Shining Blade StarDust Café
When Vane first heard of the MMO ‘Shining Blade, she knew she’d have to try it. It was supposed to be far more interactive, far more lifelike, than any MMO that had preceded it. In short, everyone was going to be playing it.
So, the day it came out, Vane had gone out and gotten it, installed it, and booted it up. She had carefully crafted her Healer, a young lady of about average height with medium length black hair. Unfortunately, the game gave her only the default healer robes, but they would have to do.
~~~
When Vane first spawned into the world of Shining Blade, she found herself in what appeared to be a tavern. There were tables scattered all around, with people of any of the different races chatting and mingling over drinks.
A man brushed past her, a tall, lithe dark elf with glowing gold eyes and messy dark hair. “Sorry!” He smiled politely, as he stepped by. A small human girl in a long, flowing dress approached Vane and eyed her for a moment, but appeared to realize that she wasn’t who she was looking for and walked on.
Star had said she had gotten the game, and would try and meet Vane immediately… where was she? And Coff should be getting on soon…
She slowly made her way through the tavern, carefully looking for people she thought she might recognize. She passed numerous players, all of different sizes, sexes, and Races. She passed by a young beast-girl chatting avidly with a group of humans and elves, each of them completely at attention, and at another table, a young man with messy brown hair and dressed in extravagant black-and-gold politely asked for participants for his card tricks.
“Vane?” Vane looked over. Sure enough, there was Star. Vane was surprised she had missed her. Star looked practically exactly as she did on Gaia; long flowing silver hair, pale skin, and bright blue eyes. She was dressed in billowing white robes similar to Vane’s, except that Vane’s had a red stripe in certain locations.
“Star!” Vane smiled in greeting, and the two hugged. “I was beginning to think I wouldn’t find you!” She laughed and examined her robes. “What class did you pick?”
“I know, crowded in here, isn’t it?” Star agreed. “And I picked Wizard. Have you seen any of the others?”
“Well, coff’s getting on right now… who else should I be looking for?” Vane asked, glancing around.
“Darth said He’s already been playing for a whole day.” Star frowned and huffed a bit. “I don’t know how, since the game just got released. But he’s probably around somewhere. A Miso should be around here somewhere… Sky said she’d try it later.”
“Oh, There you guys are!” Coff said, approaching with another character, easily identified as Miso. Coff’s character was almost identical to Vane’s, albeit shorter, and dressed in leather armor.
“Leather!?” Vane asked, confused. “What class did you pick!?”
Coff blanched. “Well, I wanted something where I could shoot things! The closest they have as a starter is ‘Archers’!”
Miso looked at the three of them. He also looked almost identical to his avatar, except covered in bright Silver armor. He was a paladin, of course. “I ran into coff first. “He nodded. “I’ve been playing for about an hour, waiting for you guys. I’m already level five.”
“Really!?” Star asked, surprised. “I’m only level 3! I want to kill something!” Vane looked at coff, and coff looked back at her. “We’re both still level one. Can we still help out?”
Miso nodded. “It should be fine. We’ll fight one of the simple monster bosses that spawns around here.”
After the crowded tavern, Vane was surprised how open it was outside. The tavern was situated at the edge of a country town. Trees swayed gently in the wind all along the dirt paths that lead to the town, and away, and birds flew overheard, singing cheerfully.
Miso lead them to a large, open field. Vane looked around. “I don’t…see anything?” She glanced around.
Coff nodded. “Yeah, it’s just an empty field!”
“It is lacking a….boss.” Star nodded.
“Just calm down.” Miso shook his head. “It’ll spawn in a minute. Ready your weapons.” He hefted a steel longsword.
Star raised a worn, twisted staff. And Vane had one of her own, though hers was more smooth and polished. Coff raised a bow and arrow.
“Ready?” Miso asked, as the ground suddenly shook violently. Everyone nodded, when the ground suddenly split, unveiling a large flower, with closed bright red petals. The petals slowly opened, revealing a beautiful bright green woman.
“Attack!” Miso shouted and lunged. Despite his heavy armor, he dodged a vine that swung from the base of the plant, and another bounced off his armor. He struck the base of the flower. “It’s not wor-“ Before he could finish, the woman raised her hand, and blasted Miso back with a burst of pollen.
No one else had moved. “Do something!” Miso shouted.
“He’s lost a lot of health, Heal him!” Star shouted, quickly readying a fire spell. Vane quickly cast a healing spell on Miso.
“Hold on, I’ll cast buffs!” Vane shouted.
Coff notched her bow. “Where’s it’s weak spot, if I shoot the flower, will it instantly kill it, or if I shoot the woman, will it kill the flower?” She decided on the woman, and fired, but a vine swatted the arrows out of the air.
Miso stood, and raised his blade. “Let’s all attack at once!” He nodded. “It’ll work!”
Vane nodded and finished her spell. “Activate!” She shouted, casting a boost to their damage, and agility.
Miso charged, just as Star activated her fire spell. The flowers petals burst into flames, withering away. He drew near as Coff fired two arrows. He raised his sword, and sliced the vines that came to intercept the arrows.
The arrows both hit the woman In the chest. She blanched, and Miso drew close enough to strike her. He raised his blade. “This is it!” And slashed for her head.
~~~
“Yaay!” Vane and coff cheered. “We leveled up!” The laughed.
“So did we.” Star smiled. “Don’t you want to see what’s in the chest?”
“What?” Vane said, appearing alongside the chest, with coff appearing a minute later.
Miso shook his head. “It’s nothing but gold. The game will auto-sort it for us.” He nodded as he turned to walk back to town. “We should go back and get supplies.”
Vane nodded. “Sounds like a plan to me.” She said, following behind him. When she looked back, Star and coff were following aswell, somewhat half-heartedly. However, when she spotted the chest, she saw the gold slowly disappearing, and felt a pouch appear on her belt.
Vane frowned skeptically when they returned to the tavern. “There’s something that’s bugging me. There’s someone missing…”
“Really?” Star asked. “Oh? Who? What?”
Vane glanced around the tavern, carefully examining each person. “Where’s Darth? Did you ever find him?”
Star shook her head. “He won’t tell me where he’s at.” She sighed. “I’m not worried about it. Let’s just leave him.”
Vane frowned. “Hold on a minute.” She had realized that one of the people she had seen earlier had seemed very familiar.
She approached the table and sat down. She reached up and snatched-
-A card out of the young brown-haired mans hands. A queen of hearts.
“O-oh…”He flushed, his bright blue eyes looking at her as he adjusted the collar of his black-gold outfit. “Are you here for my trick?” He held out the cards. “Will you put it back in, then shuffle the deck?”
Vane took it, and shuffled the deck quietly, while frowning at him. “I want you to know, That If you get this wrong, you’ll have to deal with my cat.”
He took the cards back and smiled hesitantly. He hefted a card, and kept it face down, where she couldn’t see. “I hope im right then. I’d hate to have to deal with bibble-“
“Hah!” Vane laughed and snatched the card. “You are Darth! Why didn’t you say anything?”
The card she held was indeed the Queen of hearts.

Part II
Vane frowned. “Why didn’t you tell us you were here all along?” she shook her head at him.
“Well, you all seemed to be doing alright, so I figured I’d let you all level up a bit and then just pop up sometime.” Darth admitted, adjusting the collar of his outfit.
Vane and coff looked at him. “What class are you?” They asked in unison.
“Hm?” Darth cocked an eyebrow. “I’m a Rogue/Mercenary.”
“Rogue/Mercenary!?” Miso asked, surprised. “The better question then is what level are you?”
Darth smiled sheepishly. “Twenty.”
“You’re level twenty already?” Star raged.
“Well… Yes.” Darth laughed. “tell you what. How about I make it up to you by taking you to a special dungeon?”
~~~Cave of the Fallen (Level 1-5 Recommended)~~~
Navigating the Cave of the fallen was not hard; The cave had thin, lava-like veins that ran in the direction that lead to the end of the dungeon. Aslong as the followed the reddish glow, they’d be fine.
It had been a long, quiet walk.
Suddenly, Darth stopped, looking over his shoulder. Vane wondered what he was looking at. Was there some kind of marker she wasn’t aware of? Miso shifted uncomfortably too. The lava-glow was reflecting off his armor, and while the rest of them at least were only moderately obvious, his armor made him a glowing target.
Darth suddenly motioned to a lesser path. There was nothing to light the way.
“This one.”He nodded. “Let’s go.”
“There’s no light.” Star scowled. “How are we going to see?” Darth struck a match, and lit a lantern.
“I bought one at the store.” Darth teased. “What’s your guys excuses?”
Vane and Coff exchanged looks and Miso blanched. “It looked like a useless item to me!” Miso said truthfully.
“Yeah.” Darth nodded. “The first time I came here, thought so too. But then someone showed me this.”
Suddenly, There was a loud ‘Oooph’. Suddenly, everyone had stopped. “What happened?” Vane whispered.
“Darth ran into a rock.” Miso snorted.
“It’s not a rock.” Darth shook his head. “It’s a door. Hold on a minute.” Darth carefully reached into a pouch. Vane had no idea where it had come from. Perhaps it was the same kind that mysteriously appeared or disappeared to hold their gold?
He pulled out a small device that looked like a knife, and a vial of neon blue liquid. “Alright, hold on.” He carefully poured the liquid onto the blade of the knife, and then waited patiently until the blade of the knife itself was a bright blue. Then he carefully slid it into the rock. The rock wall made a loud clunk, as if a lock had been opened, and suddenly sprang open so fast Darth had to leap out of the way.
“There ya go.” He nodded, satisfied. This will take us to a special room. “He nodded.
With that, he stepped into the black abyss of the door.
~~~Chamber of Penance Levels: ???-??? Recommended.)~~~ Vane was last to step through, but when she finally emerged from the darkness, she was surprised what she saw; it was another room with the same laval-like lights, albeit now they formed a circle on the floor.
