Hello there, it's me, Joewithajay.

I thought today would be a good day to post this, since today marks a year since the RIP project was started. In this time...well, we've grown from an idea, into a priceguide, into an idea, and somehow became a great community - influencing opinion in the exchange, being vocal, and generally causing trouble domokun

However, we have always wanted to be more than a forum. The idea for the price guide was simple - we wished to create the easiest to read, easiest to update, and most accurate guide around. For over a year now, this idea has fuelled a huge amount of work and effort - sadly, most of it will never have the chance to be seen.

It's really quite cruel, and slightly ironic. We had finally finished, and the site decided to change the layout - causing our automated updating system to fail, and we're unable to re-code it to suit the new layout.

We've tried everything. It would have been brilliant...we had graphs, prices, predictions, even news - automated totally and accurately, and had spent the better part of a year working on it. This included constant contact, help from other members, and even physically crossing countries in order to better plan the guide with each other in person (and also get rather drunk).

However, the fruit of our labours may never be seen - unless the site ever changes back, which seems unlikely.

I'd like to thank EVERY member which has ever come in contact with us. I'd also like to thank the other guides for being so supportive, especially the late EVIL (which were our first members) and SIN - which, after some rough patches, became good friends of ours - with Feline even letting me borrow her panda hat heart . However, that doesn't apply to all guides, although most have been awfully positive towards us.

Thanks to everyone that made us images too! They were great!

As for the RIP, the future is uncertain. We're officially not a price guide now, not that we really were one before.

If the Guild continues to exist, we'll work strictly as a community - maybe producing our newsletter, and further working to influence the community.

As it stands though, we're disbanding from our original concept, with me and Demo splitting the resources. The 4 RIP guilds will belong to myself, and Demo will take control of Keeper's items. I intend to keep RIP as a forum, and open up the other guilds for different projects.

I would also like to share some of the work the community never got to see, but we're keeping the most important information just in case we're ever able to use it again.

As for me and Demo, we're still great friends, and are currently working on a new (real life) project - a book, to be exact.

Again, thanks to everyone which has helped us in the past. We couldn't have done it without you, and I really mean that.

If people would like RIP to stay as a forum, please tell us below. Otherwise, I wish everyone the best of luck!

Time for me to post my goodbye-note

It has indeed been a year since our ambitious project started. After countless hours of work on what began as Project Moskow, and later became the beta version Project Apocalyps, we were finally as good as ready to release the first true version of our guide as we had pictured it to become.

Then on the very day I wanted to use the system for the first time, it immediately crashed: A most painful thing to see. It turned out the system was not compatible with the new lay-out, was no longer able to obtain the necessary information. I have spent more than a week puzzling, attempting to restore and recover the damage: My attempts were futile, the system was destroyed.

Currently, I don't have time to actively search for alternatives or do research for work-arounds I may not know of, due to the fact that my school takes up a dreadfully large amount of my time. I have some last things I might try, and I definitely will in time: With some luck we might be able to revive our guide and eventually still become what we envisioned, but I can give no guarantees.

Nevertheless, when that time comes I will try all I can to give the revival one last shot. Too much time has been spent on this project to go to waste, too much sacrifice for it all to have been in vain. Indeed as Joe said, we went across countries ((well actually, I did xd )) to meet up and made massive progress. Oh and as for the getting drunk part: I will not elaborate... sweatdrop That was rather embarrassing and I intend to keep the last bit of dignity I have left intact...

I too would like to thank everyone who helped us out, as we woul never even have come close to what we became without you all. We will make sure to let you all know immediately if we ever succeed in bringing the guide back to life. Until that day, I must tell most of you: Farewell. As some might know, I am no longer an exchanger, I retired several weeks ago.

I've achieved my goal, which was the Devil Tail, and have no business there anymore. Some of you might run into me in Roleplays, and I'll still drop by the Exchange and this guild now and then. If you wish to keep up contact, then you're of course welcome to PM me anytime. That'll be all from my part for now, again thank you to everyone who helped us.

This does suck, but if you ask me we should stay open as a community. RIP was great for asking about investments, and we can still do some work on helping people out with the community. We could all have our say on the current exchange and still inform people of when it's a good time to buy an item.

All good things must always come to an end.

Your efforts will not be forgotten.

and another one's gone
and another one's gone
Another one bites the dust.

blaugh

Ah well, that makes three guides that I've watched go.

But hey, honestly, I liked this as a forum anyhow. I'll be sticking around.
