somehow KNOW they are supposed to be dancing with each other," he explains that part of the dance, having only just remembered it himself.
Krista nods and follow his lead. Once she was sure she had the guts to do it, she leans in and kisses Rinon cheek again just as she closed her eyes. She pulls back to reveal to him she closed her eyes.
She had butterflies biiger than her hand in her stomach now, she didn't want to mess up so she trusted her self and followed the music.
Rinon is suddenly happy that Krista has her eyes closed, for he is sure he is as red as a cherry right now. . . . Slowly, he closes his eyes, and does just as Krista does - he lets the music sweep him away.
'So far so good,' he thinks to himself, beginning to breathe again. He's just a bit worried he will step on her feet or something, but he pushes that away, focusing entirely on the music.
Krista moved gracefully, she didn't seem to miss a step as she moved with Rinon. This made her feel better. Moving closer to Rinon she placed her hand on his chest, feeling his heartbeat. She giggles alittle and continues to dance in his arms, hoping to the heaven that this wouldn't end anytime soon.
Rinon is grinning when she giggles again. The hand that isn't holding hers moves to rest lightly on the small of her back.
He dances equally as graceful, and somehow feels as though one of the pages of the old fairy tails he read when things got REALLY bad has just, suddenly, come to life. You know the page, the one with the prince and the princess finally meeting, and dancing all night at the ball.
He's silently willing the stove in the kitchen to break, or for the restaurant to be out of cream or honey, or something. Just to dance a little longer.
Well, desert could always wait. . . . he thinks, smiling again as the music washes over him. He'd stop dancing when Krista did. . . .
Krista couldn't help it, she had to open her eyes and look at him. This was all so perfect. licking her bottom lip again she takes the hand that was on his chest and lightly touches his cheek with her gloved hand.
She whispers softly to him "What fairytale did we step into, because I don't want or wish to leave it..."
Rinon's eyes snapped open. He smiles a little. "Maybe Cinderella? I doubt you have evil step sisters who make you sleep next to the fire place, though," he says, and he looks down at her feet. "And, look at that, no glass slipper. Curfew?" he asks, teasing a bit. Then, he is serious again. "I feel the same as you. And, once good thing has come from dancing like that. At least I know I am supposed to be dancing with you. This night, anyway. Who knows, on some other night, we could have been terrible," he jokes.
He watches as the server brings the desert to their table, but says nothing. He's still not going to stop dancing until Krista does.
Krista had also notice that the desert had arrived, but she didn't want to stop dancing. She got more daring and ran her floved finger along his bottom lip as they danced "Cinderella....hmm...its not midnight is it?" she giggles and looks down blushing.
Rinon blushes again, as well. "I don't think it is," he replies, still remaining the gentleman and not doing anything. Even keeping his eyes only on Krista's face. Though, he does find himself toying with the ends of her curls with his fingers.
Krista looks up "And here I thought it was Sleeping Beauty we stepped into, the dancing, the eyes closed...it seemed like a dream...." she blushes and doesn't continue what she was going to say. She didn't want to scare Rinon so she just looked at his shirt.
Rinon continues toying with her hair, as he lifts an eyebrow. "Ok, I won't press you to finish your sentence," he says, the teasing back in his voice. He is a little curious, though.
The beat of the music is changing a little, becoming a tad faster.
Krista looked at him and smiles as she leans in inches from his lip "The only thing that is missing is the Kiss to awaken the princess..." she steps away from him and smiles "So are you ready to go have desert?"
She turns to look at the table then looks back at him waiting for him.
Oh gods, he thinks. Did she mean she wants a kiss, or is she just a . . . well, something to say? He blinks a little dumbly. After a moment of that, he leans forward and kisses her cheek, ever the gentleman still. "I know that might not be quite the kiss you were after, but," he gives a half smile. "That will have to wait until the end of the night. . . ."
Then, Rinon takes her hand and leads her to the table. "Desert, as you wish," he says.
Krista smiles and laughs alittle touching her cheek "Rinon you are indeed a very very interesting gentlemen..." she picks up her purse and napkin from her seat before sitting.
Looking at the cake she smiles "This does look good..."
"It tastes as good as it looks," Rinon says, lifting his fork. "I think you'll like it." He cuts a little bit of his cake off, and waits for Krista to try it first.
Picking up her fork she cuts a piece of the cake of and takes a bite. She looks up at him and smiles and nods in agreement to him, it was melting in her mouth it tasted that good.
"This is amazing...it melts in your mouth...." she licks the honey from her lips and smiles. "This is great..."