More peculiar, was what floated lazily in circuits over the floor.
Three men and two women, each with impeccable blond hair, and dressed in flowing white robes. Enormous, billowing white wings held them aloft.
“Woah!” Vane gasped. “What are they?”
“They look like Angels!” Coff said amazed.
“I’ve never seen or heard of them before.” Miso said, rubbing his chin.
“Is this some kind of glitch?” Star asked, confused.
“Nope.”Darth shook his head and drew a long, black sword. “They’re a secret part of the dungeon. Only those who know how can access them.” He nodded. “We can each only take one. Aslong as you keep attacking it, You should be able to defeat it. They aren’t worth much gold, but they’re worth a lot of EXP. Don’t gang up on them. If you do, they’ll disappear.” Darth targeted the furthest angel and charged forward, and slashed at a medium height angel with short, shaggy blond hair. “Hmph!” The angel threw up its hands and drifted back a bit from the attack. It had only taken 50 damage. Darth’s expertise as a rogue showed. His attack speed was extremely fast. He chained three more slashes in about a minutes time.
Miso proved that Paladin’s have a different approach. His first stroke did around 50 damage, and albeit that his next swing was slower, if Darth had been attacking the angels at Miso’s level, He would’ve been dealing 5’s!
Star Targetted the nearest one and sent a scalding fire spell right at it, Dealing good damage herself, as coff fired arrow after continuous arrow into her angel.
Vane approached hers and cast a buff on herself, And swatted it harshly with her staff. With the buff active she dealt around 45 damage. Not bad. She continued this process until she started to get the feeling that something was horribly wrong.
Darth seemed to be enjoying himself, dealing good damage.
“Hey…Guys?” Vane asked.
“Just keep attacking them! If you need to heal go ahead, but if you attack continuously, they won’t be able to hit back!”
“Uhm… Darth?” Vane called again.
“I can’t help you team up on them!” Darth called. “You know that!”
“Darth!”
Darth finished his angel, and turned.
Vane was being held, a sword blade to her neck. A tall man with short blonde hair and a long black coat stood behind her. He had weapons telekinetically prepared to get rid of all of them, Coff, miso, and Star. And his gloved hand snaked up to stroke her cheek. “Such a shame.” The man whispered.
Then they all moved. Miso hit the ground first, and coff and star at the same time. Vane was given just long enough to shriek before she dropped aswell.
The man grinned. He stooped over Vane, peering down at her. “Remember this well… My name is Erebus, the level 15 Multi-weapon. Goodbye.”
And with that, The four others disappeared, leaving Darth alone with this black coated man.

Part III
Erebus turned slowly to look at Darth. “A little slow, aren’t you?” Erebus smirked. “Everyone noticed before you. Which is good. At level 15, I can only wield four weapons; you wouldn’t have just had the advantage of level; I also wouldn’t have been able to defend against you.”
Suddenly however, Darth had vanished from where he’d been standing. He appeared directly over Erebus’ head, swinging down hard. Erebus raised his own blade and clashed with Darth.
“Heh. I’m slow? You barely had time to react to that!“ Darth snickered-
-Just before a heavy axe came down directly when he’d been standing.
He continued back pedaling, shifting around a spear that came flying at him, and a sword that just barely missed him.
“Oh…”Darth muttered. “This could be bad…”
~~~Meanwhile, At ‘Bright Haven’ Tavern (Level’s 1-100)~~~
“I can’t believe him!” Vane fumed. “First he doesn’t tell us where he is, when he’s looking right at us, then he doesn’t even notice when some guy comes in and PK’s all of us!”
“Yeah! What a jerk!” Star frowned, crossing her arms.
Miso rubbed his head and looked around, while coff was busy buying more potions for the group.
“I lost a lot of the experience I had earned from fighting that Angel…” Miso admitted. “Yeah, Me too…” Star sighed. “We all did!”Vane seethed. “its ridiculous!”
“Hello.” Came a soft voice. A young girl with short silver hair stood looking at them. She was dressed in a long flowing blue dress. She smiled at them, then looked surprised. “Oh, Vane? It’s me! Misa!”
Vane blinked. “Misa? I didn’t know you were playing too!”
“Of course I am!” Misa laughed.
“You’re dressed very nice.” Miso complimented. “What class are you? Princess?” he teased.
Misa smirked at him. “No. I’m a level 16 Swordmage. So watch it.” She said, trying to sound intimidating.
Vane blanched. “Honestly, do they let you just make up your own class in this game?”
Coff stood stock still for a moment, then took on a pose as if she were reading something. “I’ve got the manual.” She said after a moment. “It looks like you can select any of the pre-defined classes, or use a special setup to create a class of your own…Why didn’t I do that?” “Yeah!” Vane sighed. “That would’ve been cool! I could’ve been a ninja!” “I didn’t even know you could do that!” Star wailed.
“Actually, There is no first tier paladin class…”Miso nodded, rubbing his head. “I thought you all knew…”
“You guys are just as silly on here as you are on Gaia!” Misa laughed. “So what are you all doing here? You look like you were just PK’ed.”
“Right!” Vane said, instantly back in her ‘righteous fury’ mode. “Darth was being stupid and let us get killed in the ‘Chamber of Penance’!”
“Yeah! ><” Star agreed, ready to join in aswell.
Coff looked from Star to Vane, and then at Misa.
“Well… What if I took you on a dungeon run? Have you defeated the ‘Gardening Nightmare’ quest?” Misa asked as the group approached the door.
“That’s the first quest I took them on.” Miso nodded.
“Oh, Good.” Misa nodded. “Then we’ll head to the cemetery to defeat the gravedigger.” She looked around. “Should we… wait for Darth?”
“Leave him.” Vane shook her head. “He’s probably busy killing things and not paying any attention to anyone else.”
Misa looked confusedly at each member of the group, but then shrugged and motioned. “Alright. This way.”
~~~Back in ‘The Chamber of Penance’ ~~~
Darth wheezed. He had to spin the avoid the axe’s head once again, and then brought his blade up in a swift parry of Erebus’ blade. He then quickly swung downward, leaving as shallow mark across Erebus’ chest, and leaving him just enough time to raise his blade and block when Erebus swung at him.
“You’re…very good…” Erebus gasped. “Even with my weapons harassing you, you’ve managed to take away three quarters of my health.” He wheezed and several of his weapons, the axe and the spear, dropped to the ground. “And I’ve only taken away half of yours.”
“Yeah well, a mercenary has got to be ready to take on some dirty jobs.” Darth grinned in between gasps. He was getting just as tired as Erebus was. “Even if it means taking on somebody with an advantage.”
“Hmph.” Erebus raised his sword slowly, deliberately, and his remaining telekinetic weapon, his second sword, drifted circles around him, making threatening motions towards Darth. “You think I’ll let you win? I killed you’re friends, and even with your higher level, even with your higher speed, I still have more weapons. I can attack at default speed, twice. I’ll take you down yet.”
Darth smirked. “Oh yeah? Well then prove it!” and lunged for Erebus once again.
~~~The Cemetery (Levels 5-10 Recommended)~~~
“Hyya!” Misa shouted, bringing her longsword down so that it cleaved through a skeleton. She turned, and drew a symbol in the air, and pointed at another skeleton, approaching Vane from behind. “Burn!”
The skeleton burst into flames and collapsed, just as Vane cast a buff over the group, and then promptly turned and bashed the skull off of a skeleton crawling out of a grave nearby.
“How many more do we have to kill!?” Star whined, swinging her staff wildly at a pair of oncoming skeletons. “I’m out of MP…”
Miso knocked both of them away with one swing of his sword. “I don’t think there’s too many more.” He nodded.
Coff was standing near the doorway, carefully firing arrows at the skeletons. “I’m only seeing one more!” She shouted, and fired. “And it’s gone now.”
“Good.” Misa nodded. “Vane, can you heal us?”
“Sure.” Vane nodded, casting a heal spell over the group.
“Okay.” Misa nodded. “Normally, I’d say we should all gang up on the Gravedigger, but I need him for a special quest.” She turned to smile at the group. “You’ll still get the EXP and rewards, and complete your quest of course. It just means I can complete mine too!” She winked. “So I’ll take care of him the minute he spawns.”
She had barely said this when suddenly; a figure wrapped in wrinkly, tattered clothes stumbled into the center of the cemetery. “How dare you!” It shrieked. “How dare you kill my minions!” It held a long, bone-white staff, and continued to stumble towards them. “I gave them shape! You have no right! I’ll destroy you!”
Vane took a step back, as did coff and Star. “Is that the gravedigger?”
“Yup.” Misa grinned. “Now watch. You can only do this once you’re level fifteen.” She held out a blank slip of paper. “Preparing seal. Sign-“ She drew a large symbol in the air, and then made a motion, as if throwing the symbol away. The symbol shifted, rotating slowly, and then drifted out, encircling the Gravedigger. “-The magician!”
The gravedigger emitted a horrendous shriek and then disappeared in a burst of white light.
When the light cleared, the symbol, and the gravedigger was gone.
Misa turned and held up the slip of paper. It was now a card, specifically a tarot card, with the image of the Magician emblazoned upon the front.
“Woah, That was pretty cool!” Star cheered.
“Well, it was efficient anyway.” Miso agreed. “And we leveled up. I’m now level seven, Star, coff and Vane are all now level six.”
“Oh look, chest!” coff cheered, running over and opening it. “Ooooh, Look!” She pulled out a long, silver bow. “Oooh, It must be a rare drop for archers! That’s too cool!”
Star stepped up and looked in, and pulled out a heavy book. “Huh.” She said said, brushing at the cover. “It’s a spellbook.”
