Chakra Control [ Medical ] Speed The moment that the woman before her had called her cute, Mai frowned. She wasn't really a fan of compliments, that was Mizaki's territory. Generally, everything was Mizaki's territory besides the precision, that was all Mai. However, the girl was forced to acknowledge Rose's ability when she spotted the glow about her fist. It was apparently a medical technique for self-defense, one she hoped to learn in the future. "I can do that too, but mine's more powerful." She said, pausing for a moment to change subjects. "Of course I want the special kind of medical training, I work at the hospital for this village, so I already know most of the regular procedures." At the offer for gum, Mai simply waved the stick away from her, keeping her dead expression on the woman before her. When she spoke again, it was her name, and she felt obliged to reply in kind.  Dr. Rose Ikai Otogakure | Profession: Medical | Jounin | Raiton " Want some gum ? " " Aruwara Mai eh? " Rose said straightening up. ' Heh, she said hers was stronger, which I could see, she doesn't seem to be very weak, even though she is so young. ' Rose thought to herself. " Ok, since your work at the hospital, I have no choice as the residency director to teach you the fundementals of medical ninjutsu. " Rose said, a grin spreading across her face. " Ok, this will be quite fun. " Rose said, closing her eyes for a second and opening them again. Ok, First technique I'll teach you is this, Shindan, otherwise known as Diagnosis. I'm going to inject this bird with a neurotoxin, and you tell me what exactly is happening as this bird dies. " rose said, catching a blue bird out of the air as it swooped into the doorway. taking out a syringe just as fast she stuck the bird and injected it, kneeling to ut it on the ground her grin dimmed to pure emotionlessness. " Here are the handsigns, I'll only show you once. " She said, moving her hands together and making the handsigns for the technique. " The neurotoxin is actually slow and painful, if you act quickly you can save it, but if you don't, then the bird will die. think of it as your team mate. " rose said, her face still stone cold, she sttod to her full height instead f slouching, towering over Mai. " Now, preform the technique! " she said, her eyes turning into angry eyes. When Rose was teaching, she became a completely different person. ( yeah, I know i repeat stuff a lot xP , did i do a better job of it? although i repeated rose way too much. >.< ) Quote: Shindan (Diagnosis) Description: The first step in treatment is understanding the problem. With this skill a shinobi uses their hands to carefully probe a patient for problems. This technique is preformed by kneeling over a patient and slowly running both hands over their body, looking for signs of injury that may not be visible to the naked eye. It can detect things such as internal injury, improper heart rate, non-apparent bone fractures, poisoning, and disease. A ninja of higher rank has learned to use this technique to perform a rudimentary examination of a body to determine cause and time of death. A Genin using this skill takes several minutes of work to determine the nature of a problem, a Chuunin takes less than a minute and a Jounin requires only a few seconds.

Chakra Control [ Medical ] Speed The mention of fun didn't quite ring true to Mai when Rose had said it, since she didn't find being a shinobi all that enjoyable. She wasn't even sure she remembered why she wanted to become one, but it didn't matter now, there was no backing out since she had started. It was then that Rose began to teach the first technique. The problem with the technique was that it was just the simple shinobi version of diagnosing someone, although much quicker than normal. When Rose snatched the bird out of the air Mai watched intently, studying the liquid inside of the syringe as it was injected into the doomed creature. She couldn't guess what it was at all, but then again, she wasn't really experienced in the field of toxins. The hand signs were burned into her memory as each of them were showcased before her. Mai was confident in her ability to mirror them for the technique, but not as confident in her ability to actually perform it. Not even swayed in the slightest about what Rose had said about the bird, she slowly knelt down before the dying avian, each hand sign being performed slowly so that there was no error in her method. She moved her hands over the bird and concentrated chakra into her hands, attempting the technique. The girl winced in pain and immediately moved away from the bird, realizing that she had been using the chakra the wrong way. 'Don't mold it like an augmentation, mold it as a tool.' Mai thought to herself, performing the hand signs in quick succession and moving them back over the bird. Her cyan colored eyes slowly shut as she focused upon the chakra in her hands, fingers clasping the fragile creature lightly as she attempted to sort out the problem. Honestly, she didn't full except the save the thing by just diagnosing it fast, as at her level, such a thing would be possible with her massive inexperience in non-personal chakra use. Whether the bird died or not, she didn't care, it was just a bird, and her priority was learning how to properly use the technique, not saving a bird. [ I only noticed it because I was briefly looking over it again while I was doing my post. I would have missed it otherwise. xD I think you did fine with the name, although I'm super paranoid about repeating stuff. Also, shouldn't we be doing this inside the courtyard?] Chakra: 50/50

