This is where the booze, the brothels, and the vices that the normal people don't like to talk about are available here. At night, no one goes out alone out of fear of being mugged, raped, or murdered. Walk around at night at your own risk.

To say this was the chief location in Japan to pry souls free of their mortal coil would be an outright lie. No, this was a far cry from anything Balta desired, and if she could have had her way about it....there would have been no death, and she could still be among them. This part of the city seemed the least likely to garner enemies of hollowkin like herself, given how this was the scene of debauchery, vice, and murders. It was that bit of logic and knowledge that Balta hinged her decision to remain in the city, to hunt here. Sounds of pleasure mingled with the other sounds known only to this part of the city, at least in the public eye of things. Balta didn't know what those sounds were, but they didn't sound human, and in that case....not appealing. How she longed to simply reach up through the layer of ground that separated her from them. From a sewer grate she could see them, and they did not take notice of a mask staring at them. How easy it would be....but something...something nagged at Balta, as if telling her not to do it. That was just about the only shred of humanity she had left that hadn't been converted into something useful that her hollow body could utilize. Hunger was growing, pushing aside other thoughts and forcing instincts further up. There had to be a way to sate these urges.....these feelings. Instincts told her that by eating human souls, she could put off the grinding, twisting agony that echoed throughout her torso. How many, though? How many would be needed to put off this torment forever?? The shreds of humanity were quickly fading, and she became more and more convinced that she needed to act now, and eat them. Ever since her initial transformation into a hollowkin two weeks ago in a factory just outside of Tokyo, and of the cases where she had acted and eaten two workers on separate occasions, Balta had reminded herself that what she had done was wrong. Yet...she hadn't been punished for it. A creeping desire to do more wrong had begun to grip her then, like a black claw tearing at her moral innards and clutching her heart....or the moral equivalent of it. It screamed like a monster ready to devour anything it saw fit, and visions of gruesome, yet satisfying scenes flashed in front of her vision. Faster and faster did they go, until at last Balta snapped out of it and resumed active consciousness. Something else had snapped, and that was the last strand holding her back, or rather, the last strand preventing the complete takeover and transformation into hollowkin. Now, everything was of one mind and one purpose, and she used her mind to try and plan out a secretive method of taking one or two of those miserable, undeserving wretches above down with her here and showing them a permanent preview of hell. No, perhaps hell wasn't the right term, as that meant something permanent end. Yes, then. She had no plans to ever give them up, so it would be permanent. If she had to suffer, then they would ease her pain, and everyone else she could devour. In a dark alley, a slightly oversized hand pushed up a manhole cover slid it off to the side. Then, like a serpent, Balta's lanky gray form twisted up, keeping very low profile. There was a low-life, a no-good mongrel whose probable intent that night was to wait for some dame to wander by with some weak escort and make himself rich. What awaited him though....was a very hungry monster that once was human. Slowly did Balta creep up behind this rogue, his scent filling her nostrils and goading her further on. Like gold in front of the greedy, she crept closer and closer into range, before extending an arm. Her claw was mere inches from his back....ready to pull his soul from his body, as all hollows can do. A moment passed, and Balta seized that moment, reaching forward to try and make her first human soul meal...to wretch soul and body apart, and pull it back towards her.

((Since this guy's an npc, and I can't auto-eat them, I'm leaving it at this, until a mod can approve the npc (to be eaten) or...whatever it is the npc mods do. :3 ))

((OOC: Crap long time to reply after permission was given, life has been crap dealing with work and being sick. ))

Much to Balta's surprise, her claw reached him and wrapped around his ribcage. Due partially to this surprise, the man in his newly awakened panicking state nearly broke free. The lawlessness of the area worked to her advantage this time, as his shouts for help were greeted with only onlookers to move on quickly and ignore him and whatever was going to happen to him. The shouts though, broke Balta free of her insecurity, and back to the act in progress. Using her grip on him, she used her hollow power to forcibly remove the man's soul from his corporal form, and dragged it back towards her. He struggled, but in vain. Even his strength would fail him, against a monster whose desire fueled her strength to overpower him. The man would turn around in her grip to at least try to face his demon, and even freed an arm. In his endeavor to liberate himself though, the man's eye finally met those of his attacker. Even then he could tell by the form that this aggressor was a woman, and it made him feel empowered, confident that he'd beat his way out somehow, and all because Balta's form was basically only that of a rather tall humanoid with rather large claw hands. In something that might be described as nightmare fuel, Balta decided on trying to shake his confidence just once more before actually eating him.