Rinon smiles, satisfied. "Good," he says, taking a bite himself. Since coming to Gaia, this is one of the things he missed. THIS desert. He didnt' even think it would be on the menu. . . . He takes a drink from his wine, and starts cutting more of the cake. "The deserts are always the best part of elven cuisine. I wish there were a good bakery around here. . . ." he muses aloud. Maybe he'll stumble across one when he goes on another walk. . . .
Krista smiles "I've beat you to that one...I've know of a place, its run by a good friend of mine and her husband....I'll have to take you there." she takes another bite of the cake before picking up her glass and taking a sip of the water.
"Yes, you will. I would stockpile everything they have there," Rinon chuckles. "Sweets are a weakness of mine. . . ." he starts cutting the whole of his peice of cake into bits, so that he doesn't have to stop every time. He soaks up some of the honeyed-cream with the cake and pops it into his mouth. "How long have you known the owners of the bakery?" he asks, making light conversation again.
Krista smiles "Since they moved with us....Nana and Craig, I met Nana while shopping with Aylana one day. Nana told me about how they just got to Gaia and they didn't have much. So I let them move in with us. Nana help me out with Tinania. Pretty soon after that, they opened a shop not to far from the inn..."
She takes another bite then looks back up. "Its be closed for a few days now though. Craig sick so Nana taking care of him until he get better..." she smiles
"I hope it's nothing serious. . . " Rinon says, pausing in the act of taking another bite. "Craig's illness, I mean."
Krista smiles and shakes her head "No he got the common cold from Aylana daugther Virendra..." she smiles and continues to take another bite until she is finished. Placing her fork down she smiles "Craig doesn't get sick all that often so when he does Nana wants him to stay home that way she can spoil him.....he says he hates it but really he doesn't..."
Rinon smiles a little. "Of course, what man doesn't like being spoiled?" he asks, finishing off his cake as well. "Well, as long as is going to be fine. . . . They sound nice, from what you tell me."
Krista nods and smiles "They are, its great having them had to home." she places her hands in her lap and smiles "That was a good meal...I'm gonna have to come back to thsi place....it just I don't know...but I feel at home here..."
"I'm glad you feel that way," Rinon says, smiling. "Maybe, if things go well," he adds. "I'll bring you back here somewhere down the road. That is, if I am not driven out of town," he chuckles. Then, he goes serious again. "I hope I was not out of line suggesting that. . . ." he says, suddenly a little nervous.
Krista smiles "No your not out of line for saying that all, to tell you the true if I did come back to this magical place I would hope it was with you. So that if we dance again i could see if I am meant to dance with you again...." she smiles and pushes back a few locks off hair off her shoulder.
Rinon smiles, a little more than relieved now. "Great," he says, a little laugh in his voice. "And, between now and then, fates willing, and I don't frighten you off, you can chose a place. Show me some of the not-so-elven things. . ." he suggests.
Krista eyes brighten and she smiles "Well then I have the prefect place to show you....I think you would like it...but that would be for when we go out again..." she had hoped he caught the when that she said to let him know he didn't scare her and that he was hoping for this to happen again.
She looked around and smiles "its seem this is going to end soon....I know your going to have to get back to your mother soon, and I to my family....." she takes and places her napkin on the table grabbing her purse.
Rinon DID catch it, and he feels relief again. "Great," he finds himself repeating. Then, he stands and says. "You're right. All fairy tales come to an end, whether we want them to or not." He slips back into his cloak, and holds out an arm to Krista again. I'll have the carriage called around, and then pay the check. You can wait in there if you like." He doesn't want her seeing the check, actually. He's a bit crazy about that sort of thing. He doesn't like people knowing how much he spends on gifts and the like. . . .
Krista nods and smiles as she takes his arm to stand "Okay I'll wait here until your return....." she looks around the place one more time trying to remember it all, she knew she be dreaming about this place again soon.
Rinon nods, and goes to the podium from before. He asked that the carriage be brought around, and for the check. He is handed the check, looks at it, and doesn't even blink. he pulls some gold out of his cloak, and pays with that. "The rest is a tip for the server," he explains.
Once that is taken care of, he returns to Krista. "The carriage should be in front now. Shall we?" he asks, placing a feather-light hand on the small of her back.
Krista nods and smiles then steps forward heading towards the door. She only glaces back once to watch the dancers one more time before she step out inot the cold.
Rinon offers her his cloak. The night is chillier than when they got here, and Krista seems a bit more open to the elements. He speeds up his walking, though, wanting to get down the path and into the carriage, where it will be marginally warmer.
Krista smiles and places the cloak on and follows him, she wonder why when she had changed her outfit she didn't also get herself a cloak. She climbs up into the carriage and smiles when she feels the warmth hit her bare skin.
