This is a private role play between Shi Xiu [Honeybii] and Jing Liu [hellotea].

Setting:

Liu has made some steamed buns full of red bean paste. What kind of unwanted people will the delicious treats attract?

------------------

Liu hummed gently, skittering back and forth between the kitchen and the front door in a hurry that seemed only to be perfected by the boy. He was most definitely a good hurrier and got what he needed to be finished done. But here was the question: what in the world was the boy hurrying for? He was making buns today - a special request made by his mother and granted by her all-too-willing son. Liu would do anything for his mother, he really would, and that was probably what led their wonderful mother-son relationship.

Finally finding the red beans, the boy put them into a large bowl and pouring the beans into a large pan. He'd spent last night just soaking the beans (oh dear, it had been boring) and now he had to boil them. Now, it wouldn't really be that monotonous if he had something to do, but there were no lessons at the Academy and his mother was being silent (as she usually was). So as he placed the beans into the pot and turned on the fire, Liu sat on the floor and started reading a book. It took the better hours of the morning to finish the boiling, and by the time he had finished making the dough, the boy was already yawning. Deciding to finish up the job quickly, he waited for the bean sauce to cool down a bit before wrapping them in the dough pieces quickly (hoho he was getting fast now) and putting them on the stove again to steam.

Half an hour later they were done, and the unmistakable smell of red bean paste buns wafted through the air, making Liu breathe in happily. Grabbing a few and placing them on a plate, he wandered into his mother's room and put them on her table (mother was sleeping) and sat on the floor, waiting for his own to cool.

He didn't realize his eyes were closing......

The unexpected smell of fresh buns filled the air, causing Xiu to pause and sniff, taking in the delectable scent of red bean paste. He nearly melted. His stomach grumbled loudly and he groaned, cursing the gods for their bad timing. Xiu was practically starving. Things at the Temple had been a bit tight lately and nothing but fish and rice had been served for the last week. Xiu was getting tired of it and the out of ordinary scent of freshly made red beans made him nearly moan in want.

Of their own free will, his feet began to take him down a side path towards some homes. He was supposed to be trying to make money, but it could wait. Not like he could do anything on an empty stomach after all. With that thought firmly in place, he eagerly searched out of the source of the smell.

Then he saw it. Someone had left their window open and inside Xiu could see a full plate of the buns sitting on a low table, just begging to be eaten. He didn't see the sleeping boy. The buns were the only thing in his vision. He could almost just reach through the window had take them. But then…that would be stealing. Then again, he was a starving temple trainee. This could be like…a tithe. Yeah, that’s right. He banished evil spirits at local shrines, so an offering should definitely be made.

With a gulp and trying not to think too hard on what he was doing, Xiu leaned into the window, hand outstretched and reaching for one of the buns.

Liu's eyes were closed, but his senses were strong. He wasn't the type of person who dozed off and fell asleep immediately - he was always alert, and that ... well, that was just a part of him. He was alert. As has been mentioned much before, he had the ability to become a Fighter because of his senses and the pure instinct he had - the boy just wasn't material because of his body type. And as was quite well-known, Liu was going to get over that obstacle! Of course!

He heard the person long before he committed the deed. It was unbelievably sad how much noise the person was making, because it really wasn't ... well, if he was coming to steal Liu's bean paste buns, why was he making so much noise? The only solution Liu could come up with was that he didn't think he was making that much noise. Or maybe Liu's senses were sharper than he thought. Either way, he heard the Lunarian coming and while he wasn't sure the person was making his way towards the plate of buns, it was obvious once he/it? started reaching a hand towards the plate.

Opening his eyes and standing up suddenly, Liu reached over and grabbed his hand, looking at the other boy (finally, he'd found out the gender of this person) and smiling in a way that probably was quite scary.

"What are you doing?" He said, raising an eyebrow in an expression of anger. He didn't like people stealing things. It was not dignified at all.

