I just had an interview yesterday with a budding ecological and educational organization and I was asked to tent out on a farm next summer and build the first intern cottage on the land!
If anyone has cottage designs they know of, or off the grid construction book titles I should look out for give me a heads up!
They also gave me and my friend 1/2 acre to do our own gardens! As long as it's in the name of the farm we're able to grow and produce what WE want to grow. If you have any saved heirloom seeds I can seed swap with you let me know!

I know this topic is old but... How did your internship go?
biggrin I'm graduating college soon with a general Biology Bachelors degree and I'm interested in either Agricultural sciences and Horticulture but I'm not quite sure where I want to sink my feet and hands in first.
I found an organic farm and garden center that's offering volunteer and apprenticeships. And I'm curious what kind of work and duties you had in your internship.
ps. do you know what the difference between an internship and an apprenticeship?

Hmm.... From what my active reading-and-listening skills have given me, I believe internships are almost always on a volunteer basis, and are usually done after you have completed schooling of some sort in the field you are looking for. Apprenticeships are almost always paid, and are either a part of or the entirety of your learning experience in the field you are looking for.
Apprenticeships are also usually in careers that are considered Solo (rather than group or employee based), like carpentry, cooking, plumbing, etc. Anything most people do alone or near-alone and run as a business.
