Clermeilli-Pie had spent the last week with Daire doing dang near everything for her. It was really nice of him, and while she knew she should not let him, she was just so tired most of the time. What it came down to was she was either too tired to protest, or when she did protest, he overrode her protest and tired her out.

She had not gone far in those days either. Daire did not seem to like her walking too much, and more to keep him from worrying than anything, she limited how far they traveled. The company was wonderful, and every day made her a little more attached to having him around. And of course the day had to come when she came together with Niade and Zimo again.

She saw the two before Daire, thankfully, and called out to them. "It is about time you two showed up again! I was beginning to wonder if you left the jungles, my friends." Clermeilli-Pie walked over to them and nuzzled both the dark female and light male on the cheeks. "Niade, Madzimoyo, this is my new friend Daire. Daire, this is Niade and Madzimoyo."

The young dark lion had been grooming the crusty dried blood from his paws and lips when Clermeili-Pie's voice alerted him they had company. Daire swung his head towards the strangers and quickly rose up to his paws to greet them properly. He took his place beside the blue lioness and offered the other two felines a bow.

"Hello Niade and Madzimoyo. It's wonderful to know Clermeili-Pie isn't that alone after all." His blue eyes scanned each of them, the warm grin never vanishing from his otherwise ferocious face.

Niade was happy as always to run into Clermeilli-Pie. She was suspicious at first at finding her freind in the company of a strange lion, but this clearly was not the demon. The fur down Madizimoyo's back bristled showing his own unease at finding Clermeilli with a lion.

Both were reasured by her warm welcome, nuzzling their friend in return before turning to Daire.

Niade gave a polite nod of her head in return and grinned. "It's a surprise to find our friend in company, but a good one. Glad to see Clermeilli-Pie's had some extra help since we last separated."

Zimo bowed a bit stiffly and mumbled his own greeting. "Hello."

Clermeilli-Pie watched her friends closely. Neither seemed very thrilled with Daire at first. She wondered why that was, but suspected it was because they worried about the pregnant lioness a bit too much.

She found it highly amusing that Daire had not managed to get all the blood off his fur before her friends showed up. There was still at least one spot on his muzzle. Daire being caught unprepared for anything was a rare occasion and thus all the more reason to be amused by the occurrence for the blue lioness.

The amused look does not waver. "He insisted on staying by my side... as a protector and hunter." Her expression turns a bit smug. "I think he spoils me a bit... he insists on doing all the hunting, AND can carry on a decent conversation." And just like that the amusement is back on the lioness' face. The whole situation really was entertaining, and yet sweet.

Daire noticed the suspicion in the stranger's eyes, and tried to hide the concern from his face. Niade's discomfort seemed to vanish quickly, but Zimo's seemed persistent. Or perhaps the mumble and the unenthusiastic bow was his customary behavior. Nevertheless, Daire was desperate to please Clermeilli-Pie's friends. As if to seek approval, even though he stubbornly doesn't require it to go on serving her.

A much more genuine smile appeared as Clermeilli-Pie began to speak. "It's the very least I could do..." I thought about empathizing with the pregnant female. Letting her know he knew how she felt. But he didn't, and never will. All he can do is dig up all the respect he can muster and offer it to her on a silver platter. Women were amazing for their ability to give new life. Daire never failed to be astounded by this.

Niade was even more reasured by Daire's behavior. "It's good to meet a lion so respectful and responsible," she replied. It was certainly a change from the lions she was normally around.

Zimo admitted to himself that he was jealous. It could have been him being the protector and hunter, but he'd just gone along with Niade. He felt foolish both for his jealousy and because it was all his own fault. Maybe he'd have been better off if Belial had just left the blue legged young lion to starve out on the plains. In his mood he certainly caught the hidden barb in Niade's statement. "I'm sorry," he said. "I think I need something to drink." He turned to walk toward the nearest stream, not wanting it to look too much like he was running away.

Niade gave him an odd look but he didn't notice. She turned back to the others. "Don't mind him; he's been a bit odd since we began traveling through this jungle. He may be missing big brother Belial." She shrugged a bit helplessly.

((sorry for the dramatic Zimo. He's trying to let me know there's a lot more to him than I originally planned. ))

"Respectful... perhaps." Clermeilli-Pie's eyes twinkle. "It is almost like having my father around again." That was high praise coming from her. She called Niade, Zimo and Bel friends and even thought of them as siblings sometimes, but Daire had managed to impress her enough that she leveled him with the respect she had for her father.

Clermeilli-Pie gave Niade a knowing look. "Usually he is so happy to see me, Niade... There is something more than just missing Bel, perhaps?" She wondered if they should go ask Zimo what was wrong. Would he even answer? He would not lie to them as far as Clermeilli-Pie knew. Okay she trusted him not to lie to them. But he could refuse to answer, that was his right.

The dark lion offered Niade a grateful nod. Then as Clermeilli-Pie mentioned her father, Daire started to fluster. His attempt to remain motionless was shattered as a paw nervously clawed the earth, the warmth beneath the fur on his face increasing with warmth.

Daire looked shocked as the other male departed so abruptly. He couldn't prevent his mouth from falling slightly agape as he watched him leave. He couldn't have said something to offend him... Could he? Daire's tail flicked to express his discomfort as he looked helplessly to the females. It was rude to speak unless spoken to in the presence of a friend's company.