“It probably teaches a powerful spell to help out mages early in the game.” Miso nodded, stepping up to the chest himself. He laughed and shook his head. “Nothing in it for me, sadly, just gold.” He nodded. “It probably doesn’t help that I’ve beaten this boss already…”
Vane stepped up and peered in herself. “Oooh~!” She laughed, and pulled out a large white bundle. “New clothes! Ha ha!” She hugged them tight to herself. “Finally! I don’t like the default Healer robes!”
Misa nodded. “Congrats!” She complimented. “Are you ready to leave?”
Everyone looked over. “Aren’t you going to check the chest?” Star asked.
“Oh? No, I got my prize right here!” Misa smiled, waving the Magician card. “If there’s anything in there, you’re all welcome to it.”
With that, the chest made a ‘clink’ noise, and suddenly, when Vane looked in ,there was one more thing inside. “Hmm.” She reached in, and pulled out a small dagger. On the end was a large, misty silver gem. “Anyone want this?” She asked, holding it up.
“I can’t equip Daggers.” Miso shook his head. “Only bows for me, remember?” “Star doesn’t like Daggers.”
“Oh…”Vane looked down at it. “I guess I’ll keep a hold on it then.” She nodded.
“Well, Good run, everybody.” Misa nodded. “Shall we go turn in your quest?”
~~~The Chamber of Penance~~~
The blade just barely cut across Darth’s cheek as he dove at Erebus. He could feel it sting.
But now Erebus was wide open. Darth drove his blade into Erebus’ chest. “Hah.” Darth grinned tiredly. “I told you I wouldn’t let you win.”
Erebus coughed, and struggled to reach for his blade. He had dropped it at his side. “Heh. You only beat me by twenty HP.” He snorted. “A few more moments, you would’ve been a goner…”
“Heh.” Darth smirked. “Whatever.” He withdrew his blade, and sheathed it. “You were always going to lose.” He looked around.
“Tch. Next time… Next time, you won’t be so lucky.” Erebus growled, before he too faded away, dropping four white feathers. The white feathers represented the EXP that was earned for killing the angels. The EXP that had been stolen from his friends.
“Heh.” Darth picked up the feathers.
*Vane!* He sent a whisper. *Where are you guys? I’ve got something for you!*
…
No response came. He hesitated. What was going on? Had they signed off?
*Hello?* he sent a whisper again. *Anyone there?...Hello?*
Darth turned to exit the Chamber of Penance.
Just great…what had he done now?

Part IV
Vane hesitated. “I don’t think I want to come out.” She whispered.
“C’mon.” Miso sighed. “We should do some more quests. Just come on out.”
Vane stepped out of the Dressing room. Her new outfit that she’d won from the gravedigger was far different then her default one. The top seemed to focus exclusively on covering certain aspects of her chest, and then not covering…
…
Well, everything else. She felt awkward, as around her collar and her navel were exposed. The skirt was normal enough, though relatively short with longer patches of material meant to deceive anyone who’d try and attack a healer by concealing her movements. It also had a cloak with a hood, though she didn’t bother to put the hood up.
Miso snickered. “Wow. Looks like that Armor will keep you relatively safe. “He teased. “Hey!” Vane frowned. “Yeah.” Coff laughed. “You might get a critical hit- from the breeze!” “Hey!” Vane scowled. “That’s not funny.” She said, looking away. “Especially because it actually does give a really good boost in defense…”
“Seriously!?” Miso asked, incredulously. “That isn’t effective armor… That’s not even armor!”
“Just drop it, okay!?” Vane asked, confused. “It’s stupid. Talking about this armor is stupid… let’s just… let’s just go.” She sighed.
“Yeah, That’s a good idea.” Star nodded. “Standing around here admiring Vane’s armor isn’t really doing much for us. Miso, go look for quests we can do.”
“Wha- But I wasn’t admire-“ “Go find quests, Miso!”
“Bah.” He shook his head. “Fine. I’ll be right back.”
Star looked at Vane carefully. “Have you heard from Darth?”
“No.” Vane answered immediately. “Not a word.”
“Hmm.” Star looked around. “If he’d been incapped, we’d have seen him. If he’s still alive, then he’d have sent a message. Hmmm.”
~~~Meanwhile~~~
Darth stumbled quietly, and then activated his ‘Vanish’ skill.
He couldn’t hold it long, but he would need it. This dungeon he’d been stranded in was not much of a challenge; the mosnters were all low-level, but they spawned in enormous hoardes that could easily overpower him.
*Vane?* He sent a whisper again, as he enared the exit. His vanish deactivated, and he had to duck behind a column to avoid three passing Hellhounds.
“Ugh. This is ridiculous.” Darth sighed and shook his head.
“Oh, look what we have here.”
Darth turned slowly. Erebus stood behind him, with five weapons now slowly rotating around him. His level now read as 17. Three other characters stood on either side of him.
“That’s impossible. You were fifteen when I fought you. And I killed you!”
Erebus raised the sword in his right hand. “I got better.”
“Ah… I see…”Darth hesitated. “Then I should run.”
And with that, he dashed from the dungeon.
~~~Back at the tavern.~~~
Miso returned after a few minutes. “There’s not many we can do at our current levels, without Misa’s help, and since she had something to do…”He sighed and shook his head.
Vane rubbed her head. “Well…That’s bad design. Shouldn’t there be lots of easy quests for low levels?”
“One would think…”Coff muttered.
“Well…”Star said after a moment . “We could see what there is to grind for EXP, but that doesn’t seem particularly entertaining.”
However, suddenly, Darth ran up to them. “Oh hey guys.” He siad, breathing heavily. “You should… You should run now.”
“What?” Coff asked. “Why?” “That’s why.” He pointed, and Erebus was approaching. Three other characters stood on either side of him. Two were male, wearing all black with the exception of Bandages covering his chest.He had short blue hair, and scowled darkly at them. He was wielding a large Axe. Another man stood just behind him, A man in heavy black armor, a heavy broadsword was strung across his back.
Finally, a young woman stood on Erebus’ other side, carrying a long Katana. She was dressed almost identically to Erebus.
“Oh.” Miso paled. “That’s not good.”
The man in black armor approached and swung his blade down at Miso. The man was a high enough level that even blocking, Miso skidded back a bit at the force.
The man with blue hair lunged, knocking Star one way with his giant axe, and coff another. “Hmph.”He snorted.
The girl moved with lightning speed towards Vane, and attacked. Vane managed to shift her staff into a blocking position, but the blow still hurt. “Ouch. This is ridiculous. We can’t do anything against them. They’re too high level.”
“Oh.” Darth said. “Oh right. I’ve got something for you guys-“ He was cut off when he had to duck and dodge away from Erebus’ weapons, as all of them attacked him at once. “Yeesh man, when do you give up!? Didn’t I stomp you once already?” Darth sighed. “Miso, Catch!” He grabbed one of the Feathers, and tossed it to Miso.
“Huh?” Miso asked, bashing the hilt of his sword into the black armored mans helmet. He caught the feather smoothly. “Do I just… use it-“ he asked, activating it. Instantly he was bathed in a white glow. “Woah! I’m level seventeen now!” He turned and slashed the Black Knight, and this time, the Knight began to backpedal.
“Coff?” Darth pivotted under one of Erebus’ swords and threw a feather to her.
“So this will make us ten levels higher? Cool!” She asked and activated, and got to a good firing distance, and then notched several arrows, firing them in rapid succession at the blue haired man.
“Yeah. Star?” he asked, and punched Erebus smoothly in the face, before backflipping to a safer position, and tossed her a feather.
“ugh.” She stood up slowly, and then activated the feather. “Hm. Guess I’ll try that new spell then. “ She said and raised her staff. Suddenly, a black sphere appeared around the Blue haired man, and he collapsed with a gasp.
“Vane? Are you alright?” Darth asked, before getting hit upside the face with the blunt edge of an axe. “Ooph.”
Vane did seem fine, albeit trying to get away from the woman, who was relentlessly attacking her.
“Now’s not the time for this, Vane, Catch!”
She still didn’t aknowledge him, but did shift, and grabbed the feather where it landed, barely two feet from her. However, The girl was still pressing the attack. “You’re hopeless against the power of Nyx and Erebus!” She sneered.
Vane blinked. “Oh really? Because no matter how powerful you are, I don’t think it will rescue from-“ She shifted her staff and bashed Nyx harshly across the face. “Unconsciousness.”
Miso slashed the Black Knight one more time, and he finally crumbled-
-however, suddenly one of Erebus’ weapons came flying at him, and knocked the blade from his hands, and knocked Miso to the ground.
Another scythe came flying from Erebus’ weapons and stabbed through Coff’s quiver, leaving her without anything to fire.
Two more promptly knkocked Vane and Star flat aswell.
And soon, Darth was looking pretty wounded aswell.
“Heh!” Erebus laughed. “Being a multi-weapon makes me infinitely powerful!” He laughed, and approached, prepared to finish each of them in due time.
“Well…” Darth said carefully, closest to Vane and Star. “What do we have plan-wise?”
“Nothing. “Star scowled. “We’re disarmed. What are we going to do? The Debuff for disarmed hasn’t worn off yet.”
Vane sighed. “All I’ve got is that stupid dagger.” She frowned and shook her head. “And I can’t even-“ and then she was holding it.
“Vane can equip daggers?” Miso balked. “ridiculous! Healers don’t use bladed weapons!”
Vane forced herself to her feet just as Erebus knocked Darth away. The knife sank in deep, and Erebus shrieked.
“What the-? What ridiculous damage!” Erebus scowled and turned swiftly, and attempting to knock Vane away, even though she had already backpedalled. He deftly blocked Darth’s attack, and swung, giving darth a shallow cut from lrom his left shoulder to his stomach.
Vane lunged again, hoping to get in a quick hit-
When Erebus grabbed Darth and pulled him infront of her; using him as a shield.
The blade moved to plunge into Darth; a killing blow.
Except instead, it glowwed a hazy green, and merely slid past the grombies skin.
Vane moved to retreat, but she didn’t need to worry. Suddenly, Darth had elbowed Erebus in the face.
