The weekend had become swiftly more boring than Leran had intended for it to be. A day planned of gallivanting around with skates and skateboards, shooting one another with paintballs and laser guns, and complete irresponsibility. But then people had to go and get sick, or families had to go and step in and prevent it, or some teacher had to sprint some whacked out assignment... Leran was the only one left without something to do.
The last person had called while he was waiting. So now the teenager sat at the edge of some stairs at the park. He'd taken out his new favorite toy, his "Berrel of Monkeys" and was trying to get a chain of monkeys to pick up a leaf on the ground.
"There's got to be something better than this to do." He muttered.

"CONGRATULATIONS NEW DADDY!" Broke the boys quite before he felt something small and soft tackle his back. Small arms slipping round his neck brandishing a sword. Luckily it was only plastic and very non threatening as the small..thing gave him a tight hug.
An slightly 'off' set of footsteps echoed behind him then, interrupted by a rythmic click. A calm cool voice full of command sounded. "Kailani Crane. Let go of that boy and come back here. What do you think you are doing?"
The small form instantly withdrew and shuffled back to her guardian scuffing the bottom of her boots on the dirt path. "Kai, what was that for?" The other person that had hugged him, and was infact a white haired girl pouted. "But He has one. He's like you Dad." she explained looking back at poor Laren as a look of understanding dawned briefly on Ira's face. "I see, still that no excuse. You are not to do that again to a stranger do you understand." "Yes." the girl replied sulkily as Ira turned his attention to the teen. "I appolgize for that. Kai just gets over excited sometimes."

"Whoa!" Leran dropped the monkeys in an attempt to brace himself from the little thing, then turned around with a grin. Obviously she had the wrong person. "I don't---" Ah, good, father to save the day. Weird, he didn't look like the sort to allow his little girl to go rave as this one looked. He turned to pick up the monkeys as this father scolded, then turned back around with a wave and a grin.
"Nah, it's ok. Mistakes happen. You looking for someone? I saw a couple with a newborn head that way." He pointed. "Girl with super long, black hair?" As he spoke, he stood, stuffing the monkeys back in their barrel and then stuffing it back into his pocket. He tried to keep his eyes on the man to prevent looking at the little one. Something seemed off about her, but he hadn't done more than glance as she moved about to catch it.

"No We...." Before Ira could Finnish the sentence kalaini cut across him. "It's not a mistake, we never make mistakes. He was waiting for you for a long time." he told him sternly, a voice not toe be taken likely even coming from such a small person. She paused catching a looking from her father and quickly feel silent again apart from a small whine. "But papa, you know I'm right." she murmured as Ira took a deep breath and put both his hands on the cane which he rested infront of him.
"No we are not looking for anyone, but I do believe Kailani was referring to your barrel of monkeys." Kai nodded viagriously and tried to edge closer to the pocket he had stashed the toy in.
"I would have preferred to let you find out for yourself because you are likley to think I have gone insane but allow me to hazard a guess at where you got that barrel." he paused to spare another look for his daughter warning her not to cause more trouble or interrupt. "I would say you got it recently in a very old curiosity shop. Stacked with just about everything and the blue haired women that runs it let you have that item for free saying only you could not return it."

"What?" Leran now had a reason to look the girl over, confused at her words over mistakes. Then the man clarified that it had to do with... the barrel? That even made less sense.
"What, she likes this?" Leran asked, before the man could go into his explanation. He pulled out the barrel of monkeys and offered for Kai to look, cupping it in his hand so he could snatch away should she grab for it.
He blinked, looking to the man. "Yeah. How'd you know? You frequent it a lot or something?" Only thing he could figure was that the man recognized something from the shop. "You want it back? I thought it was weird she just gave it to me, you know, it looks like it might be worth something if it's as old as it seems. I mean, I'll pay for it. I can."
He.... didn't want to give it up, for whatever unknown reason he wouldn't admit to himself over, but better that than avoid some random legal mess.