"I am a monster....and I will eat you..."

The words were simple and short, and she cocked her head off to one side and in what might be described as nightmare fuel, proceeded to open her jaws wide. Perhaps it was the second set of teeth that set him off...or perhaps it was knowledge of the fact that despite "dying" once, he was now officially going to die, being eaten....alive....so to speak. Whichever was the case, the man let out a high-pitched shriek as he descended headfirst into the "jaws of death". In a short sequence of the shriek, a definitive crunching noise and of messy, wet sounds of muscles, tendons, and organs being ripped apart. The sounds didn't really register to anyone outside, but they stayed clear of the alley. At last though, the deed was done, and Balta felt a small compensation....a feeling of satisfaction, of being whole. It wasn't a full feeling though...like it had only been halfway done properly. Her mind told her though, that this was only likely. An addiction, she told herself, was what she had. For a brief moment, Balta pondered whether all hollows felt like they had an addiction to souls....but that quickly became irrelevant. The feeling was growing again....an urge to eat more souls. If it was an addiction, it was a powerful one, gripping her entirety in its need-filled world. For now though, she needed to kill any evidence of something paranormal. She knew that this was a place where muggings often occurred, and it was for something called "money". Perhaps it was called something else, but the concept was the same. Balta fingered through the pockets carefully, until the feeling of a rectangle-shaped object came into feeling, and she withdrew it. Yes, this was this man's money carrying object...now, to place evidence that might be convincing of a mugging. She didn't have a gun, but there was a dumpster nearby. After withdrawing the actual money from it, or whatever the man might have had that looked valuable, she struggled to understand what actual muggers did with it. Maybe they took it for their own, and that would make sense....but where would she carry it? With no clothing or any pockets of any nature, it had little appeal. It tasted terrible after sampling one of the paper like money, but humans seemed to like it....for whatever reason they really wanted it that badly for. Balta then had a wonderful idea. Give it to the people, or use it to get more people away from the lighted streets. Either way, she wouldn't be identified as the culprit by anyone knowledgeable enough to know what had killed the man. Setting the money aside for the moment, she opened the dumpster and began rifling around in it. She would find nothing there, but found a weapon nonetheless. Picking up the man's body, she dragged it to the dumpster itself, and set it up partially up and against it. Lifting the lid to the dumpster, Balta made to work his otherwise solid body into a more malleable form, beating him with the metal lid until he looked like he'd been beaten. And as a convenient method of disposal, the dumpster again offered its services. Nothing but trash was in there, and that was what the body was to her now. With some sense of awareness, Balta used her free hand to scoop a large section of trash to one side and crammed him down, to bury him beneath layers of thick trash. Pleased how well that had gone, she giggled immaturely as she let the lid drop. She grabbed the money and began scaling the building nearest to her until she cleared a fence, and began moving to "work" another area of the sector. There were advantages, after all, to being smarter than the rest of her kin.

”Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass…”

ღ High on a roof near were the hollow child had taken her first meal. Spiraled on the edge of the roof; laid a woman. On her stomach, kicking her legs softly as she posed like a cat on the back of a couch on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Her pale pink hair ruffled about, her ice blue eyes stared as the hollow child moved off to something else after making her kill. The woman squinted her eyes in a glare at the demon and moved off the ledge. She place her feet on the roof and flipped her phone open. Moving from the public eyes site. Adding a small note into the phone's notepad before turning her head to stare straight at a mess of straight midnight blue hair that sat where she did. The women wasn't phased just simply slipped her hands and phone into her jean pockets. "What are you going to do, Ozoke? The being asked. Ozoke, pushed her pale pink hair back and exhaled. "Not my job, Moufubuki Bara." Bara turned her head to Ozoke. "What do you mean 'Not your job'?" She demanded. Ozoke looked at her zanpakuto spirit. "Exactly what it was implying, Buki Bara. I'm in hiding, remember?" Ozoke gave her spirit a face of 'Are you really that forgetful?'. Ozoke propped her right foot against the ledge. Her eyes following the Hollow child slowly. "Either the other Vizards take care of the hollow or we leave it to the shinigamis. I prefer not to blow my cover until I'm truly needed." Buki Bara stared at her wielder and sighed. "Very well then." She mumbled. Ozoke smiled. "The storms are always changing Moufubuki Bara. You'll see battle once more. Just a little longer is all." Ozoke turned; snatching up and full black messenger bag and vanished in a different direction then the hollow. Bara vanished after one last look at the hollow before vanishing back to Ozoke's being. The silver charms on Ozoke's belt rang high into the sky as she walk. But soon fell mute of sound.