“Ooph… What the-?” Erebus gasped, struggling to regain his balance, as both Darth and Vane closed in for the kill.
“The dagger…” Coff said slowly.
“Deals damage to enemies…” Miso continued.
“And uses that damage to heal allies?” Star said confused.
“It’s a Legendary Weapon!”
“It doesn’t matter!” Erebus yelled madly, his swords spinning about him in a deadly shield. “They’ll still lose all the same… I’ll never let them defeat me.”
Then the ground shook. Everyone stopped, even Erebus, to look around.
“What the hell was that!?” Erebus and Darth shouted at the same time.
“That doesn’t seem normal…” Star said nervously.
“No, That’s a very bad sign.” Came a new voice. A tall man in a suit walked past Darth and Vane, and held up his hand. “That’s quite enough from you.”
Every single one of Erebus’ weapons stopped moving. “Wh-…what!? What did you do!?” Erebus screamed.
“My power.” The Newcomer said, and motioned. Slowly, several dark, shadowy figures became visible, each holding one of Erebus’ weapons in place. “My name is Apoplexic.” He scowled. “But you are beneath my notice. My minions will deal with you.”
Four more shadowwy figures materialized on either sade of Erebus and began to grab at him, pulling him to the ground, even as the ones holding his weapons disappeared.
“Apop huh?” “Can I call you Lexi?”
Lexi shook his head slowly and motioned towards the tavern. “There’s no time, I’m afraid. We must discuss that earthquake.”
“The earthquake?” Miso said quietly. “Why? Wasn’t it just a random occurrence, nothing more?”
“No.” Lexi frowned. “It’s a sign. It’s a sign that he has awakened…”

“Darth, where have you been?” Star growled angrily. “Up and disappearing like that! You jerk!”
“Shut up!” Darth growled right back, the two butting heads. “You all died, and since I had to defeat that guy all on my lonesome, I had a bit of difficulty getting out of there!” “We wouldn’t have died if you had been running away.” “Well you’re level sixteen now. So act like it.”
“Oh yeah.” Coff nodded. “I almost forgot. We gained experience from those feathers from before…”
“Yes yes.” Lexi said impatiently. “Can we get moving?”
“Moving?” Miso looked confused. “Moving where?”
“Somewhere.” Lexi said bluntly. “Hurry.”
The all followed, somewhat begrudgingly, since with their newfound levels, they were actually rather close to getting to level twenty, which meant they could change classes and the like.
“So…” Darth said quietly as Lexi lead them to a lrge building somewhat resembling a warehouse. “What was that thing earlier? That caused the earthquake.”
Lexi stopped at the door and glanced carefully around, and then shut it. “Chernobog.”
“Chernobog?” Star glanced from person to person. “…Is that… is that supposed to mean something to me?”
“He’s a Slavic proxy for Satan.” Vane frowned. “What does that have to do with anything?”
“No.” Lexi shook his head. “Chernobog is a hellish beast; an error in the programming, and with his influence,…” He hesitated. “Well suffice to say, Chernobog’s influence might not end inside the game. And the game itself uses the internet…”
“Oh.” Star said quietly. “Lovely.”
“So…What does that have to do with us?” Miso asked. “Because that sounds like something the administrators should handle.”
Lexi shook his head. “They can’t. Chernobog is an evolution of the program.” He said. “And it can only be defeated by the parameters laid out by the program.”
“Then what are the parameters?” Vane asked. “Seems like the obvious question.”
“Let me guess!” Miso laughed. “Only one of us can defeat it. And its Darth’s story, so my bet’s on Vane.”
(Dude, What the hell, stop breaking the forth wall!)
“Hey!” Miso frowned. “Don’t interrupt! Besides, I’m just calling it like it is.”
(You think I’m that predictable? I’d never-)
Lexi frowned. “Would you like me to tell him, or would you?”
(Well technically, either way im going to tell him, since I’m the au-)
Vane rubbed her forehead. “Get back to writing. Let Lexi Finish.”
Everyone paused for a long, tense moment, and then Lexi nodded and continued. “You’re half right. Only one of you can finish off Chernobog. But you will need the help of others.”
“And it’s Vane right?” Miso grinned. “It’s so Vane. Is it Vane? Tell me its Vane!”
“Actually.” Lexi said after a moment, looking somewhat confused. “The only one who can finish off Chernobog… is you, Miso.”
“What?” Miso said blankly, not fully understanding the first time. “Me? Really? But I’m just a paladin. Besides, Vane’s the one with the Legendary weapon. I’m not exactly full of advantages at the moment.”
Lexi shook his head. “That’s not what the code says. It explicitly labels your username as the one that will defeat Chernobog: WyvernMiso.”
“Yaaay! Miso’s gunna save everybody!” Star cheered.
“I don’t think its going to be very easy, necessarily…” Coff mumbled.
“So…who are the others?” Miso asked after a moment.
Lexi hesitated and then said. “Err…well… it doesn’t really say. It only lists titles for them.”
“Really?” Vane asked. “That’s Odd. What titles are they, then?”
Lexi paused. “WyvernMiso will be helped by… The Mercenary, The Armored Beast, The Scales’ Shadow, The Mirage, and the Hellfire Mage.”
Coff was considering quietly. “Well, given her current class and skills, it’s pretty safe to say that Stars the Hellfire Mage.”
Star blinked. “Really? I like that title!”
Vane frowned at Darth. “And given his classes and stats, It’s relatively safe to say that He’s the Mercenary. But who’s the Armored Beast,The Mirage, and the Scale’s Shadow?”
“I don’t know…”Miso looked at each of them. “It doesn’t really fit any of us.”
Lexi shook his head. “I’m sure that in time, you’ll find out. It says that the lsit might be added too. That might mean it can be subtracted from.” He waved and some shadows leapt from the ground and assumed human shapes, pulling open the warehouse door for them. “For now, Go train.” Lexi said. “I’ll update you on any progress, and help when I can.” He nodded.
Miso noddedas they stepped outside. “So group, what shall we go do?”
Coff seemed to be considering her options, as did Star. Vane looked to be thinking aswell, up until Darth seemed to decide not to bother submitting his vote, and turned to look at her. She quickly turned away, frowning.
“…Okay. Well…this is getting us really far.”
“Perhaps we should just go do a quest. “Darth said dejectedly.
~~~ The Gorek’s Lair (Level 20 Reccommended)~~~ “So…What’s a Gorek?” Coff asked after a moment, as they crawled down into what appeared to be the remains of an old house. It was strange; it had either been buried, or built into the ground.
“Oh…You know.” Darth said as he traversed carefully down an old wooden staircase. “…Giant Spider.” “Did He just say Giant Spider?” “I heard Giant Spider.” “Giant Spider?” “A Gorek is a Giant Spider.” Darth confirmed. “Now shush. If we can get far enough in, we won’t alert Gorek’s Children.”
“Gorek’s Children.” Star Snickered. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say this was a direct ripoff of Harry Potter’s Aragog.”
(Hey, Screw you! I came up with this all on my own! I only realized it seemed a lot like Harry Potter ten minutes after the fact.)
“So how much further to the Gorek?” Miso asked quietly. “I don’t like stealthy.”
“Really? Well, not much further now…”Darth said quietly, ushering them forward. “Into that round room over there.”
“Yeah? And what do you mean ‘Really’?” Miso asked in whispered tones. “You’re a rogue! You’re specced for being Stealthy! I’m a paladin! Not only do I have like, one point in Stealth, I’m also wearing Heavy Armor!”
There was a massive thunk, as a large, long limb protruded from a dark hole in the wall of the round room. The hole itself was encircled by webbing.
Another leg emerged from the hole. Soon, the whole enormous spider crawled out, its head lolling to examine the intruders in its domain.
“Okay.”Miso frowned. “Gross.” “I agree.” Coff muttered, looking sick. “Ugh, Why did we pick this boss?” Star groaned.
“Eh, Seemed like it’d be good for you.” Darth smirked. “Okay. Vane, Can you buff me, Miso, and Coff? Coff, You shoot at the Gorek’s Eyes. Star, prepare a fire spell. Don’t use it until I say.”
Vane had ndoded and buffed them, and was looking around.
“So what are we going to do?” Miso asked after a moment.
“That’s easy.” Darth nodded. “We’re going to run up, target the nearest leg, and lop it off.”
“Oh. Sounds fun.”
“Yeah.” Darth motioned. “Vane should stay and heal, but if something happens, you can use the dagger.”
They all turned. “Ready? Go!”
Coff had launched three arrows before Darth and Miso had even made it halfway to the spider. The spider let out a bizarre screech and shook violently. It’s mandibles flew open and it fired some sort of globby substance right at Darth and Miso.
“Woah!” Miso gasped, as he and Darth split, heading for the different sides of the spider, completely avoiding the spit. “Yikes!”
Both reached the first leg and struck it. Immediately, the spider screeched again, and tried to flail, but couldn’t seem to hit darth or Miso before they’d moved again.
Darth cut off another leg, and started on his third as Miso cut off a second.
“Away!” Darth shouted, and suddenly leapt away from the spider.
“What?” Miso asked, and began to backpedal away.
Suddenly, with a final screech, the spider collapsed, falling to the ground. It’s remaining legs struggled to try and lift it up, and its head lolled as it struggled.
“Star!” Darth nodded. “Hit it now!”
Immediately, the Spider was engulfed in flames. A critical hit. Slowly, the spider burned away.
“One level?” Miso sighed. “Bummer. I was hoping to reach level twenty.”
“Any rewards?” Coff asked as she walked up.
“Just some gold, as far as I can tell.” Miso mumbled. “That was somewhat disappointing.”
“I thought we were training!” Darth groaned. “If we were looking for drops, I’d have picked a different boss!”
“Greetings.” Came a voice from behind them. A young man with Short black hair stood there, dressed in a longcoat with white gloves. “I’m here to talk to you, about Chernobog.”
