Jianyu was not entirely certain he wanted to apologize. After all, he had just spent the past ten minutes attempting to explain his way out of apologizing. To give in felt weak and humiliating, but which exactly was worse? Being humiliated because he was apologizing to man younger than he was, or being humiliated because he had caused a scene in the middle of a crowded street? It was not entirely unlike the time when he had chased Bataar down Main Street and had fought him in the middle of a fountain. And then of course Bataar had stripped naked, furthering Jianyu's embarrassment, but he had not been embarrassed in front of Bataar; only the people around them. Which is what made this situation different. Jianyu was not exactly pleased that he felt humiliated in front of this young man who kept speaking to him as if he were simply a rebellious child.

However, it seemed as if an apology was the only thing that might perhaps earn a grain of respect back. Or at least it would stop this young man from tormenting him further. Jianyu sighed, gritting his teeth and ducked his head in a half bow, his face to the ground.

"I apologize for my behavior earlier." he said, somewhat woodenly, before straightening again. "Please accept my apologies."

The young noble smiled and nodded at Jianyu's apology. He had a kind face, though it was hard to find any air of kindness from the aura he emitted. It had a single component of pride, or arrogance, of the realization that the man finally succumbed to him without shedding blood nor sweat. It was time to let go, although Cui could not help but to wonder why he was so merciful today. He was so certain, that even if Jianyu had apologized the moment he bumped into the young noble, Cui would still toss a good deal of insults at him. It must have been his mood, today was a bad day already, he didn't have to make things worse by acting more spoiled than he already was.

"Apology accepted."
Cui chirped. If there was one regret, it was the fact that the man's apology was a part of a deal. Jianyu didn't want to apologize, thus it was questionable if the man really felt sorry about what he had done. On the other hand, the incident was rather small, perhaps too small that many forgiving individuals would have ignored it and went on. Of course, Cui was not forgiving, although it didn't seem necessary that the man had to apologize. If only Jianyu appeared to be humble and well-mannered...

Brushing on hand against his chest Cuiyan bowed back to Jianyu in a gentleman pose. "As promised, my name is Cuiyan. Now, if there aren't anything else you wish to say, I shall now bid you farewell...young man."

That was...as polite as Cui could be.

Jianyu eyed the other young man somewhat suspiciously, as if trying to gauge whether or not he actually would apologize. He seemed like the type who might say that he would and then say he was merely jesting. However, despite his doubts, Jianyu was ready to leave this young man already, having already made a fool out of himself enough in front of him. It galled him somewhat to know that he, a Captain of the Legion, had acted like a spoiled child, of all things.

Or like Bataar. Jianyu shuddered, attempting to dispel that particular thought from his mind. Oh, dear Lunaria I do not want to be similar to that man in the way he acts. That is a slightly disturbing thought.

To his surprise, however, the young man did indeed keep his half of the bargain, bending over in a bow, his hand on his chest. CuiYan. It was an interesting name that went with an interesting - albeit infuriating - young man. Jianyu had almost decided to forgive him, but the last two words from CuiYan's mouth had Jianyu scowling at him again.

"Well, CuiYan," he said, somewhat snappily. "If anyone should be called a 'young man', it should be you, you stubborn brat."

He was done. Jianyu resisted the very childish urge to kick CuiYan in the shin, and turned around, his hair whipping against his shoulder. Just before he was about to leave, he cast an irritated glance back over his shoulder at the young man.

""My name is Qian Jianyu." he said. "Not that you will ever need to know it, but in case we have the misfortune of running into each other once more, at least have the decency to call me by my given name rather than some ridiculous form of teasing."

Tucking the jar for his sister back under his arm, Jianyu pivoted forward again and walked away.
