Ok, so Project Natal, now known as Kinect, is Microsoft's newest craze. The Kinect will use two infrared cameras to see your body. This means that you will no longer need a controller. They say that the Kinect can 'read' your 'skeleton'. This is half true. No, it can't actually your skeleton, what it does is it assumes a, for lack of a better word, 'stick figure' and, using the infrared cameras, looks at your body. It places the stick figure over the image of your body and translates how you move to how the on screen character moves. Basically, you move and your avatar mimics your movements. You wave, it waves. You jump, it jumps. You kick, it kicks. Etc, etc. It also has a third standard RGB camera that will be able to recognize your face, and is also usable for video chat. So, my question is thus: is the Kinect just a show of new technology that will fade out as the novelty wares off, or is this the future of gaming/technological interfacing?

Given the Wii's low price tag, I think most of the people who want to play motion-sensing games already own one. I do, and I rarely use it.
Also, I think PS3 and 360 have more owners who are hardcore gamers and probably not interested in motion-sensing. When I play video games, I prefer to chill on the couch, as I'm sure most Americans do. lol
I think their biggest market will be in party games.

You bring up a valid point. I my self am guilty of playing a video game for more than an hour at a time. I don't think people are going to want to come home from work or school, already tired, and spend another hour or two exercising for entertainment sake. I also agree with your third point. If party games, or dance/rhythm games and the few exercise programs being released, are to be the mainstays of the Kinect does these justify the price tag, not to mention the advanced technology, of the product? I'd like to address your first point in my next topic...
