Amelia glared at the man in front of her. It had been hard enough to finagle a half-day in the first place, only to find out that even then she wasn't free of his *royal* presence. Dropping the glare in favor of a sigh and mini forehead massage, Mia one more begged the gods for her torture to end.
Of course, it didn't look like they were going to grant her that request any time soon. Why else would she be walking into an adoption agency with the one man she despised above all else? All this had been set in motion in happier times. Much happier times. Back when she was in love, thinking of getting married, starting a family. Then the self-absorbed brat began demand more and more of her time. The man she thought she loved left, she no longer had time to speak to her friends let alone visit them. And the worst part was, she could walk away at any time if she didn't mind that her career would be ruined.
And now here she was at the Mixer's lab, about to pick up the child that she and Frank were supposed to adopt. Honestly Mia wasn't even sure she would or could go through with it. She still had to let the people in charge know about... everything. And on top of that to see her employer walk through the door ahead of her.... It didn't take a psychic to predict disaster.
Taking a deep breath, Mia grabbed the door that had just swung shut. Stepping through and into the lobby she exchanged an understanding shrug with the poor soul Dickie had forced to be his personal 'assistant' for the day before heading to the desk.

Prince Richard kept the expression on his face neutral, though he would rather have scowled at this inconvenience. He was supposed to be mentoring some child for 'community service', which he felt was a waste of time. But he had no choice and thus, had found himself stuck in the back of his limo and driving around Gaia until they ended up here, at this dump. Well, okay, he'd seen far worse, but most places were dumps in the eyes of Richard.
The man stood tall, clearly awaiting something. A scowl did briefly grace his face as he turned to look at the man he'd brought along. Why had he not been announced? He should've been announced long ago. Clearly, his staff was completely incompetent.
The young man was clearly uncomfortable and gave a start when he became the target of the glare from his employer. Oh... yeah. He cleared his throat, trying to recall the proper phrasing as he moved closer to the desk before proclaiming "Presenting His Royal Highness The Prince Richard Lionel Mason Devlin Jadosky." Oh he hoped he'd gotten that right or he'd never hear the end of it!!
Prince Richard's face resumed its normal, neutral expression as he waited for whoever was in charge of this dump to show him what poor child he was stuck with for the next several weeks.

The woman at the desk, a person with long straight pink hair and a black visor over her face, seemed to completely ignore the 'announcing' of the prince. She could care less who this was or wasn't, and unless he spoke directly and politely to her, she wasn't going to acknowledge him.
"Do you have an appointment, miss?" she said, looking to Amelia as if the Prince or his attendant weren't even there.

Mia glanced sideways at the prince uneasily wondering exactly how much grief replying to the woman would garner her. As much as she hated tempering her reactions to suit His Royal Highness, there was only so much grief she could deal with on top of everything else. On the other hand, there was the high probability that Dickey wouldn't even recognize her outside of her perpetual chef's uniform.
Finally deciding to take a risk, after all it was her half-day off, Amelia nodded decisively at the woman. Taking a couple steps forward and to the side Mia smiled. "Sort of. I mean... I did but things have changed and I'm not really sure. Well, I'm not sure following through on the commitment would be wise or even still possible. It was originally for Amelia Dunne and Frank Corgin but that's changed a bit," she said, face tightening up on the last part of the sentence.
While Mia was speaking with Kaden, one over eager intern had finally gotten back from the copier with all the paperwork for the upcoming appointments. Seeing Kaden and not only one, but two prospective s waiting the poor thing nearly freaked out.
"I'm so so so so so sorry!! I was just.. I mean I needed to get the papers and I didn't mean to leave you short handed ma'am!" the intern blathered as she nearly dropped the stack of papers. Reaching the desk she beamed at the distinguished looking gentleman that was waiting a bit impatiently.
"Uh... uh... " the words just slipped out of her mouth as the intern hastily pulled together three copies of the contract together and shoved them towards the man. "You just need to sign these and then we can get everything straightened out. It's just standard stuff," she finally spit out. Trying to tug another couple of copies for the woman, the frazzled girl knocked over the whole set of papers.

