While I have the most experience with the Wii, and believe it to have the most potential of the three, I find that the end result balances all three to about the same level. If the 360 did not have the red-ring issues, I would put it in the lead, but that balances what WOULD be the best quite... significantly.
The PS3 is just sort of... mediocre, to be honest. It is just another 'system' with nothing particular special about it except having too many unnecessary features like a Blu-Ray. Though this does make it a variable and practical purchase for people with multiple needs, it does not make it particularly great as purely a gaming machine. The 360 is the best for that.
But the Wii is the most reliable, has had the most charm, and has good potential. So, honestly, I find none of them to be in the lead so much as radically different.

I am an owner of a Xbox 360. However, I've played both the Wii and Playstation 3. In my opinion, the Playstation 3 is a better system overall. It won me over with better graphics, internet browser, and better user interface. If more of my friends had a Playstation 3, it would be a definite buy.

I have had my 360 since 2005. It overheated in 2007, but when I got it fixed for free it lasted another 4 years without a problem. I have played the PS3, but the 360 has more of a satisfying feel when you pull the trigger and press the buttons.

I know this is a guild and all and that we should respect all users but I seriously hate these console war threads even if they're kept friendly. I like all three consoles xbox360 for its FPS/TPS's, ps3 for its action adventure/hack & slasher/puzzle games and the ninwii for its mario games none the less. Every console will have its flaw rather it be one flaw or more then the other.

You make a valid and good point there, ThirioKing. 3nodding
I just like to rephrase the first post and think that I'm being asked which gaming console would I like to keep if I were forced to delete the other two consoles from existence.

I say PS3 rules. It has free online gaming, great graphics, awesome games, it feels natural, pro gamers, PSN Home, blue ray, great platformers, and I think that's it.

I'm in my 20s so I've been around since NES days and don't mind poor graphics as long as there's good gameplay and a decent story. I like Wii but a lot of the time I find the motion controls frustrating. PS3.. I hate Sony. Worst customer service ever and they keep releasing systems with bugs and problems. 360's alright but RRoD turned me off plus I heard it eats discs. I personally own a Wii only. Its not perfect and I sometimes feel like I'm missing out on a great gaming experience (ie: Arkham Asylum) since Wii can't handle the big titles on other consoles. But Wii does have a decent variety of fun games to appeal to all kinds of gamers. Free online play. 15 month warranty. And while the other 2 systems right now may have superior motion gaming.. you have to take into consideration when Wii came out. I mean as soon as Nintendo's unveils their next advanced motion system, I'm sure it'll blow Move and Kinect out of the water. o_o; Although this Motion Plus thing with Wii seems to be going nowhere - the only big upcoming title that actually supports it is the new Zelda.. It took Sony and Microsoft years to launch their own motion controls.. and I'm really not that impressed with either. Wii's pretty popular in social events. Whatever system you prefer.. you gotta take the good and the bad. None of them can really be the best of the best.

Wow. Wii sales and popularity apparently is now on a downward slide.. and now supposedly they will be unveiling a new system at E3 2011. I was wondering why there is like no big releases coming anytime soon on Wii - http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20054034-1.html?part=rss&subj=news&tag=2547-1_3-0-20
gonk Perhaps I should sell my Wii now before I end up in the same situation as my Gamecube.. e_e that's only going for like $16 on eBay these days.

I Play both system's, 360 is for more serious gamers with alot of different games when ps3 is more of a family type gaming system but kevin butler or w/e trying to make it for more hardcore/serious gamers all in all I'd say ps3 Plus i find Alot more "Mature" players on the PlayStation 3 then the Xbox 360
