You don't need to stick it out to emphasize your point," he grunted. " But yes. I just don't know how, or where, or when. I can't tell if he'd want something grandiose or subtle." Lock settled his hand on his lap, looking out the window and spying an amusement park that was still closed for the winter. Was the circus in town still? No. Damn. Okay, let's think. Eyes returned to Fredrich, how determined. " Okay, so here's what I'm thinking: the park. Take him on a walk, but arrange flowers, chocolate, the works on the way to a picnic under the stars. Once you get there, offer him a glass of champagne, all that. And then, look up at the sky. What's that? Fireworks! As he's looking up, you turn to him, brush his hair from his face, then stand and pull him up and towards the big fountain where the water spouts up, lights flicker on all around, and when he looks in amazement back to you, you're on your knee with a ring box in your hand! Oh, it'll be magical~"

In this world, one cannot say anything without proof to back them up.The more Lock explained the imaginary scenario, the more pale Fredrich became. He never thought of himself as that kind of romantic, and thinking of himself doing things like that, well, brought a sense of discomfort to him. But if that's what Ellery would want... " I feel like you've thought about this longer than I have," he murmured to the dancer. " Hey," Ethan greeted as he came in shortly after. He smiled proudly at Lock as he delivered the food. " The pasta fell on me as soon as I got into the car, but I ordered a second one just in case this happened." " Ah, if it isn't the light of my life~" He took the food, setting it on a table and pulling Ethan into a brief kiss. A thought occurred to him. " Wait, so if Ellery's given you the cold shoulder and you've been back together for a couple months, then that means you haven't gotten laid since- oh, you poor thing! No wonder you're letting me give you advice!"

" I'm letting you give me advice because if I were to hit you that'd open your wound," he snapped. " What's wrong?" Ethan asked while glancing the detective's way. He looked over to Ethan, nodding. " Ellery's doing the cold shoulder thing. But I told Fredrich that we can help!" He paused, then glanced towards Fredrich. " But Ethan's right, you two have been fighting a lot. You're stubborn and that's not a terrible thing, but it could end up ruining your relationship. Ethan and I had to learn to compromise to save ourselves from breaking up. Do you and Ellery ever compromise or does someone always have to win?" he asked, holding a lot of insight for a young man his age.

Now you are going to talk to me or I swear to God, I will see to it personally that Ellery gets the hell of out Dodge." He pushed a button that made the bed shift so he would sit up. " This proposal will never work if you aren't sincere, Fredrich. He will see right through it and assume you're doing it just because you think it's what you have to do, not what you want to do."

There would have been plenty of moments for that before," Fredrich sighed while scratching the back of his head. This was troublesome. All they did was fight and tolerate each other. Maybe he was proposing out of obligation. What was the point of saving what was already ruined? " You must love him if you're going to us for help," Ethan chimed in, reading the detective's expression. He smiled softly at him when he looked his way. " I mean, Lock and I have had plenty of moments when we thought there wasn't much point in keeping what we have. It's kind of like a phase, you know? A dry period. Then things get better and you remember why you love him." Fredrich looked at Ethan as he spoke then glanced elsewhere. " Ethan always knows he's beautiful and loved, and not just because I tell him. I do little things all the time, just like he does for me. Like, if I'm having a bad day, he'll sit next to me and try to make me laugh until I forget why I was upset in the first place. Stuff like that." He held up the ring. " This thing is just a symbol for us. Sure, it's stunning and you'd have to cut off my arm to get me let go of it, but it's more than just a ring. It's us. Do you think you can find a ring that fully represents your love for Ellery?"
