Hello there, it's me, Joewithajay.
I thought today would be a good day to post this, since today marks a year since the RIP project was started. In this time...well, we've grown from an idea, into a priceguide, into an idea, and somehow became a great community - influencing opinion in the exchange, being vocal, and generally causing trouble domokun
However, we have always wanted to be more than a forum. The idea for the price guide was simple - we wished to create the easiest to read, easiest to update, and most accurate guide around. For over a year now, this idea has fuelled a huge amount of work and effort - sadly, most of it will never have the chance to be seen.
It's really quite cruel, and slightly ironic. We had finally finished, and the site decided to change the layout - causing our automated updating system to fail, and we're unable to re-code it to suit the new layout.
We've tried everything. It would have been brilliant...we had graphs, prices, predictions, even news - automated totally and accurately, and had spent the better part of a year working on it. This included constant contact, help from other members, and even physically crossing countries in order to better plan the guide with each other in person (and also get rather drunk).
However, the fruit of our labours may never be seen - unless the site ever changes back, which seems unlikely.
I'd like to thank EVERY member which has ever come in contact with us. I'd also like to thank the other guides for being so supportive, especially the late EVIL (which were our first members) and SIN - which, after some rough patches, became good friends of ours - with Feline even letting me borrow her panda hat heart . However, that doesn't apply to all guides, although most have been awfully positive towards us.
Thanks to everyone that made us images too! They were great!
As for the RIP, the future is uncertain. We're officially not a price guide now, not that we really were one before.
If the Guild continues to exist, we'll work strictly as a community - maybe producing our newsletter, and further working to influence the community.
As it stands though, we're disbanding from our original concept, with me and Demo splitting the resources. The 4 RIP guilds will belong to myself, and Demo will take control of Keeper's items. I intend to keep RIP as a forum, and open up the other guilds for different projects.
I would also like to share some of the work the community never got to see, but we're keeping the most important information just in case we're ever able to use it again.
As for me and Demo, we're still great friends, and are currently working on a new (real life) project - a book, to be exact.
Again, thanks to everyone which has helped us in the past. We couldn't have done it without you, and I really mean that.
If people would like RIP to stay as a forum, please tell us below. Otherwise, I wish everyone the best of luck!