Rinon follows her inside. Once the door is closed, the carriage lurches again, taking them back to town.
Now that he is more relaxed, the drive seems extremely shorter, and Rinon is a bit caught off guard with how quickly they return to the inn.
He steps out, and holds out his hand for Krista again.
Lurking in the shadow, however, is Lenore. She was hunting, and was going to go and have a nice long chat with Rinon anyway, maybe give him a chance. She watches, a little shocked, as a large, rich carriage pulls in front of the inn, and Rinon steps out, seemingly decked out in the best clothes he could buy.
'Who's the idiot woman with him?' she thinks sourly. 'Probably that looney claiming to be my mother. . . .'
Krista takes Rinon hand and steps ot of the carriage, she smiles and looks down at the snow "I don't know what to say other then I had a great night Rinon, you made me feel like a Princess....." she looks up at him and bites her bottom lip "I hope maybe sometime again real soon we can step into another fairytale"
Rinon smiles down at Krista, and gently pushes a whisp of hair out of her face. "I hope so, too," he admits. Then, he remembers he promised her something. So, slowly, he leans toward her. Should she not shy away, his lips will brush hers.
Lenore's eyes widen as she watches Krista step from the carriage, and Rinon leaning down. She feels her blood pumping and her fists ball. Her best friend, her frikking SISTER, is shacking up with a looney set to drive Lenore insane!
She jumps into the air, riding the wind a little. She doesn't stop until she reaches the manor. She'll be waiting for Krista. . . .
Krista didn't shy as she felt his lips brush her, she blosed her eyes and touched his cheek lightly with her gloved hand again, again she felt like she was in a dream.
Rinon keeps it a little brief, not really wanting to, but propriety telling him that he should. He smiles again, and tells Krista. "I hope to see you again soon. . . ."
Krista smiles as she opens her eyes "You will Rinon you will..." she waves goodbye to him before she turns and vanishes.
She reappears inside the manor, she smiles and touches her lips. Leaning down she slips off her shoes and creeps towards the stairs not to wake anyone in the manor.
Lenore is sitting in an armchair when Krista gets home, in the thick darkness.
But she can see. Oh yes, she can. And her hearing and smell are ever better. She snaps her fingers, and one of the lamps light.
"Ah, you're home," she says in a soft, cold voice.
Krista jumps turning towards Lenore, she bites her bottom lip and smiles alittle "Um, yea...I just went for a walk...couldn't sleep.....but I'm tired now so I thought I'd go lay down..." she turns and tries to head up the stair but she knew she wasn't gonna be going anywhere.
Lenore sniffs, loudly, at the air. "I smell something I don't like," she starts, and stands slowly. Just as slowly, and deliberately, she faces Krista. "I smell a lie. . . ."
Krista looks at her best friend "Lenore...please, don't be mad at me...." she looks to the ground, she was shaking, she didn't want to lie to her best friend, but she also didn't want to lose a chance of getting to know the person that Lenore hated "I know I broke your trust..."
"Stepping out with a loony," Lenore says. "You broke my trust for that con-artist?" she says, her voice rising. "That. . . . b*****d that is looking to shred my sanity?"
Krista looks up at Lenore "He not bad, Lenore if you just gave him a chance. He's really a great guy. He only wants what best for you Lenore, as do I you know this, I can't help if I wanted to get to know him better. I'm an adult who gone without having anyone to talk to in so long...." she shook her head and sigh, she knew Lenore wasn't gonna beileve her.
Lenore feels a stab of guilt, for being so angry. But then, she is angry for feeling guilty, and it overpowers the guilt. "Bollocks," she says. "You believe what you want, Krista," she starts, a sudden flash of selfishness piercing through her. "But, I think you need to think about how much you value our friendship before you see him again." She shakes her head. "Gods, I can smell him on you. I need to get some fresh air. . . ." with that, she makes for the front door.
Krista growls and throws her shoes to the ground she in tears "You know what, that was harsh. He the closet thing I have right now to knowing what its like being an elf Lenore. And if your gonna make me choose then I don't want to choose. But you remember this I choose you over my own family, I have a dead wish on my head because I wanted you alive. But I will not let you choose who I can and cannot see.You said you were not like your father but right now you are acting like your father....." she turns away.
Lenore growls, and looks about ready to leap across the room at Krista. Her eyes are crimson right now, and her nails are digging so hard into her hands that she can feel a little blood coming from the cuts. She opens her mouth to say something, but then clenches her teeth, a loud grinding noise coming from them, before she snarls, spins on her heels, opens the door, and then steps out. She slams the door with such force that one of the panes of glass in it comes loose and shatters on the floor.
