I stated before in another thread how I was at the DMV & a woman had her daughter with her.
The little girl was getting a impatient waiting around in that boring build & eventually started to make a bunch of noise.
To get the daughter to settle down the mother looked at her & said " If you behave I'll take you to Mc Donalds after this"
I laughed.. because .. my mother said that so many times when I was a kid. Mc donalds was the s**t back then & I have no idea why.
The reason Im making this thread is because not only is the nostalgia of the matter funny.. but it got me thinking about what your parents used to bribe YOU with.
Not only bribe but threaten.
Mine was " if you don't settle your a** down you're ganna get it when you get home" & " Don't make me pull this car over!"
x3 Parents are funny. Wonder if we will ever say the same things as they said to us when we have kids of our own some day ( If you don't have them already )

I only really remember my parents bribing me with little puzzles, and these sticks of fruit we had.
Oh, and my incentive to learn to do...something I don't remember, was that I would be allowed to keep pet mice, or rats if I so chose. Which...never ended up happening, actually.

My parents were extremely strict so if we didn't do what we were told, we were in huge trouble. There was no bribing. You just did it.

My parents would bribe.... never while we were out. if we wanted something, we had to work for it. and if we were misbehaving, we got warned. And we listened. Why? Not because of the threat, but because of the knowledge that they would deliver on their promises.
<<; i've had my share of spankings, tanned hides from a shoe, and clawing from my grandma's infamous talons. And let me tell you, I did NOT like incurring their wrath.

Bribe me with? HAH! I told them what would make me calm down which was usually either something they PROMISED to get me anyways or something I should have reguardless... like some peace/time to think and breath. I'm the type that is impossible to sway when I know I'm right so bribing me never did any good. However when they rarely offered some cash I'd accept it, but they hardly did that... I grew up poor, LOL.
Punnishment for me was being confined to my room, I only bothered to comply because I had no where else to go and I knew that my mom would follow me and annoy me til I did as I was told. No TV was no sweat, used to stash my old Gameboy Color in my room where they couldn't find it... under the bed, LOL. I never got hit past age 7 due to my Germanic bloodline making me big/strong at an early age and the fact that it was my grandma *she's only about 5 foot 2 but really mean, greedy and annoying* who usually hit me. I think it became clear to them that the only people I loved enough not to strike were my grandpa and my mom. I never hit my grandma but I came hell of close... I opted to just break that damned yard stick she used instead and say "NOW HIT ME YOU b***h!" Breaking that stick was like tearing down the Berlin Wall. *sniff* Ahhhhh, halloooooo freiheit! mrgreen

My parents bribe....nothing really. You just did what you were told. Except I was a pretty stubborn lil' stinker and probably was really annoying to deal with. I once wanted to go to the bakery for cookies so bad that I got my older brother to open the front door for me so I could walk the 2 miles to the bakery.
Nowadays. Like hell I'd walk 2 miles for a damn cookie. Is it sad to realize that I was a much more driven individual as a child? sweatdrop