Expectedly unaware of the entity half-heartedly observing her actions, Balta had continued onward in the laughably impossible quest to somehow retain her humanity and drive the pain from the absence of her heart. Of course it was in vain, all of her efforts to do so would inevitably end in utter failure. This was an iron law of hollowkin, an unspoken followed rule that kept them clapped in irons and "in line" with how hollows behaved. Even back then when she had killed and eaten the three humans in her brief life thus far as a hollow, Balta had done so as a hollow would. Brutally, lacking any refinement and without any hesitation. It was as if the "cautious mind" was switched off and "kill mode" was engaged, if such a thing could exist within the mind. No, what it was the taint that every human suffers from, taken to the extreme. This, in combination with the savagery of an animal...a predator with prey in sight and a desire to eat. These factors were what drove hollows to do what they did. The pitiful excuse that some, like Balta, used that "it eased their suffering" was a bald-faced lie, it did no such thing. What it did was appease their mind, tricking it into thinking that they were doing the right thing, and that their suffering could end through this. In truth, all it did would be to prepare them for the inevitable next stage of "life" as a hollow...cannibalism.

That stage wasn't too near for Balta....though the same could be said that it wasn't too far off either. The wallet she held in her left claw bothered her. It was useless, though human bait was possible. The question was....could she be bothered to be so patient again to see if it worked? Her wanderings took her out to another alleyway, roughly one point four miles away from the first site. Bearing north northwest travel into the current sector, Balta figured that had been far enough so as not to make it immediately noticeable as related to the first incident. The "plan" was simple. Toss the wallet out near the edge of the buildings that formed the alleyway's walls, where it could be found by an observant being. This time, though, Balta would not falter in her pursuit of the unfortunate soul to grab the wallet. As always, she hung back in the shadows. Not that the humans could really see her, but it was an instinct....and all she was running on now. The hunger was only growing...the need to fill the loss only grew worse. The wallet lay ready and waiting to be picked up, the hollow in place, now she had to wait. Wait and see if this was successful.

Unbelievable, that was all Balta could think with the absolutely no one that stopped to even deign to pick up or look at the wallet on the street. It wasn't like it was hidden or anything...it had been in full sight. Then the thought dawned upon her....perhaps...perhaps the people of the town had had experiences like this in the past and were familiar with hollows in their town? If that were the case, then it was almost as bad as if they could see her...the obvious trap, as it were. She shifted her weight and drummed her clawtips gently against the mask and side of her head. The sharp pain in her chest grew stronger, louder with each passing moment she wasn't devouring human souls. The mind knew that to survive, that craving...that necessity had to be sated as soon as possible. Balta wondered...was it faster to kill the humans and then freely chase the souls? Or was her current method satisfactory in its speed and results? Right now, the former sounded better, and IF the people of the town were familiar with hollowkin and what they did, then they would have reason to avoid that wallet. Balta cursed the wallet and its uselessness. Kicking stealth to the curb, she decided to try the more direct approach of forcibly making the souls appear, and faster. Now if only there were a kin like her, someone who shared the idea, that they could team up and gain mutually...but no one ever visited here.

Leaping up onto a wall and digging in with one claw and feet, Balta would utilize her free claw-hand to attack. Waiting...waiting for a few humans to pass, her anger boiled her blood. She was impatient, wanting to succeed and fill this grief-filled agony. To let her have free control of her mind and not be bothered by having to constantly look for something to sate it...was it so wrong? At last, two individuals...a couple, would appear. A "couple", as it were, making their way to the hotel just a few blocks away. Balta smirked behind her mask and swung her arm back, intending to claw right through them.

...

The claw swung downward like a pendulum blade on the return swing, and hit nothing but air. Balta actually had to stop and look at the situation to find out what had happened. In a move that ultimately would shape her personality and attack style, the couple had abruptly seen something that looked like a hotel and crossed the street. Her claw had missed by a wide margin, and her arm had nearly swung back up and hit her in the face. If she wasn't impatient and outright screaming in a fit of rage before, now she was. Leaping off the building, her clouded mind looked around for something to express her rage through, and it found an empty dumpster. It was a lucky thing that it was empty too, otherwise Balta simply could not have lifted it, even with both hands. As it was, it took both hands to lift it and her strength to heft it back above her head and fling it as hard as she could across the street to the "couple" that had deviated to there. The mass of metal flew through the air, only seconds away from hitting the target.
