So, this is a call out to all the trumpets out here (:

I'm a flute/oboist and I'm dead-set on learning trumpet. I can play...but, I need some help. What would be good things to do?

I need to learn somewhat quickly. I want to play trumpet for my school's new jazz band. I'm not sure when it starts but I just need to get some help so I could get better quickly. I've been practicing a lot and everything...so.

So, dear trumpets, what are some things I can do???

Uh well, I've played both woodwind and trumpet and I have to say...woodwind is easier. You basically have one note for each key. Trumpet has 3 keys and 7 combination for the 44 notes that you can humanly play.

I suggest getting a private teacher that has played trumpet for at least 10 years.

All I can say is practice, practice, practice. Your lips need to get used to playing and ur fingers need to get used to the notes. Practice high as well as low and do rhythms. Lots of rhythms.
