There was a sad smile as Blade asked about her future. "Honestly... I never thought I'd have one." She sighed, fingers tracing the counter. "I thought I'd be dead by now. Or possibly something worse." There were worse things than death, after all. Not many people realized it, but at least with death your body rested.

As her order was brought out, she grabbed it without hesitation and sat at a booth. Ah, grease food. No matter how many delicious steaks she had, this was still something she loved.

Blade raised an eyebrow at Riyo as she mentioned she thought she'd be dead at this point. He had to wonder what she went through exactly... Quickly making his order, he waited for his food to arrive before snagging it so he could catch up with her again.

"Why would you think you'd be dead by now?" he asked quietly before quickly adding, "You.. don't have to answer that if you don't want to. It's just not something a lot of people feel at our age."

"That's-" None of your goddamn business, is what she was about to say. Though she quickly changed the tone of her statement when Blade added to his question.

"I can't tell you that. Or anybody, for that matter." She wouldn't even tell Klyde that. Or Mitsu. And they had seen the scars... "I'm sure there are things you don't want to talk about to anyone as well."

Nodding silently as she held back the answer, Blade couldn't really blame her he supposed. It wasn't as if he was really expecting the answer anyway.

"Plenty of things.." he replied as he took his burger to take a bite out of it. Generally speaking he didn't like to open up much about anything. Shaking his head, he tried to think of something to switch up the gears here. For the time being he was drawing a blank.

"Looks like there's another common factor in our lives." Riyo said simply as she unwrapped her burger and took a big bite of it. Mmmm, onions. "People don't realize how hard it is to be open after you've been shut off from the world for so long." She mumbled after she finished chewing, promptly taking another bite.

"Even doing something like this with a vague acquaintance is a small leap of faith, I guess... I've been trying to get better at those kinds of things..." Thanks to Klyde. She never would've even tried something like this if it weren't for him.

"No kidding," Blade replied quietly while eating his burger and adding under his breath, "Not to mention you can't lose something you don't have." Riyo may have said she was trying to get better about it but the thief hadn't really tried to reach out to anyone. Him being alone was more of his fault than anyone else's. At least lately it was.

"But.. this is kinda nice I have to admit," he said with a faint smile.

Taking a drink of soda, Riyo managed to smile too. "Yeah, it is."

Too bad it would be short-lived. The sound of a very disturbing ringtone, a rather warped song, started rather abruptly. Riyo immediately sat her drink down, eyes wide enough that her eyes might threaten to fall out. There was fear on her face. Pure fear.

Reaching into her pocket, she shakily flipped her cellphone open and held it up to her ear. "H... Hello Mother." She tried to clear her voice as she spoke. From the way she looked, one would think she was talking to the devil himself.

She never called unless she was drunk or pissed off... Either way, Riyo ended up getting it.

"Hello daughter." The voice on the end of the phone cooed. "One of my business partners said they saw you at a nice restaurant a couple of nights ago... With a handsome young man. I told him that was impossible since no b*****d in their right mind would take you, but he could've sworn by it. Tell me, what are you up to over there?"

Continuing to eat, Blade paused as a strange ringtone started up all of the sudden. Looking up at Riyo, he saw that look of fear on her face. What in the world? Tilting his head as he couldn't think of what was scaring her exactly, his eyes widened as she greeted the caller. Her mother?

Now between the small hints before regarding her childhood and this, the thief really had to wonder what sort of monster her mother was like. Silently he watched and slowly ate, hearing bits and pieces of what the woman on the other end was saying.

'No b*****d in their right mind would take you' he heard and immediately narrowed his eyes. He didn't pick up on the very start but he could only assume it had something to do with Klyde. If not, then the woman was quite a b***h to just randomly call to say that.

Apparently, Riyo had forgotten Blade was even there. Her eyes stared off into space as she tried to compose an answer. "I.. He was... Ah..."

"He said you were wearing a dress." The woman's voice rose in volume, cutting Riyo off from any excuse she might've had. "I figured he'd gotten the wrong girl since you're obviously into that cross-dressing thing, but from your reaction I'd gauge he's right on the money."

There was a pause on the phone, and Riyo didn't try to speak up. She'd been found out. and now she was cornered like a caged rabbit. "Must be really special to get you comfortable enough to wear something like that. So did you ******** him?"

Riyo visibly flinched at the question, but said nothing. "You did, didn't you? Tsk, tsk. We're gonna have a nice, LONG talk when you get home about how DISAPPOINTED I am."

That was what Riyo was afraid of. Her eyes became very sad at the thought. She wouldn't forget, either. Even this early in the year, she'd still remember what had happened as soon as they got home..

"Looks like lunch break is over, I suppose I should go... Oh, and Riyo..."

Riyo hesitated before asking "Y-yes?"

"This is your last chance. One more ******** up and you know what's going to happen."

With that, there was a soft 'click' signaling the end of the call. Riyo lowered the phone and sat it on the table, her head immediately looking down. "I should go..."

As the conversation went on, Blade had pretty much stopped eating as he sat in silence. He was able to pick up a little more here and there, and the reactions Riyo was having to what was being said didn't make things much better to witness.

A part of him felt a little.. strange or possibly disturbed at the thought of Riyo and Klyde going at it when it was brought up. Quite frankly he shouldn't be too surprised but still. It may have had something to do with how it was phrased. Casting his gaze away, he didn't look back until the phone call seemed to be over. He didn't really know what to say. What could he say? The thief was just an acquaintance really.

"Right... but.. she's wrong you know," he said quietly, almost inaudible, "Before you go, I just want to say.. be careful. I... kinda have a bad feeling about something in the coming week. I don't know what it'll be but.. I can't shake it..."

It probably wasn't the best timing for a warning, but it was now or never really since he didn't know when the next time he could talk to her without Klyde hovering nearby. It was unfortunate that he couldn't get more into it but maybe it could at least make her a little wary of what could happen.

Riyo quietly stood up, taking her trash and bag with her, pausing as blade spoke.

"Whatever it is, it couldn't be as bad as going home." She said simply and started the long walk back, eyes never leaving the ground as she went. She'd had bad feelings too. Something in the air, she supposed... But Riyo had the feeling that something was coming too... And it was something big....

Riyo's words echoed through his head. Her home life sounded pretty horrible, just from what little he had heard. Watching as she sulked away, Blade soon shifted his gaze down to his half eaten food. He was worried about her, and yet there wasn't really anything he could do. With a sigh, he made a note to get back to working on deciphering the message when he got back to his room. Maybe.. just maybe he could still prevent what was to come before it was too late.