The hand that grabbed him was unexpected and the person attached to it even more so. Xiu froze, knowing without a doubt that he'd just been caught. He stared, wide eyed at the rather scary boy while perched precariously over the windowsill. A million things roared through his mind and he frantically searched for a way to escape. Darn his stomach!

"I-I..." Xiu's words stuttered out as he vied for more time. Finally he tried to tug away. If he could free he could run for it and be free and clear. That unfortunately wasn't the way of things. Xiu couldn't seem to free himself from the other boy's iron grip. He tugged backwards hard though.

In the end, Xiu accidentally pitched forward right through the window! With a shriek he landed on his face, skin and bone thinking painfully into the rug. He groaned, trying to right himself and scuttle away from the stranger at the same time.

He was in deep trouble.

Liu blew out his cheeks, looking at the person's wrist he had caught. And then lifting his face and standing up, he finally caught a good-to-honest look over the intruder. The boy was around his age, he supposed, with honey brown hair and bright eyes. It might have been just a reaction to his attempt at theft, but Liu narrowed his eyes and looked over the boy again. Hmm. Definitely suspicious.

He wasn't paying much attention to the boy as he tugged and pulled at Liu's hand, trying to get free. Liu was weak. But this boy was weaker - or at least had around the same level of strength as him. Besides, Liu wasn't about to give up his buns to a dirty-grubbing thief like him! Even so, he didn't notice when Xiu flew into the window and into his house, dirtying his rug as well.

Blinking and turning around to look at the mysterious boy, he crossed his hands over his chest and sighed. "That was stupid of you." He remarked dryly, looking at the boy sprawled on his rug. "You don't look like a thief, so why are you trying to steal the buns?" Liu continued, having caught a closer glance at Xiu's attire. He looked like a monk in a temple (or at least an assistant of some sort) and well... monks didn't steal.

The fall had done nothing to improve Xiu’s sense of pride and he winced, rolling back to sit on his heels as he rubbed his abused nose. He turned his eyes to look up at the other boy, his expression apologetic and recalcitrant all at the same time. Yes, he’d just been caught red handed, but that didn’t mean he had to be happy about it. Though…he’d try not to let on. The person in front of him look a bit unsettling.

“I’m no thief and I’m not stupid either!” Xiu retorted, before he could catch himself. He realized his error and slapped a hand over his runaway mouth. His green eyes rolled back to stare at the colorful carpet. What was he supposed to say now? ‘Oops sorry I was trying to steal from you’ didn’t sound good at all.

Groaning internally, Xiu slowly stood, head down and one foot toeing the carpet guiltily. “I mean I’m sorry for breaking into your home.” He looked up at the other boy again, features daring him to get more angry. “My name is Xiu and I was just hungry.” It wasn’t really an excuse. It was just the truth.

There was something about the boy in front of him that made Liu want to laugh; the way he was wincing, rubbing his nose, and sitting on Liu's floor like it was Liu's fault he had fallen. Either way, he was entertaining, and he was looking at Liu with a sort of half-in-shock kind of way that made Liu smile and a sort of pity-me-please way that didn't make Liu want to smile.

He also seemed to be jumpy, which made Liu feel a little jumpy as well. Xiu seemed all over the place, and after he slapped a hand over his mouth, scandalized after he had talked back, Liu was pretty sure he wasn't much of a threat. Hopefully. He also looked like he regretted stealing the buns, and Liu wasn't a bad guy. He really wasn't. He was always quite forgiving to those who deserved it, and while this boy didn't deserve it, he looked hungry and that was enough. "Right, you're not stupid." He said, pretty sure that Xiu would disagree no matter what he said (it was a matter of pride, really.)

Grabbing a bun off the table, he handed it to the stranger boy. "Here ya go. Don't steal next time, just ask." He looked like someone Liu could baby - he was sort of delicate looking, and Liu couldn't really resist. After all, there weren't a lot of people on the world that even Liu thought he could beat up.