Part VI
“Oh?” Said Miso, positioning himself infront of the spider, and off to the right of the group.
“Me? Why I’m the Mirage, of course.” He smirked. “One of the few who will help you defeat Chernobog. I came to help you. Train, of course.”The young man smiled sheepishly.
“Why would we need your help training?” Coff asked, confused.
“Why, because we’re going to kill the Nepti.” The young man smirked.
“A Nepti!?” Darth asked, stunned. “That creatures level 80! None of us here are higher than level 22!”
“You…You don’t get it, do you?” The man smirked. “I’m the Mirage.”
“Your point being…?” Vane asked incredulously. “That doesn’t really…change much of anything…”
He laughed and shook his head. “You really don’t get it. We -have- to defeat Chernobog! It’s a gimmick in the code! Aslong as Chernobog exists, we -will- defeat him! Which means, we cannot die! C’mon!”
The man laughed and lead them out of the dungeon, and to the second tier city, ‘Caritara (Level 20 +)’ He did not let them stop for supplies, but kept moving, heading straight for the mountain further ahead.
“This is stupid. “Darth whispered to Miso. “There’s no way that’s how it works.”
“Well…”Miso said, as they approached a monolithic construction at the base of the Mountain, with a glowing sigil adorned on it. “Let’s just…see if he’s right, and if he’s not, then we’ll deal.”
Darth shook his head, as the young man reached out and brushed the sigil. “You don’t understand. The Nepti is one of the most difficult monsters in the game.” Darth shook his head. “Because its so high leveled, and there’s a penalty for losing to it; Your character is deleted! No one’s even fought it yet! I mean granted, some high-level characters can do it too… but…”
In a flash of bright white light, they found themselves in a large, circular tower.
“Oh.” Coff said, having heard Darth. “That doesn’t sound good.”
“Not good at all.” Star said, trying to make herself small.
The Nepti entered from a gate on the far side of the room. It was enormous, towering to the point where its knee was somewhat higher than the Tip of Miso’s helmet. It had a large, elongated wolf-man type look, with a loping stride and long thin arms. In its right hand it clutched what appeared to be a crude club.
It peered down at them with dark eyes and opened its mouth; a gaping void with row upon row of misshapen teeth, and let out a deafening roar.
“Apop?” miso asked, sending a tell, though loud enough for the others to hear. “Can you run a check? See if this guys really ‘The Mirage’?”
Apop’s voice came back almost immediately. “It’s confirmed; He is ‘The Mirage’. Where are you guys? I can’t pick you up, anywhere…?”
“Oh…”Darth muttered. “Just…you know. In big trouble.”
Coff raised and strung her bow. “Well, I’m not going down without a fight.” She fried at the monsters face, though before the arrows could hit, the beast raised a hand to block the arrows.
Darth sighed, but lunged at the same time as Miso, both of them slashing at the beasts legs; the only problem was that their levels were too low; their weapons barely scraped the creatures skin.
Star raised her hands and pointed at the creature. “Dark void!” Star shouted. The black sphere from before appeared around the creatures chest, and slashes and cuts appeared to appear across its chest, but it seemed unfazed even by this. A few arrows lodged themselves in the wounds, but were otherwise ineffective.
Vane frowned. Just buffing was not going to help. She drew the dagger. “I hope this does some good…”She sighed, and lashed out, closing the distance and plunging the dagger into the Nepti’s knee.
The creature let out a shriek that caused the whole building to shake, and flailed, its club hitting the walls of the tower with enough force to send brick and mortar spiralling towards the ground.
“Hmph. Let’s go.” The Mirage smirked.
It was then that everyone realized that there was -four- of him. Each walked slowly towards the Nepti, which glared angrily at each in turn, and then raised its club, and slammed it on the nearest copy.
It faded away, and the three remaining ‘Mirages’ continued their slow approach, almost close enough to touch the Nepti. It shrieked and brought its club down again ,but this was just a copy as well, and faded shortly after being smashed.
Suddenly, the left-most of the two copies suddenly drew a long Katana and lunged, plunging the blade into the Nepti’s arm. “Hah!” He laughed, making careful slashes in its arm, causing it to swing its good arm back and forth, attempting to knock him away. The remaining Copy disappeared.
Even with this ‘advantage’, ‘The Mirage’ was still doing minimal damage.
“This is ridiculous…”Darth muttered, as everyone regrouped, watching ‘The Mirage’ ride the Nepti. “We’re not making any progress at all.”
“I told you guys!” The mirage shouted from the creatures shoulder, driving his blade into its neck. “We’re the one’s who are meant to kill Chernobog! We can’t di-“
He was cut off, when he was suddenly batted from the creatures shoulder. The creature made a mocking noise somewhat akin to a laugh, as ‘The Mirage’ hit the wall with enough force to make an impression of his sprawled form in the bricks. He fell to the ground, about six feet from the Nepti.
“Augh…” The Mirage said groggily, in critical health. “That didn’t go right…”
The Nepti was leering down at him, and raised its club.
“N-no, no no-!” The Mirage drowned the tower in yelps of ‘No!’ just before the Nepti’s club smashed him like a bug.
“Oooh!” Darth and Miso cringed in unison. “Yikes.” “I don’t think he was quite as immortal as he thought he was…” Vane mumbled.
“Guys? What Happened?” Apop’s voice came over the message system. “One of you disappeared from the list who is going to defeat Chernobog…’The Mirage’?”
“Yeah…”Darth said, watching the Nepti spot the group of them, huddled in the corner, and lifted its club. “I think we know why.”
“Well, Now we know that list can uh… remove us, if need be…” Coff said quietly. “ But we need a way out of this, so we aren’t removed!” Star yelped. The Nepti approached, hefting its club; The bulk of it was large enough that one swing could easily smash the group of them!
“This didn’t go how I had expected it to, guys-“ Miso admitted quietly. “I know what you mean.” Darth nodded. “Sayonara, guys.”
The Nepti made sure everyone was still in position, and brought its club down, putting some extra force behind it, making sure this impact made a nice Boom! with its smashed users!
“No!” Coff and Star screamed.
Except, the club never reached them.
“What?” Darth asked quietly.
The Nepti stood frozen above them, a look of dismay on its face. “I don’t get it…”Vane asked. “What happened?”
Then, a number of things happened at once; First, the wall behind the Nepti exploded, gushing in fire and wind from outside. Bricks slammed against the Nepti’s back and fell all across the tower.
Secondly, Long, thick cuts began to appear across the Nepti’s body. These buts seems to spread all the way around, until the Nepti promptly fell apart, its limbs falling away first, and then the body collapsing shortly after.
And thirdly, mere moments after the Nepti had collapsed, a figured appeared in the doorway.
A rugged man with short, messy dark hair. He was dressed in what appeared to be a cloth training outfit, with armor strapped on to sections; A pauldron on his left shoulder, gauntlets on his hand and greaves on his feet. He was carrying a longsword, with a wicked looking blade, and an extended handle, making it look like a cross between a short lance and a long sword. His eyes glowed an angry red, and even seemed to produce an aura that was burning the air in front of them.
His stats displayed ‘Zaine Level 100 Hellbringer.’
And he was giving off the impression that he was not on their side…
Part VII
“Wh…What are you doing here?” Miso asked. “I thought only a party could get into an instance…”
Zaine did not answer, and continued his approached, walking in a cold, calculating pace towards Miso. Miso started to backpedal away fro mthe man.
“Look,” Darth said, approaching Zaine from the right, clutching his swords “I don’t know what you want-“ Suddenly, one of the pointed tips of Zane’s Gauntlet was pointed at Darth’s face. “You.” Zaine said his voice was coarse, as if he had been out a long time, without water, and given his grimy appearance, it might well have been true. “Shut your mouth. I’ve got nothing to say to you.”
Darth stepped back, stunned. “Wh-what?”
Zaine pointed at Miso. “You.” He said darkly. “What’s your name?” He growled. “Now!”
“WyvernMiso!” Miso gulped, terrified. “Wh-why?”
Suddenly, Zaine’s expression twisted; He was still dead serious but seemed out of his right mind. “Don’t you… recognize me?” Zaine was approaching, and almost instantly, Zaine’s Left Gauntlet was reaching for Miso’s throat.
“Gaugh… ‘fraid not…” Miso gasped. “Could ya… lighten up… a bit?”
“Stop it!” Star screamed, lunging towards Zaine, and bringing her staff around to beat him across the back of the head.
Her staff never made it. He turned and backhanded her, hard, and she went flying, landing hard on the ground several feet away. “Get back.” Zaine spat. “You’re all nothing but meaningless trash to me.” He turned to look at Miso again. “You don’t recognize me. Why does everyone keep saying that? I haven’t changed…”
“Hey!” Darth shouted. “Watch it!” He raised his blades. “You’re out of control, man!”
“Shut your mouth!” Zaine yelled. “I am talking. So keep that insolent hole in your face shut.” Zaine said, still holding Miso up but turning and approaching Darth. “Or I will bury your head so far in the ground you’ll find the center of the earth before you can find one more think to yap about.”
Darth paled considerably, and took a step away from Zaine. “Now. What…happened to me, WyvernMiso?” Zaine said, turning his attention back to Miso.
“I…I haven’t a clue! I swear!” Miso gasped, struggling to breathe.
Zaine pulled him close. “Am I still in the code!?” Zaine howled at Miso, directly into his face. “The Hellbringer!? Am I still…in…the…code!?”
Darth sent a tell to Apop. “Apop…this guys nuts… do you have anything on him?”
Apop’s response came back mere minutes later. “Nothing. I can’t find anything on a ‘Zaine the Hellbringer’ Anywhere…”
“I’m…I’m not in the code.” Zaine yelled. He turned around confusedly, as if he had forgotten where he was. “I’m not in the code…I’m not in the code… Why am I not in the code?” He pulled Miso close again, and snarled directly into his face. “Who replaced me!?”
