Why would he take off internet? You might need it when you need to do research paper. Well, you can go to a library to go on the internet. :c

Jiti Why would he take off internet? You might need it when you need to do research paper. Well, you can go to a library to go on the internet. :c unfortunately, the closest library is at least a half hour or more away, and it has horrible hours... the easiest thing for me to do is do anything that requires internet at the school. I will also be coming onto here from the school... sadly, I will be graduating next year... Another issue I have with this is that I NEED to be able to check my school e-mail from home. My teachers often send out important information via the e-mail. I'm also a tutor for the school, and I occasionally have students who need help ask to make an appointment via e-mail, and my boss also sends important info via e-mail. gonk I cannot wait to move out... I can't take any more of this... some of you remember that this is not the first time he has done this... He's a bloody control freak, and wants to control every aspect of our lives. I have had enough. scream as far as why goes, I'm not very sure on that... the only explanation I got is that my brother did anything but work on his project via the internet this week when he knew he had a project to work on that was due today, and he apparantly waited until my dad got home to start working on it, and was up until 11:30 or so working on it. And we must all suffer the consequences...>.<

The first time he decided to disconnect the internet, his boss had a fit and told him that he cannot do that because my dad occasionally has to do some work from home... So, my dad hid the modom and disconnecting the internet and cable from the outside box and putting a lock on it to make sure we didn't sneak the internet while he was at work... It sounds like that's what he's gonna do again because his boss will once again tell him that he cannot disconnect the internet...

Awww, I'm sorry =( Tell your dad you need it because of the school stuff. Do you get paid at all (you mentioned having a boss)? You could pay for your own connection. Get one of those wireless router thingies that is basically just a little stick you plug into your computer.

Get one of those wireless router thingies that is basically just a little stick you plug into your computer. Just terminology here, but a wireless router is usually something you plug into the building modem to provide a wireless access point to that building. However, now that I'm thinking about it, there are options like satellite internet (probably overkill) or maybe like a mobile (like cellphone/smartphone) network where you can connect via cell towers. I'm pretty sure a couple companies do that sort of service and some of them are actually fairly fast, though of course they have nothing on a land line. Idk how much it'd cost though. Or you can get a smart phone and at the very least use it to check your mail. Some non-smart phones will do mail too I had my old phone set up to do mine until I figured out the charge for data on a non-data plan lol.

What I'm talking about is this or this. There are also a few other companies that provide them, for different rates. It's a wireless card, but not a wireless card as in the kind that is inside of your computer that allows you to find wireless in the first place, so that's why I'm not quite sure what to call it.

There's people in my program without Internet at home, few but it exists. You're teachers will have no choice but to understand and send any info 24hrs in advance. Internet is a luxury not everyone can afford it. But most colleges block facebook so that'll be sucky sad

thankfully, my dad decided not to disconnect the internet. we're limited to being able to be on it only after dinner on weekdays and it will be on all weekend, though...
I can't put in enough hours at my job to be able to afford internet... As far as internet on my phone goes, I can't get that... I'm on my parents' plan, and my dad doesn't want internet from the phones... If I want internet on my phones, I'd have to get my own and I can't afford one, let alone the service for it...
Thankfully, my school doesn't block facebook... Everything I visit regularly isn't blocked, so I'm good as far as going online from my school goes. biggrin

Another thing you can consider is chipping in a little on the internet bill, then he might not be so strict about it.