" Rose said, tapping her foot on the ground, using a bit of chakra in it to break the floorboard to pop the bird up into the air past Mai's face fast enough it actually made a wisking noise. Rose caught the bird in mid air an stared at it, twisting it's neck so it wouldn't have to suffer through the next ten to twenty minutes of it's agonizing life. Rose quickly turn, her red hair swingingaround, and threw the bird across the courtyard, the bir'd body making a wisking noise for a single second, then fading into the sky as it traveled quickly into a rice patty off somewhere else. " You did it wrong! As a doctor or a nurse you forgot the most important thing! You contaminated your patient and yourself, You have just killed your patient and you have put your own life at risk! " Rose said, beginning to breathe more rapidly. " Next Technique, Kiyomaru, also known as Cleanse. Hand signs, watch now! " Rose said, stringing the handsigns together, faster this time, but still slow enough it would be easy for her to get the signs. " Now, clean the impurity from your hands and forearms! " She said, her eyes murderous. ( Meh, repeating stuff doesn't bother me. Until I read through it, then it does. xD and nah, give the people walking in a little treat. Plus we are still standing in the doorway. ) Quote: Kiyomaru (Cleanse) Description: It is not always possible for a medical nin to practice basic hand washing and other procedures. This technique has the effect of instantly removing bacteria, dirt, blood, and other contaminants from the user’s hands, lower arms, and face. It also insures that any breath that comes from the user’s body will be free of any bacteria or infectious disease. This technique can also be used to clean the wounds of others in order to prevent infection from bacteria. It the event that the medical nin is using this technique to prevent infection of an injury that has been inflicted upon them, it is used as if the shinobi were using it on somebody else.

Chakra Control [ Medical ] Speed In the back of her mind Mai could just feel her itching to get out. She wanted to have fun, lots of fun, fun she hadn't had in ages since she was kept hidden in the back all the time. But she wouldn't get the chance too, not until later, since such low status didn't guarantee that she would be able to keep her secret safe. For now, Mizaki would have to stay hidden until she could meet with the Otogakure, or at least reach Chuunin, or Jounin rank. Moving on to the task at hand, Mai carved the hand-signs into memory once more, going over them in her mind before slowly performing them in the air before her. In her mind it was like someone had poured liquid mint over her arms, a strange feeling of freshness coming forth from her clothed forearms. As well as her breath. It was peculiar to have such a sensation, and she found it even more useful than having to adorn small amounts of useless gear in the operating rooms at the clinic. But, for appearances, she would keep her medical shinobi training from everyone she worked with at the building. Finished with the short, and simple technique. Mai looked back up to Rose with her still dead, cold eyes, seemingly ignoring the murderous gaze that was thrust upon her by the rather brash, strange woman before her. "Next?" Chakra: 50/50