Suddenly however, Zaine realized that there had been other people in the room. He rounded on Vane and the crew. His gauntlet released Miso’s throat, who collapsed and gasped for air. “It was one of you, wasn’t it?” Zaine scowled, raising his blade, and twirling it in an intricate pattern. With a loud growl, he swung it horizontally, and a burst of fire energy leapt from the blade, arcing towards them.
“Get down!” Darth screamed, pulling Vane down with him, and grabbing Star and pulling her down. The blast hit the wall where they’d just been standing, and a massive hole was blown out of the wall, revealing the portal back to the mountain entrance. Darth motioned and pushed Vane towards it. “Quick, We have to move!”
“What about Miso!?” Star yelled. “He doesn’t seem too worried about him, anymore!” Coff shouted. The four of them touched the portal and were warped back.
Darth looked back, and then took off at a sprint, the others soon catching up. “It must have taken him a minute to realize what had happened…”
Coff shook her head. “Who cares!? We have to get as far away from that guys as possible!”
“Yeah!” Star agreed. “He didn’t look like he’d be particularly afraid of snapping our necks!”
“Keeping our distance is definitely the best idea.” Vane nodded. “But where can we go that he won’t find us?”
Darth suddenly broke away. “Look out!”
Zaine’s blade appeared between them before they had a chance to realize he was there. He swung one way, then the other, clearing the group out.
Vane tried to take a few steps away, when Darth rocketed past, blades at the ready. “Just keep going!” Darth shouted. “If we keep running, he’ll just keep chasing. Find somewhere safe!”
Darth rocketed towards Zaine so fast that he was hard to see. However, he came to an almost instantaneous stop right in front of him, and swung his blades into area’s that were weak points for human characters-
-With just his longsword alone, Zaine jammed the blade in a way that scewwed both of Darth’s blades away from his body.
“Hah!? You dare think you can even cut me?” He swung his sword in a parrying maneuver, which at their close proximity, practically disarmed Darth. Darth got ready, preparing to block an incoming sword stroke from that direction; which in this case, would easily cut him in half.
However, instead, a gauntleted fist came rocketing towards Darths face. With a devastating crunch, it sent Darth spiraling to the ground.
“Hah! Pathetic!” Zaine smirked. He walked over Darth’s body and smirked, reaching down and grabbing him by the collar of his black-and-gold clothes and lifted him up. “I think you’ll be the first one I get rid of, to return to the code.”
“I don’t get it.” Darth gasped. His face was caked in blood from where the gauntlet had hit him, head on. “What is it… you’re so…upset about?”
“Why do you all keep asking me that!?” Zaine growled. “I was supposed to help defeat Chernobog.” He snarled. “I was ‘The Hellbringer’!” He scowled at Darth’s form and raised a fist. “But I’m not on the list anymore, am I?” He smirked, cocking his arm back to finish Darth off. “I want my spot back.”
“Back off!” Vane swung directly for Zaine’s face, and Zaine actually released Darth and backed away from the Legendary Dagger.
“Ah…You almost had me there.” Zaine smirked. “But I won’t be denied! I am going to help defeat Chernobog!”
“That’s not your place anymore.” Miso said. He was approaching from where they had come, and looked angry himself.
“You.” Zaine scowled. “You’d dare defend them? These mockeries? My power was what was intended. I will suffice-“
“Even if you were meant to help defeat Chernobog.” Miso scowled. “You were removed from the list. It’s not for you to decide. You’re done.”
Zaine scowled. “Why you… So you’d choose to defend them, Would you? Well fine. You’ve all lost your minds. All of you. I am meant, to help on this mission, but if you will keep pretending you don’t know who I am… I will have to-“
However, before he could finish he stopped. He looked down at his gauntlets
“Wh…What’s going on?” coff and Star asked quietly. Vane shook her head.
“N-no…My stats… My armor…What is… I don’t understand…” Zaine looked around, as his armor and body began to glow a bright green, beginning to fade away. “You.” He scowled at Miso. “Not without you. Your friend will be gone soon enough.” Zaine hefted his longsword. “But I’ll take you with me as well!” He charged Miso with a ferocious growl, his longsword prepared to impale the paladin.
Except the tip faded away, just as it reached him.
“That’s…That’s impossible…”Zaine sighed, dropping what remained of his weapon, and dropping to his knees as he became transparent. “I don’t understand…everything I’ve done… everything I’ve worked for… “ He sighed and fell to the ground. “…all for…nothing..”
Everyone stared at where Zaine had been for a long time. After a moment, Zaine’s longsword, having faded before, suddenly became solid once again, and reformed its tip.
Miso approached, and grasped the weapon. “…I see…” the said after a moment, hefting it and twirling it deftly. “This is what I have to use, huh?”
Vane, Coff and Star looked intimidated.
“There isn’t going to be more, like him, could there?” Star asked. “One was bad enough!”
Miso turned. “There could be. “
Vane walked over to Darth, covering her mouth. “Oh…I’m not sure if I can heal this…”She whispered.
“Guys?” Apop’s voice said. “I’ve got some information: ‘Zaine the Hellbringer’. He was in the code up unti la few weeks ago… it seems the code has the ability to change and replace members… and it…replaced Zaine. It seems like it drove him insane.” He paused for a moment, to allow it to sink in, and then added. “I’m also reading critical on Darth.” He said quietly. “If you can bring him back here, I can see what I can do.”
~~~
After hauling darth to Apop’s command center, They all sat, uncomfortable and disturbed by what had happened.
“What determines whether people are changed or replaced?” Miso asked quietly. “We’ll obviously want to avoid that as best as we can.”
The others nodded, and looked at Apop.
“I figured you’d ask.” Apop nodded. “So I did some digging. From what I can gather… there’s a timer, for when everyone has to be ready. If they’re not…they…get replaced.”
“That guy wasn’t ready?!” Coff asked terrified. “Hope it’s a long timer; we’ll never be ready!”
Star blanched. “Yeah. That guy was level 100, and had all kinds of crazy powers. That wasn’t ‘ready’?”
Apop shook his head. “You’re looking at it all wrong. Sometimes, not even all the levels and the powers in the world are what constitutes ‘ready’.” He shook his head. “It’s what’s in your heart, and how well you guys have worked together, that it’s decided.”
He turned. “I’m going to work on fixing up Darth. I’ll let you know once I’ve made progress.”

Part VIII
Everyone took a three day break after Darth’s data was damaged. Apop, from his own reports, had not made much progress; being wounded by a weapon that was destined to fade had ruined darths data- it might well even be irreparable.
But at the beginning of the fourth day, Vane had decided she was going to get back on.
She found Star and Miso already there.
“I’m level twenty now!” Star cheered. “And low and behold, when I class-extended to Sage, guess what title I unlocked? Hellfire Mage!” She laughed.
“Oh? I see.” Vane smiled at the excited girl, nodding. “Congratulations.”
“I’ve been training with this.” Miso nodded, holding up Zaine’s weapon. “From what I can tell, it’s my key to defeating Chernobog. It’s a legendary weapon, like your dagger.”
“Like my dagger?” Vane asked, and drew the dagger she had received on that mission with Misa, and examined it. “Is it? What does that thing do?”
Miso paused. “Well, from what I gather, it’s called Deathstroke; It deals damage, and then has an almost 50% Chance to open a secondary cut after the first; The second cut can deal almost double the damage, and continues to drain a small amount of health over time.” He raised the weapon over his head, and then twirled it smoothly. “Thus far, I’ve made mincemeat of several enemies that were almost thirty levels higher than me.”
“Really?” Vane asked. “That’s very impressive! But you haven’t reached level twenty?”
“Er… well…yeah…” Miso rubbed his head. “That’s the thing; See, This particular weapon has a penalty for being so exceedingly powerful.”
“Oh.” Vane nodded, smiling. “That makes sense. What’s the penalty?”
“It reduces the Experience points I get by 66%.” Miso sighed. “I’m level nineteen though. Just a bit more, and I’ll be level twenty.”
“Oh? Well Coff’s going to get on here soon, so should we look for a powerful boss to take on? With your legendary weapon, my Dagger, and the spells Star has learned, we should be able to take on about anything.”
“That’s a good idea.” Miso nodded, waving to Coff as she logged in. “But what to take on... Surely we don’t want to try the Nepti again?”
“After what it did to that ‘Mirage’ guy!?” Coff gasped. “No way! No matter what we have, we should never risk that!”
“Yeah… I’m not sure if I like that idea either.” Star agreed.
“Is there anything closer to our level?” Vane said. “I mean, the Nepti was closer to level 100. Is there anything level sixty?”
“Well…” Miso considered for a moment. “Actually, I think there is. In one of the dungeons, there’s a monster called the ‘Triple-blade.’ It’s supposed to be level sixty, and gives a lot of experience.”
“Sounds good to me.” Coff nodded.
“’Triple-blade?” Star sighed, facepalming. “Sounds like ‘Tri-Edge’ to me…”
“What?” Vane asked, confused.
“Oh, nothing.” Star laughed. “Let’s go, shall we?”
~~~Lair of ‘Triple-Blade’; The Valley of Swords. (Level 60 Recommended.)~~~
“Well this place is…interesting.” Vane said, shying away from the blade of a sword that was about to stab her.
The foliage in the ‘Valley of Swords’ appeared to have had the leaves replaced with blades; The bushes all had a layered array of sharp points stretching from them. The tree’s were designed off palm trees, with those leaves being just as sharp, but perched high atop the tree.
“Only in a video game, would someone be this demented. “ Coff sighed. “Sword-plants. Please!”
Star laughed. “It does seem pretty lame.” Star looked around. “Granted, this place is huge. I wonder how many people just give up…“
Star was right; as far as they could see, it was just a wide open maze of trees and bushes; no visible landmark available that would denote a ‘BOSS HERE’ Type location.
