If you're into the J-Rock scene, Miyavi's really good. =)
Back to J-Pop, I'm huge into Hamasaki Ayumi. I've got two of her albums and am hopefully going to be ordering more, eventually. Her voice is sort of an acquired taste, if you will, but she's good either way. The only song I really don't reccomend is Bold & Delicious. Ick.

hmm... yes, Utada Hikaru is really good ^_^ one of my favorties. Also Hamasaki Ayumi.
Try YUI, Kawabe Chieko, Yuna Ito, FUNKY MONKEY BABYS, Yanawaraba, V6, KAT-TUN, NewS, Otsuka Ai...
and... Arashi heart *loves Arashi* anyway... yeah. xd
