This is where I shall post how to know if something is a scam or not 3nodding for example, have you ever done an offer for free item or free gaia cash? I bet you have as we all probably have at one point to gain the free cash. Anyway, there can be scams hidden in those offers you fill out for the free gaia cash or free item. 3nodding

Below is a picture taken by a user of a program trying to steal her password. Some users know how to create programs or websites to ask for a person's user name and password. Usually stating it needs to verify it is you. Do not fall for this trick. You may not know what user it is using a program or a site to try and trick away your information but report it immediately. I believe you simply submit a report if a user PMed you a link to a site that brought up asking for user name and password. If you are on gaia and it pops up as it appears to have in this picture then simply take a screen picture (do so by pressing the PrtSc button or it may be labeled SysRq when done open Paint and paste it on there and save) and upload the picture to an image site you use and send the screen picture to an Moderator or Admin explaining what was happening when it popped up and they should deal with it. 3nodding

I just got almost similar pop up. Seriously... don't ever enter your password in that thing. Even though it said you won something. Don't be gullible and stupid. If Gaia want to give you a prize, they will sent you a pm saying you won something and will "never" request your password.
If you got the message and you feel sudden lag. Clear your history, cache and cookies. It might have sent you a keylogger.

Plus the scammer usually is bad at spelling =X. The real Gaia would never do such embarrassing mistake.

Just got this pm today after reporting the phishing pop up by Emilia Hersey in Rose's profile yesterday. If only they have an achievement for scam report. (too addicted to achievement) Chocobo Princess Hello, HijackSoul, Thank you so much for taking the time to report this attempted phishing to us. We have dealt with the account that sent you the message, and that individual will no longer be sending these messages to anyone else. Good job keeping your password safe and not falling for this trick. We appreciate your reporting and trying to keep Gaia a safe and fun place for all its members! Sincerely, Chocobo Princess Gaia Online Site Moderator

I have a rather ominous FLP for everyone today... It's Obey's SOF11 Fake Log-In Page. It is so realistic, it's scary! The first page starts off as a regular item update as told by Dr. Singh, but then offers a FREE SOF Taiga! All you have to do is click the link. It redirects you to a log-in page, where your information gets stored until the hacker tries to log into your account.
But the scariest part? The fake EI Report shows you logged into Gaia at the top of the page---it has YOUR avatar, YOUR username, and YOUR gold amount! You would never know that you weren't on a Gaia page! gonk
And the redirecting log-in page? Looks exactly the same as Gaia's new log-in page. Even redirects you past a "Confirm" URL, then sends you directly into your inventory. You'd leave Gaia, input your password, and never know the difference.
The BEST way to stay safe from this is to ALWAYS READ THE URL IN YOUR ADDRESS BAR, no matter how familiar the log-in page looks to you! If you forget to check the address bar, please keep Gaia's Redirect Warning ACTIVE at ALL times! Now it's time to enjoy some screenshots. =) These are all REAL screenshots from Obey's SOF11 FLP.

No prob. ^^ I also have his new FLW for towns:

Though a lot of people seem to be wondering if it is Flash or HTML based scripts. I'll get back to you as soon as I found out.
Towns NEVER lets people log back in while still in the game! You loose whatever you had, so NEVER input your password in Towns!
