Dark paws crossed with a slush against the cool mud of the beach, while the leopardess was careful to keep her tail clean in the air. Even with the heat of midday on her fur, Milani'la could only take so much cold water. Thus she was doing her best to enjoy the shallow waves on the beach, before she'd have to leave into the forest. Glancing over to her right, the female looked into the darker waters that hazed out into the distance. The sun made the glassy surface blaze, almost like a calm fire, frozen in time. But that thought only made Milani'la scowl and turn away from the body of water. Sometimes, she just needed time away from the salty scene.

Stepping up the slope of the beach, she wandered into the treeline with a shadowy grace to her destination.

Well, here he was! Doing grown up things, being considred one of the members of the pride! Not much had really changed in himself, or so he felt. He'd endured his testing in the sea two months ago, proving himself capable in the eyes of the pride. His pride. He'd discovered for himself why it might be called a pride, for he found himself proud to be part of it, to be a working member. Of course the most noticable change in life was that he now had responsibilities. In his chosen rank, he patrolled the borders, welcoming newcomers to their lands, and possibly fending off intruders that had no intention of settling quietly or passing through casually.

Despite this most obvious change, Ur had not felt he had really changed much inside, where noone could see. He still tended to feel small and young. he supposed he felt afraid much less often, but that seemed to be replaced with worry instead. He was dwelling on this while he patrolled his designated area of the border. It wasn't merely the actual border, but just inside it as well. He tended to wander, not following any direct and straight path. It kept him alert, and made it less likely someone would know when he'd happen by.

This growing up stuff wasn't as momentous as he'd always expected. Somehow he'd thought it would be a moving, significant moment, or perhaps several days of amazing realization about the mysteries of life, or something similarly notable and easily marked. It seemed it was no such thing. he hadn't talked to his mother about it, as he didn't want to alarm her. Maybe he wasn't actually growing up? What if that were the horrible truth?

He shuddered his entire hide, nose to tailtip, sending his swiftly growing mane tufts into ripples like the surface of the ocean. The movement of his head as he shook it caused him to catch sight of movement out of the corner of his eye. Setting aside his own concerns and raising his head the better to see, he immediately set off towards the tiny indication of movement in the distance, between the large trunked trees and their hanging vines. He detoured around one massive fern, but thrust between two large but lightly leafed bushes. His movements were purposeful, but intentionally non-threatening. It hadn't been so long ago that he himself had arrived, seeking shelter and belonging. He'd not chase off any such needy souls in a useless show of bravado.

With her paws settling across the moist soil and the smell of salt in her nostrils, Milanil'la was proving to be a horrible guard with how distracted her senses were. But thankfully, her rank was that of a healer, and thus she almost had the right to be so easily overwhelmed by the elements around her. Almost. Except for those feline survival skills that made her ears instinctively flicker to each little sound, or cause her nose to twitch on every new scent she crossed.

Truly in a world of big dangers, it was always the little things that mattered.

And here, as the leopardess was lopping down a smooth slope, did the female suspect a little thing to be following her. Or at least settling nearby her, as a new husk drifted through the heady smell of plants. Her light eyes casually scanned the area, but all seemed at peace in the cool shade of the trees. Some birds with vibrant plumage could be seen above, chirping and cooing in delight. If they had nothing to fear, then why should she?

Dismissing the presence of whoever may be out there, the leopardess thus began sniffing and pawing certain locations on the ground. After all, it was no clean task to dig around for herbal roots!

Ur had spent no time amongst the healers, so when he came close enough to see the other feline pawing about in the dirt, he made a logical assumption. His eyes widened, and he immediately averted his gaze. Happening upon someone cleaning up their mess was by no means taboo, but it was of a personal enough nature that it embarassed the young male. Only problem was, the pawing continued beyond the quick covering of unmentionables.

He cleared his throat, eyes anywhere but at the leopardess. "Ah, pardon me, I didn't realize someone else was out here," he spoke lamely but with a raised voice, so as to call attention to himself. It seemed a stupid thing to say, but he hadn't had time to think of something equally welcoming and accepting. He by no means knew every feline in the pride, so he had no idea if this female was of the pride already or not. He made a mental note to get to know more of the pride's members so that he would know a stranger from a fellow Bahari member.