Krista falls to her knees in tears she dug her hands into the dress. She was so angry at Lenore, but was also angry at herself "Why did I say that....." right now she wanted away from the place and wanted to be with Rinon "So much for fairy tales...." standing she walks over and picks up the broken glass cutting herself a few times but doesn't notice it.
Lenore is standing a few yards away from the door, just breathing deeply and trying to calm herself. What Krista said was wrong, very wrong. She is NOTHING like her father, dammit! She just doesn't want Krista getting hurt when she sees Rinon for what he reallys ******** it," she mumbles. "If she wants to look like an a**, it's her problem, not mine. . . ." Nevertheless, she goes, looking for Rinon. She'll give him another chance, for Krista. But, this is the last chance. . . .
Krista stands watching the blood drip down her arm as she walks over to the kitchen to get rid of the glass. Once the glass was in the trash she looked at her hand, she didn't realize how badly her hand was cut up until she saw it. Walking over to the kitchen she turns on the sink then places her hand under the water as she grabs the phone with her other hand and dials the number to the inn.
Lenore is at the inn in no time. She is running up the stairs so quickly, no one can see her, and she opens the door just as Rinon is answering the phone.
"Hello?" he says, still a little confused by the phone.
Krista breaths slowly as Rinon answer the phone "So much for fairy tales....look Rinon maybe this was all a bad idea....Me and Lenore just got into a huge fight, she stormed off out of the house....I just finished picking up broken glass, I cut my hand up badly....I don't want to choose between you two...." she watched as the water turned red. "Rinon I don't want to give up getting to know you.... but I don't want to lose my best friend......"
Rinon sighs, still not knowing that Lenore is in the room. "I understand, and I could never ask you to chose," he says softly. "I guess one fairy tale ending is all we are going to get. . . ."
Lenore feels another stab of guilt. . . . Maybe she is being too hard on Rinon. . . .
Krista keeps looking at the water "Rinon I'm sorry.....I hope your mother get better and I hope you find true love someday..." she then hangs up the phone and looks at her hand, it had stop bleeding yet she felt the pain still.
Rinon hangs the phone up slowly. He walks dejectedly back to his bed, all the while Lenore watching him.
Feeling stupid, Lenore hurries from the room, and back to the manor. She is intent on avoiding Krista if she can, though. . . .
Krista slide to the ground and sat there she had brought her knees up to her chest, she watched the room as the date played over in front of her. Wthin minutes she was in tears again. She grabs the phone again to dail the Inn again. Her hand was shaking as she hope to dear god that Rinon would pick up the phone.
Lenore slips back into the manor silently. She stops dead in her tracks when she hears the faint ringing in the kitchen. She is still, not moving a muscle as she tries not to listen.
Rinon gets off of his bed heavily, and drags his feet to the phone. "Hello?" he asks again, vaguely wondering through his slowly incoming depression who else could be calling at this hour.
Krista smiles when she hear Rinon voice "Rinon....I have to see you again, I know Lenore will hate me, but I gotta go with how I feel....and right now I feel numb, I don't want to continue like that and hate myself for giving up something that I might have a chance at...." she pause then breaths again "Rinon can I see you again tomorrow night?"
Lenore blinks, and sighs a little, as quietly as she can. But, she stays where she is. . . .
Rinon is quiet for a long time, as though weighing everything. His sister seemed like a dangerous woman if you made her REALLY mad, but you had to cross that line. . . . Finally, he nods. "Of course," he says.
Krista smiles and closes her eyes "Great I will see you outside the inn tomorrow then okay? And Rinon....thank you again for making me feel like a princess and feel like I belong...." she stands slowly and turns the water off before walking out of the kitchen, she walked right pass Lenore and didn't see her. She stood there at the edge of the steps with the phone still at her ear.
"It was my pleasure, Krista," Rinon says, genuinely. "And I look forward to tomorrow."
Lenore walks to the kitchen now, suddenly wishing she could drink right now. . . .
Krista smiles "I will see you then..." she hangs up the phone and places it down on the table by the stairs, she looks back at the door and frowns and sighs speaking outloud "Lenore I hope that one day you'll forgive me...." she turns and climbs up the stairs heading to her room.
'Whatever,' Lenore thinks, as she hurries out of the kitchen and to her own room, slamming the door a little. She flops onto her empty bed after she closes all of the curtains. She looks at Eirnae's side, sighing a little. 'She'll be back soon,' she thinks, before closing her eyes and falling into her deep slumber.