" Rose said, breaking a thin tube filled with a weak gas that affects eyesight, blurring it. " This gas that is now surrounding us is going to blur your vision, if you can't preform this next technique I'll have to cure you, and I promise, it won't feel very good. " Rose said, dropping the tube and looking directly into Mai's eyes, she brought her hands together and moved them quickly enough that a ninja asfast as a genin would have trouble seeing them, but Mai would be able to see it easily. " This is called Teikouryoku, or Power of Resistance. Preform it now! " she said, her own chakra forming and upping her defence, even though she was basically immune to it from putting it in the vial and being around it for years. Rose took mental note of Mai's body language, saw the relief of not having to wear gloves around the hospital all the time. Rose was going through all of the people who worked at the hospital, Nurses, fellow doctors, interns, residents, every single person. ' Aruwara Mai... why can't I remember her... ' rose though to herself, still staring intently into Mai's eyes to look for any sign that she felt anything, aside from pain. ( Awww, I wonder if I can break her... Probably not, But oh well. It'll be fun xD ) Quote: Teikouryoku (Power of Resistance) Description: A medical nin must always be aware of becoming a victim of whatever their patient is suffering from. With this technique a medical nin temporarily increases their resistance to diseases and poisons. It has no effect on diseases or poisons already affecting the medical nin. This technique improves as the medical nin grows in power and affords greater resistance to a wider range of diseases and poisons. Chakra Control [ Medical ] Speed Mai didn't even flinch when Rose had broken the vial in front of her, instead focusing on the hands before her as they moved in quick succession to showcase the hand signs that she would need to perform in order to protect herself from the harmless gas. It was silly, having to do this over gas that would blur vision, and no doubt wear off in a few hours. Things would have made more sense if they were in a situation where she could contract some lethal disease from someone. Of course, that may not have been the woman's style, since that could potentially put her student in danger. Recalling the hand signs required for the technique, Mai once against shut her eyes, moving through them slowly as she spoke aloud the name of the medical jutsu. She didn't feel anything afterwards, and just assumed it worked, since apparently there were no telltale signs that it was working until you began to get to work, which Mai had none to do. Finished, and somewhat satisfied that she now already had three medical jutsu, she once again looked towards Rose with the question "next" on her mind. [ That, and can you post the rank of the technique along with it's description? =x Also, I'll need to learn water walking and wall/tree/whatever walking later on. ] Chakra: 44/50

{ In answer to Meta's earlier question, yes, you should be in the courtyard. Otogakure shinobi are not supposed to use jutsu where anyone can spot them doing it, a jounin teacher would not be foolish enough to break that rule. }

" Rose said, making a quick set of handsigns and disapating in a glorious flash of electricity, the air around where she was a split second ago still traced with static waves, charging Mai's clothes and hair so that if she touched something metal it would shock her. A faint voice could be heard, and at the other end of the courtyard visible from the doorway rose was standing against the wall, looking at the ground, her nose wrinkled in anger. " GET THE HELL OVER HERE! " She said, tilting her head up. ( exit to courtyard ) ( @ meta Sure, I was teaching you the basics as they came up, but I messed up on the bird bit. I was going to teach you everything to actually save it. but it didn't work out right. also, I just read that, I'll have rose teach it to you before she makes sure you learned everything. @ hinote It was at the entance to the courtyard, I didn't think there would be any problem with that, since we are in the back of the dojo, about in the courtyard. Oh well, This actually gives rose some room to teach Mai some raiton techniques, and make sure she learned well. twisted Also, rose is a few fries short of a happy meal... She is also a happy meal short of a happy meal, buuut she doesn't exactly show it.

A few loose petals falling from a branch as two feet lightly set down upon it. Her soft eyes stayed closed as her arms remained at her side, the long cloth that hung from her arms fell back in it's normal place. Amazing silver hair fell around her body and seemed to fit her perfectly. It caught in the little sunlight that reached her, yet it was only enough to show a little of it's true beauty. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she inhaled and exhaled the sweet day air. Oh how she loved living in Otogakure. She could really let herself out and not have a care in the world. She was always like that and some seemed to curse her, or perhaps that was for the constant tricks she played on people. Ever since she was young she had a blast using whatever she could to cause an illusion for someone and freak them out. Those were the days. She had calmed down a bit since then, but just a little bit. "I wish there was someone around to pick on. It seems like forever ago since I had a chance to play with someones mind..." she chuckled quietly to herself. Her eyes opened and fell upon the dojo below. It didn't seem like there was anyone there. Shame really. Maybe someone would show up though. That would really place a smile upon her face. ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀ || 25/25 ||