“Well… this will be interesting.” Vane sighed. “We’re going to have to find the boss.”
Miso blinked. “Well they did mention that ‘Triple Blade’ might be a bit difficult to find.” He glanced around. “Let’s go….this way, shall we?” He motioned down a path behind them. “I get the feeling that forward is the way they’d expect us to go.”
“Well…”Vane sighed. “It’s a good a way to start as any.”
They trudged through the blade-plants for hours. This was definitely a dungeon; finding the boss was slow torture!
“Hey, look at that!” Coff said, pointing into a clearing. In the center of the clearing was a silver pedestal.
“Weird.” Star said as the group approached it. She eyed it skeptically. “It’s somewhat out of place…isn’t it?” she reached out, and just as she was about to touch it, the pedestal rippled, separating into individual pieces that became a small almost human shape, albeit covered in blades.
“Yikes!” Star said, and twirled her staff, and pointed it at the creature. Before it could react, It burst into fierce flames and melted into a pool of silver goo.
“Oh. That was pretty cool.” Coff complimented.
“Thanks!” Star nodded. “So we know the pedestals summon monsters. Do we need to find a certain pedestal?”
“Perhaps.” Vane nodded. “But somehow, I get the feeling the boss we’re looking for won’t be transforming out of a pedestal.”
And after about an hour more of searching and several more encounters with those creatures, it was starting to seem like they might never find Triple-blade.
“Wait.” Coff said, pointing a bit further down the path. “Was that there before?”
A huge, black swirling Vortex had appeared in the ground of that particular clearing.
“Now that, looks like the way to a boss.” Vane smirked.
The group approached, and immediately, the vortex began to draw them in, until they found themselves in a huge, white room.
“Is this room untextured?” Star asked, confused. “That doesn’t look good at all…”
“That is strange...” Miso admitted.
In a burst of black energy, a tall figure stood in front of them. He was taller than the average player-character, and held short swords in each hand. A stretched, twisted looking wing sprouted from his back.
“Triple-Blade?” Vane asked. “But-“
Suddenly, the wing like appendage grew a wicked curved balde and twisted around, suddenly appearing as more of a scythe than a wing.
“Yikes.” Coff mumbled. “That’s kinda creepy.”
He twisted the scythe-wing around himself and readied the short swords, swinging all three at the same time.
“Move!” Vane shrieked, diving away as his blades cut through the air where the group had been standing.
Miso twirled Zaine’s sword as he dodged around Triple-Blades strike. “He lunged, stabbing Triple edge in the back. The blade sank deep, but Triple-Blade merely turned, scowling at Miso, and his Scythe wing swung with murderous intent; Straight for Miso’s neck.
Miso ducked under the blade and ripped his weapon from Triple Blades back, just as an arrow struck The bosses shoulder.
It re-focused its attention on Coff.
“Oops…”Coff blanched, standing a few feet away, bow in hand, with Star just behind her. “Star? Can you hurry up on that spell?”
Star frowned as a spell circle appeared on the ground around her. “I’m trying.” She sighed.
“Well hurry, please!” Coff gasped, firing another arrow as Triple-Blade charged directly at them.
Vane frowned, trying to run up behind him. “Of course.” She sighed, struggling to keep up. “He had to have already targeted them…” She drew her dagger, and plunged it into Triple-Blades back. It only gave him a seconds pause. He was determined to slice Coff and Star to pieces.
“Now!” Star yelled. Coff dove out of the way, and the spell circle flew from beneath Star, and along the ground until it reached where Triple-Blade was charging-
-and burst into an enormous column of flames.
“Woah.” Coff gasped. “I think you got him.”
“Yeah that was…impressive…” Vane admitted as the column began to die down.
But the feral screech that roared from the dying flames stifled their banter; Triple-Blade, singed and burnt stumbled from the circle, still moving slowly towards Coff and Star.
“I got him…” Miso frowned twirling Zaine’s sword and slashed across Triple-Blades back. The cut dealt good damage, and then another, glowing cut opened along the original, and with one final gasp, Triple-Blade dropped to the ground.
The chest popped up right where he was laying.
“Gold.” Miso reported immediately. “Yippee.”
“I leveled up!” Vane and Coff said in unison. “I’m going to go class extend!”
It was Vane who returned first; her outfit hadn’t changed, and she was still using the dagger. “Guess who unlocked the title ‘The Scale’s Shadow!’ “She laughed.
“I see.” Miso nodded. “So Coff must have unlocked the title ‘The Armored Beast’, right?”
“Actually- “ Coff began, returning in a long coat, with two pistols holstered at her sides.
However, she was interrupted by Apop. “Hey.” He greeted over Tell messaging. “You all need to come back to HQ….You need to…See Darth…”
“Oh?” Vane asked. “Is he alright?”
“Just head this way.” Apop sighed, and then ceased messaging.
“Gee, that was helpful.” Miso teased sarcastically. “Guess we’d better go.”
They were working their way towards the Headquarters when Miso remembered what he meant to ask: “Oh yeah!” He laughed. “Coff, What title did you unlock?”
“Well I-“ Coff was once again interrupted; though this time, it was by an axe falling mere centimeters in front of her face.
“Where is he?” Erebus growled. The multi-weapon looked frustrated, and tired, albeit he was level twenty as well.
“Where’s who?” Miso asked. “Darth? He’s not here right now?”
Coff looked around nervously. Technically, they were right next to the HQ, Darth was very close…but they couldn’t let Erebus know that.
“Haven’t seen him in a while…” Star muttered.
“Me either.” Vane agreed, frowning at Erebus. “Are you that desperate to get your butt kicked again?”
Erebus scowled at her and raised his hand, a whole range of weapons rising up, prepared to fly at Vane. “Why you… I’ll teach you to mock me-“
He never got to finish his sentence. A metal-clawed hand grasped the back of his head, and a figure in black pants, with silver armor across his chest and a long black jacket twirled him around, and slammed him into the dirt.
“Greeeehhh…” The figure growled. It’s head was engulfed in a helmet; vaguely designed after a skull, a row of jagged teeth smirked across the front, and there were two slits in the shape of sinister, leering eyes. “I’m getting sick of you.” The voice that rattled from the helmet didn’t sound human; it sounded half human, half synthesized, and it rang of fury.
The figure grasped Erebus by the collar and pulled him to his feet, and released him, only to punch him hard enough to knock him back a few steps.
“Wha- How… how dare you!” Erebus screamed, and pointed at the figure. Ann array of weapons flew towards this violent brawler.
The figure dodged them as if they were toys. He deftly side stepped an axe, and then grabbed a spear before it could hit him. He twitched out of the way of a sword stroke, and finally, closed the distance by deftly stepping around a battle axe.
He was only five steps from Erebus. He raised his hands, and the metal claws seemed to extend. “I’m done with you.” The synthesized voice growled. Then he lunged, and defeated Erebus in two blows.
“Guys.” Apop said, stepping form the warehouse. “I wasn’t able to repair Darth’s data. This was the best I could do. May I introduce, Darth, The Armored Beast.”
Miso looked confusedly from Darth to Coff. “But I thought-“
“That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you.” Coff frowned. “The title I unlocked was ‘The Mercenary’!”
Shining Blade StarDust Café
Part IX
The ground suddenly shook wildly. Buildings began to crumble, and several users threw themselves to the ground.
“What’s going on!?” Vane yelled, drawing her dagger.
“It’s Time!” Apop shouted, pointing. Further away, the ground began to swell, growing bulbous, and then cracked. A huge black spire rose from the depths, and lava spurted from the gaping hole around the dark tower.
“That’s kind’ve intimidating.” Coff said, nervously.
“There’s no time. You need to get moving.” Apop shook his head.
“What!?” Star asked as the group started moving towards the spire. “What about you?”
“I’m not in the code. I’m afraid it’s not up to me.” Apop shook his head tiredly.
~~~
“So…What, do we just get to the top and fight Chernabog?” Miso asked, confused.
“Well…presumably.” Vane nodded. “But I doubt it’ll be that easy.”
“Definitely.” Star agreed.
Even Darth nodded his agreement.
“Well…There’s no way we’ll make it if we don’t hurry. Let’s go!” Miso shouted, charging into the Towers entrance.
The entrance was stunningly similar to the arena for fighting the Nepti, except with a spiral staircase leading into the darkness of the upper tower.
“Well, I know how we’re going up!” Star said, starting on the stairs.
“Hmph!” A figure leapt from nearby, three weapons, an axe, a sword, and a spear all crashing just infront of Star.
“Woah!” Coff yelped, surprised.
“We have to fight someone this early!?” Vane frowned, raising her dagger.
Darth Raised his hand, and motioned. “Go…I’ll…handle this…” He said, raising his sharp clawed hands menacingly. “But what if-“ Coff gasped.
Vane pushed her up the stairs.
“Got it. “Miso nodded. “Let’s move. See ya!” He said, leading the rest of the group up the stairs.
“You.” The figure said. He appeared to be half-cybernetic, and a multi-weapon.
“You’re… Erebus…” Darth growled, raising his claws. “I thought I… killed you…”
“Hmph. You only wish.” Erebus smirked, raising his hand. His weapons swirled around him and he lunged, swinging them down at Darth.
Darth twisted around the blades, and drove his claws into Erebus’ shoulder.
“Heh. Just as I thought.” Erebus swung his fist, and the sword immediately redirected, slicing across Darth’s collar.
The armor redirected much of the blow, but the leather underarmor split, and a trickle of blood dripped out.
“This… Will be interesting…”
~~~
The group quickly reached another large platform, further up the stairs, there stood a young man with messy black hair, in leather armor. His eyes glowed bright read, and the bow looked twisted and gnarled.
“This looks like my stop…” Coff muttered, rubbing her head. “I can handle this guy.”
Vane raised her eyebrows skeptically, and star looked at her. “Are you sure?”