Briefly, irritation flashed across Richard's face, before he quickly schooled his expression back to neutral. Was this pink-haired lady blind, deaf, or stupid? Or was it a combination of it all?
The attendant shifted his weight nervously. He could sense his employer's irritation, even with his back to the man. This... was not going well. Not going well at all. And, of course, he'd be the one blamed for it all later. And, so, when the intern appeared and started talking rather rapidly, the attendant relaxed some. Ah, here Prince "Dickey" was getting some of the attention he thought he so deserved.
And it did seem to pacify the man some, though he clearly thought that the woman in charge should be taking care of him while this ditz took care of that other woman, who for some reason looked a bit familiar to him, but was not anyone of importance and so he couldn't recall where he remembered her from.
Richard glanced towards his attendant, who took the forms and straightened them before presenting them to His Royal Highness, along with a pen. Not even bothering to read the document, Richard signed his name with a flourish, using the attendant's back as a table. He thrust both document and pen back at the younger man, who then presented the signed papers back to the intern. "Here you are, miss." The attendant added in a softer tone, "And I apologize about him... he's... odd."

Kayen nodded and shrugged. "I'm afraid you're down for taking in a child, so you'll have to do that. We really can't find a new guardian so suddenly. You will be provided monetary compensation to take care of the little one though. If you'll follow our intern, she will show both you and his royal asshat to some children." her tone was mono but had a measure of seriousness that most wouldn't dare question it. Especially since she just openly called Dickey an asshat.
Turning to the intern, she nodded politely, "You need not give anyone any special treatment here."

Mia nodded with relief. "That will be more than fine," the cook assured Kayen. Even though it had been Frank who had really been pushing for the kid, she'd been getting rather excited about it. At least excited enough to 'bully' the housekeeper about getting one of the rooms off the nursery to become her room. After all it wasn't like his royal asshat, as the worker had so kindly dubbed Richard, was ever going to use the nursery or that he knew where it even was for that matter. He'd never find out that she had take over the nanny's rooms. Just like he hadn't realized that Frank had been living at the manor for the last few months.
The intern smiled tentatively back at the assistant/desk. "It's okay," she whispered back. "I understand about odd..." Jumping at Kayen's words the young woman nodded enthusiastically. "Yes ma'm!!" the intern agreed, eager to please. Taking the signed papers she gestured to the trio. "If you'll follow me, I have a couple of kids that may work for the two of you."
Flipping through the papers for the list provided (as if Kayen or Apoxi would ever let her decide which children to show) she stopped at one of the rooms. Gesturing at the window in the door the intern smiled. "These two are available and it would be nice if we could get them to the same area but of course if you don't want them... Um. You can meet them if you want just no promises because it would be really mean to promise something that you can't follow through on." She looked expectantly at the two prospective parents.

Said asshat dutifully followed the intern, mentally arranging a formal letter of complaint over his treatment at this facility. Especially in regards to the ignorant pink-haired lady who seemed to be in charge. She should certainly have more respect for him!!
The attendant shifted nervously as they started on their way. He could tell that Prince Dickey was not in a good mood and that did not bode well for all the poor saps that worked for the terrible man. Once the intern stopped at a room, the man ducked down an adjacent hall to phone the prince's residence and at least warn the staff. Then again, when was "His Royal Highness" ever in a good mood?
Richard paused for a moment in confusion at the intern's words "same area", but assumed that she didn't know what she was talking about (she WAS an intern after all). Obviously the other woman didn't live near him. She was not the right... persona.
His majesty waved a hand. "I'm sure one of these will be fine." After all, this was just a temporary thing. Wouldn't matter what poor sap he was saddled with, none would be of a proper bloodline. Which... was supposedly part of what he was supposed to be learning. Whatever.
