Samantha merely allowed herself a self-satisfied grin, then turned back to the matter at hand. There wasn't anything in the immediate area to hunt, her senses told her that much already. But beyond the immediate area, well...breakfast awaited somewhere.
Despite her swift pace, her paws made no noise on the earth; experience had taught her how to move silently, with neither her paws nor her long tail betraying her position. She inhaled deeply, sorting through the various scents on the wind. Shifting directions subtly, she headed just a bit more north. She let her tongue extend to the ground in order to pinpoint the prey's location and adjusted her path accordingly. After a bit longer, her pace slowed, turning more into a stalking movement, then she stopped, waiting for the pup to catch up to her.
Without a word, she nodded towards an open clearing. A number of rabbits, a family or small warren perhaps, were scattered about the grass, nibbling away. Tasty, but fast breakfast. This would be a sure test of the pup's skills.

 His nose soon caught the scents of the rabbits. "Fuzzys" he murmured softly and then became silence as he crept towards the clearing with the rabbits his small body disappearing in the brush. Moving himself down wind so to speak the pup continued moving closer to the rabbits and then Pounce. He made his attack, with in a quick moment he had made his kill, his teeth sinking into the back of the neck of a baby rabbit, causing the rest of the rabbits to scatter.

As the rabbits scattered, Samantha leapt from cover, quickly snatching up one of the larger adult females to claim as her own breakfast. The rabbit barely had time to squeal before it was little more than meat hanging from the Krokotas' jaws. The rest of the 'fuzzies' escaped to safety, and the hunters had their breakfast.
Padding over towards the pup, she was pleased to note that he'd made a kill. A baby, yes, but rabbits took speed and skill to catch, even the little ones, so the pup had potential. She felt a bit better about him roaming about on his own now; at least he seemed to be able to take care of himself somewhat. He just had to move up to bigger, more filling game as he improved.
"Good job, kid!" She had to set her own rabbit down to speak, but smiled at the pup afterward. "Now, let's eat." She flopped down on the ground, pulling her meal towards her to start eating.

"Hunter See," he replied beaming proudly, as the fuzzy still hung in his mouth. "See Fuzzies good." Placing it on the ground he placed a paw on it and began to eat.

Fuzzies, eh?
Samantha grinned, swallowing a bit of meat before answering. "I do see. Fuzzies are quite good. Very tasty." Her tail swished lightly over the ground behind her; she was quite pleased, both with their immediate hunting success and the potential implied for the young pup. Perhaps he'd do alright on his own afterall.
Of course, he'd probably done so for some time, but obviously, that didn't enter Samantha's head. For her, it was a case of, now that she'd found him, he was her responsibility, and she had to make sure that he was taken care of.
Instead, in the early morning light, the two Krokotas enjoyed their breakfast, seemingly at ease.

The pup finished up his rabbit, leaving only the skin and bones left. After he cleaned himself the pup laid down and started to gnaw on a leg bone.

Well, kid...maybe you'll be alright...
Samantha's gaze lingered on the pup after she finished both eating and grooming, thoughts preoccupied with concerns for the youngster. It wasn't as if he'd let her take care of him, that was for sure. He was far too stubbornly independent for that. And she wasn't really sure where she was headed anyhow.
Still, this seemed like a nice enough area to live, plenty to hunt and whatnot. The kid should fare well, and maybe she'd see him around from time to time. Check up on him and all that. Yeah, that worked.
"So, kid," she spoke at last. "I guess you got plans of your own, eh?" Whether she was answered or not, Samantha really didn't seem to care. She was at ease and if she ended up talking only to herself, so be it.

"Go foreword," He stated his only plan, saying that he would continue going forward no matter where it brought him in the future. Where ever his next meal took him, that was where he would end up. Picking himself up keeping the bone in his mouth the pup stretched before settling himself back down upon the ground of the forest. He had eaten and now it was time to sleep.
