No, I didn't download it. I'm just saying I've seen torrents on the interwebs for leaked versions of the game. This is more for a warning than anything: Be careful and watchful for spoilers for the time being. If you care that is.

I'd rather buy a fable 3 game,
then get a leaked version any-day!

Same. I'm just trying to warn against the event of possible spoilers.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 24, 2010 6:41 pm

I only watched a bit of one a few days ago. Didn't find out much. I only saw them entering the Morningwood fort and fighting a bunch of hollow men, and found out that (not really a spoiler, but highlight anyway) Ben Finn is a Captain and wishes for a pay raise, Lieutenant Simmons died the night before and was ordered to remain dead (which I thought was hilarious).

Now, I am restraining myself and avoiding the leaks.

Unless it's from a Dev Diary or Xplay, or a trailer, or a demo vid from E3, TGS, PAX, or something like that I'm trying my best to avoid it all. Knowing the story is what ruined Fable II for me the first time I tried playing.

also, has anyone had a hard time loading up Fable II as of late? I tried loading it up today to mess around with my appearance, and it keeps freezing after the Lionhead logo thing....

More often than not, when a game is leaked via torrents and such (how did you managed to find that out anyways?) prior to its release, it's either nothing but viruses or a poorly put-together copy. You'll have to wait a while before you can get a halfway decent one.

I dunno, not me personally, but I've known some generally tech savvy internet pirates, and generally from what I've seen there are some good sources for leaked games. And especially since a lot of retailers already have the game in the stock room or something, it's not hard hard for an employee to lift one before it's been tagged. And if it's not from one of the retailers then it would be the warehouse where the distributors store them once they get them from the producers. One guy dedicated to "Net Neutrality" and internet piracy could easily get one to someone who could rip it and post it. Then people download it, and use their Modded 360's that aren't hooked up to live to play it a few days before everyone else, and post spoilers that ruin it for everyone else.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Most of the time, it'll just land you a nasty bug.

I actually don't mind too much whether or not it's leaked. I for one do not intend on getting this game when it gets out--see, I'm waiting to hear what the rest of you have to say about it before I go get it so that way I don't blow $60 on what might be disappointing. So in a way, you guys are my guinea pigs. sweatdrop

Yes and they take advantage of that fact to implement viruses, trojans, etc. into the torrent. After all, they don't benefit from stealing a game and releasing it prior to it's appointed release date. They benefit from making your life as miserable as possible or stealing information.

In a way, I'm kind of like you. I don't like going out and blowing any amount of money on anything without knowing exactly what I'm getting into. However, if you had been keeping up with all the news and information on the game, you would know just how amazing this game will be. But hey, it's your loss!

For the reccord: I didn't download it. I don't download games unless it's from Steam. But I just wanted to take a moment out of my day, and be nice and give fair warning to y'all about the possibility of spoilers for the story being in places. For those of us that actually care about spoilers.

I don't think there's such a thing as knowing how good a game will be so much as there's thinking how good a game will be by what everyone/everything says/writes about it. Take Star Ocean: Till the End of Time for PS2, for instance. Online friends recommended it, overall reviews were positive across the board. Sounded good to me, so I got it when I first got a PS2. Boy, was that a mistake! One of the worst games I ever played, if not THE worst.

I realize I'm essentially doing the same thing with Fable 3--relying on people here plus official reviews (primarily Game Informer because I got that magazine with the Gamestop card). But just because you hear "Hey, this game's pretty good" doesn't mean you'll like it. Only way to know for sure is to actually play it, and see if it's your cup of tea. So I wait until the price comes down--if I don't like it, at least I only lost, say, $30 instead of $60.

yarr!
me no likey that there be pirates out there already with it.
but as mentioned above, games that come as torrents prior to releases are usualy bug filled, viruses, and all the likes.

besides, anyone else than me that likes the way a new game smells.
it smells like adventure!

I don't base my judgments off of what other people write. I look into the game, I check out everything it has to offer and if it sounds like it could be fun, I'll totally go for it. I never listen to anyone but myself when it comes to purchasing games and because of that, I have rarely purchased a game that was absolute and utter crap.

Honestly though, if you can't do some research and make an informed decision on your own for any game, you may want to just crawl under a rock. I can't imagine living a life where I have to rely on everyone else to tell me whether I'll be excited or want something.

You probably think I'm being a jerk and just to be one but that's not it at all. I completely understand about not wanting to waste money but you could easily tell if a game is worth it or not simply by doing some research. Most games either have a website or forum dedicated to them and it is there that mountains of information on the game are posted.

I used to visit a website called ProjectEgo and it happens to be dedicated to all the Fable games and it is there I learned what Fable III will offer and I knew right off the bat that it would be worth pre-ordering as well as blowing $80 just for the Limited Edition. So if you want to wait, that's fine, but I feel sorry you.
