Erie was musing, it was daylight but she couldn't sleep. Erisk was snuggled in her kennel, happy and deeply asleep. She wandered to the kitchens, fingering the stitching on the repair to her jerkin it had become something of a habit since that girl Elaiza had repaired it, the stitching was well done, but it was ridged enough for her to feel it. She wandered the weyrbowl, unable to pinpoint the reason for her current insomnia.

To be honest, Eliaza had forgotten her hurried stitching job on Erie's jerkin. She'd be ashamed to admit it, but it was simply the truth. Her mind had been consumed with duty to Halifanth. Despite the fact that the green was still little, there was a lot to be done to keep her happy. There was bathing and oiling and of course the daily trips to make sure she could get her feet in sand, and all of that had to come between lessons and other chores.
But now and then there were quieter moments, like now, when they'd woken early and Halifanth had insisted on going outside to see the sun. Eliaza stood beside her, leaning slightly on her shoulder, maybe even half dozing while Halifanth rambled on.
The sun is not so warm when it first comes up, Mine, did you notice? But then the higher it goes, the warmer it gets. It is like a great, warm golden dragon. I would like to go so high, to see her. She must be very very big, and very very happy. Happiness makes us warm, doesn't it, Mine?

Erie was so tired and distracted she hadn't noticed the Rider with her dragon, she looked up at the ever warming sun as she walked, and came into contact with another human body. "Shard it watch where you're......oh Sorry Dragonrider, i...i didn't see you there" she quickly covered. She smoothed down her jacket, not meeting many riders face to face because of her profession.

We can't go high just yet, Halifanth, but we will soon, and then you'll see, it's not a dragon at all. She smiled warmly, though. She sort of liked the notion of the sun being a big, warm dragon. She hummed a little and nestled against the green's shoulder again.
At least until Erie bumped into them both, startling a bleat of noise out of Halifanth and a matching squeak out of Eliaza herself. She blushed, cheeks going dusky, as she opened her eyes and managed a smile for Erie's sake. "No, no, it's all right. We're probably ...standing in the way of something." She looked around but couldn't tell for sure. "Are we?'

Erie felt her cheeks flush with embarrassment that she'd just blundered right into a dragonrider, but it seemed that this was not that long out of the shell, the green was so small. "no no Dragonrider it was my fault" she said with a slight bow, both to hide her face and to show respect "you and Yours are entitled to stand anywhere you want" she said while thinking "sharding dragonriders, think they can stand where they like, in the way of decent peole expected to move around them".
She looked up "I apologise if i scared your green" she added, genuine in this comment, she almost liked the lowest ranking dragons, they were green after all, just like her Erisk. "Do ...do i know you?" she asked scrunching her tired eyes up a little and looking properly at the girl.

Eliaza laughed quietly as she straightened up, shaking her head. Halifanth had gotten up and turned so she could look at Erie properly and watch her, head tilted a bit to one side. "Don't be silly," Eliaza said. "Nobody should be blocking doorways or standing in the busiest spots just taking up space. I just stopped when Halifanth did and didn't think to really look around and be sure it was clear. Besides, no one's hurt so there's no blame to put on anyone."
It wasn't the same sort of squinting that Eliaza did. More like a thoughtful narrowing of her eyes as she considered Erie. "I don't know... it's possible?" More thinking and then she had it suddenly and her eyes popped wide again. "Your tunic. I think it was yours, at least. A ...something had torn your tunic, right?"

Erie tried to stifle a huge yawn, her hand flying up to cover her mouth. "sure, alright" she replied a little shortly, so far she was lucky that, in her tired state, her thought didn't tumble out of her mouth. "uppity little wretch, all mightier than thou" she thought to herself, keeping her face emotionless was a fairly easy task for Erie, no matter how tired.
Eire frowned, slightly, and so swift you'd have been hard pressed to tell if she really had.. or if you had been seeing things. She fingered the repair on her tunic almost instinctively, "Yes . you.. you were down in the rooms, keeping out of the way... Eliaza wasn't it? ... so you're moving up in the world" she said, annoyance very slighlty edging her tone, but she fought to keep it out.