“Yeah, I’ve got this!”
“Positive?”
“Yes!” Coff frowned. “Go!”
She waited until the group had started up the stairs, and drew her guns.
“Well, are you gunna move?” Coff smirked. “Or just lay down so I can shoot you?” She asked sweetly.
Then an arrow whizzed past her ear.
“That’s the only warning shot you’ll get.” He scowled.
“Fine.” Coff said, readying her guns. “That’s all I’ll need.”
She shifted her head to dodge The boys next shot and raised her guns, firing twice. He dodged once, and then leapt into the air to get away from the second. He flipped in the air, and fired three arrows swiftly.
Coff yelped and backpedalled and raised her guns. However, The boy had disappeared.
Three Arrows began to hit behind her; somehow, he had appeared and started shooting at her from behind!
Coff dove away, and turned, only to find him gone again. *How am I supposed to hit him…?* She nearly tripped trying to get away from another three.
*I’ll win this, for everyone…no matter what!* Coff frowned. An arrow hit to her left, then another-
-Coff raised her gun, and fired.
The bullet nicked the arrow, kknocking it away, and flew straight at the boy, striking him in the chest.
“Oh.” He gasped, before he landed, hitting the ground hard.
“Guys…”Coff said, looking towards the ceiling. “I hope everything going alright.”
~~~
“We’ve left two people behind already! Are we sure this is the best idea!?” Star shouted.
“I hope so.” Vane said as they reached another landing. “Because I think this one’s for you.”
A tall figure in a long black robe stood in the center of the platform.
Star frowned. “alright. If this is how its going to be….I’ll annihilate him.”
“Good luck, Star.” Miso said solemnly.
“Hurry up, Miso.” Star smiled. “You’ve got to save everyone.”
Star wasn’t going to give the man a chance, The minute Vane and Miso started up the stairs, Star twirled her staff. “Hell void!”
A large zone appeared around the man, but he merely waved his hand. “Negation sphere.”
The two spheres cancelled each other out, and he pointed at Star. “Dark Bolt.”
Lightning leapt from his finger, and shot straight towards Star.
Star had to dodge-roll out of the way. “Hellfire shot!” Star screamed, and fired the bright fireball at the man.
The man side-stepped the fireball. “Hmph.” He pointed again, and another lightning bolt leapt from his finger, straight at her.
“Hellfire shot!” Star shouted. The fireball and lightning collided, causing a massive explosion, the smoke billowing out to every wall.
Star leapt out, right next to the man. “Hell void!” she shouted. The spell activated, and a huge black sphere surrounded the man, and slowly began to shrink, until it had become a small bead of black energy. “Heh. That’ll do it.”
~~~
“So, are you sure you’ve got this?” Vane asked as they continued up the stairs.
“Well, I hope so, don’t you?” Miso smirked.
“I guess so.” Vane nodded. “This will be me, no doubt.”
A tall man in a black hooded suit stood in the middle of the platform.
“He doesn’t look so tough.” Vane said.
“I’ll leave him to you then.” Miso nodded.
“Good luck!” Vane called after him.
She looked at the man. “So what do you do? You look kinda…boring.”
“Oh?” The man said, speaking with a thick French accent. “How about this?” He flicked his wrist and a blade leapt from his sleeve. He flicked his other wrist, and a throwing blade leapt into his other hand.
He pivoted swiftly, and threw the blade at Vane.
Vane ducked under it-
And he appeared right next to her, stabbing at her stomach. She twisted her dagger, redirecting his blow.
“Woah!” Vane yelped. “Back off, buddy!” The man grunted and drew two more throwing blades, chucking them at her.
Vane twisted around one, and the other sliced her cheek.
“tch…”Vane frowned, touching her cheek. “That was uncalled for.” She ducked under another flying blade. “Would you stop that!”
“As you wish.” He frowned, closing the distance again, ad thrusting his wrist-blade for her neck-
-And Vane stabbed him in the chest.
“Those throwing blades were getting really old.” She frowned. “I figured you were going to attack soon.”
She withdrew her dagger.
“That means it’s all up to you, Miso…”
Part X Miso emerged at the very top of the spire.
“Woah.” He muttered. “But… There’s nothing up here!?”
And there wasn’t. It was a large, circular room, with a large archway in the center.
But no people. No monsters. Not even anything that looked like it would spawn a boss.
“Was this whole thing pointless?” Miso said, stepping into the room, twirling Zaine’s Sword.
Suddenly, the whole tower shook, a feral scream echoing throughout the tower. The archway burst to life, creating a portal, a thin veil with the appearance similar to Lava.
“Yikes.” He looked around, trying to find anything other than the portal. “Please tell me that’s not where I need to go?”
However, it was the only thing there.
“Fine.” Miso frowned. “Then let’s do this.”
And he stepped forward and reached for the portal-
The place he appeared in was a vast field of pure darkness. A huge volcano stood nearby, its open top glowing red from the lava inside.
Suddenly, a huge demonic figure pulled itself halfway from the Volcano. It looked like a man, albeit with enormous wings, and horns coming from its head.
“Great.” Miso sighed and shook his head. “I have to fight that.”
It raised its hands and reached for Miso, seeming to stretch out over him.
Miso had to sprint just to escape its grasp. He slashed at its wrist, and it withdrew its hand, but it didn’t seem harmed at all.
It frowned down at him, and growled, a low rumble that seemed to shake the whole area-
-then opened its mouth and spewed fire down at him.
“Woah!” Miso yelped rolling out of the path of the flames. “What the heck!” He scowled. “That isn’t fair at all!”
He pushed himself harder, running faster. This time, when it reached down for him, he dodged around its grasp ,and grabbed hold of its hand.
“Hah!” He smirked riding its hand closer to its head. He twirled his weapon as he approached, and drove it into Chernabogs Chest.
The creature growled, but seemed unfazed.
“What the…” Miso scowled. “You just aren’t going down easy, are you?”
He leapt up and continued upward, and readied Zaines sword, pointed it at Chernabogs head… and drove it through its chin. The creatre rumbled another growl, and seemed to barely take notice of him, reaching up and flicking him away.
Miso hit the ground hard. “What the-… How am I supposed to beat it? Nothings hurting it at all…”
He thought back. “Everybody.. I’m sorry…but there’s no way to hurt it…”
Then the realization dawned. “Wait…I know-“ He stood just as Chernabog was reaching down for him again. He leapt up and grabbed hold of its hand. “I’m not just beating you for myself!” he shouted. “I’m defeating you for Apop!” He shouted, cutting entirely through Chernabogs wrist, as, on the word ‘Apop’ Zaine’s Sword burst into black fire.
“And Misa!” Miso yelled, and Zaines sword suddenly shown bright white and he charged up Chernabogs arm, cutting all the way up.
“I have to win!” He shouted, his blade hand suddenly glowing red. He slashed across the front left side of Chernabogs neck. “For Vane!” He slashed the front right side of its neck. “And Coff!” He threw the Sword like a spear through the back-right side of Chernabog’s neck. “And Star!” He shouted, Zaine’s sword suddenly bursting into flame, with him swinging at the back-left side of Chernabogs neck.
Then he leapt off, Gracefully doing a flip through the air before landing at the foot of Chernabogs Volcano.
Chernabog screeched, grasping at its neck with its remaining good hand as white gouts of flame escaped from the wounds.
Chernabog began to glow, and with one final shriek, Miso was blinded by a white light.
~~~
When he opened his eyes, he was standing on the edge of the second platform of the Spire, looking at the sunrise. The spire had split in two, right at the middle.
Star, Vane and Coff all walked up behind him.
“You did it!” Star cheered. “Excellent work!”
“Good job.” Vane agreed, nodding.
“Yay, Miso saved everybody!” Coff cheered. “We did good!”
“You did do well.” Miso smiled, looking out at the sunset. “you defeated those people, and survived. That’s the best we could hope for.”
Vane, Coff, Star, and Miso all looked out towards the sunset.
“Thanks…My friends.”

~~~Epilogue~~~
“Heh.” A young man in a black coat sat in what appeared to be a castle chamber. A large crystal ball sat in the center, showing Star, Coff, Miso, and Vane all looking at the sunrise. “They look pretty content, don’t they?”
“They do.” Another young man said. He was dressed in mis-matched armor, looking rather haphazard the way it was placed on him. “They seem to think they’ve accomplished something important.”
The one in the coat shook his head. “What noobs.” He laughed. “Shall we go and show them otherwise?”
“No.” The armored one said. “That’s for them to learn. You know that she would not approve.”
“Oh yeah…”The one in the coat said, rubbing his head. “That’s true. Thanks, man.”
“Right.” The armored one said, looking at them one last time. “I hope they find out soon. Currently, they think they’ve done everything by defeating Chernabog.” He smirked and turned and began to walk away.
“But it’s just their first step, into a much larger world.”
~~~EPILOGUE: What about that one guy?~~~
The tower was crumbling. What had happened? Where was…. Where was everyone?
So much pain. He shifted, tried to look back. His right leg was pinned under a piece of rubble from the falling tower. His left, stuck to the ground by one of Erebus’ spears.
His left arm had been cut off by Erebus during their fight, and he reached futilely for the door with his right, covered by cuts and wounds as it was.
Even his helmet had been damage. He was bleeding everywhere.
“Help me!” He wanted to scream. “Someone! Anyone! Help me!” The words weren’t coming. “ Vane! Coff! Star! Miso! Anyone! Please… anyone…Help me!”
But his rebuilt data, the mask covering his face, could not render that much speak.
He couldn’t scream if he wanted to. No matter how intense the pain, no matter how much he wanted it to end, not a word escaped him.
He shifted a bit. The tower was still crumbling… wouldn’t anyone come save him?
But no one was coming, and in the last few moments, as an enormous chunk of the tower detatched and fell, crushing him, that was all he thought:
“Why is no one coming…to help me?”
