In both the vocals need to be clearer. Another thing you could use is a better mic. Your Ps are really damn harsh.

both kinda. he strikes me as the type of person that throws a couple of simple songs together, never to create again, then thinks he's a musician. im saying this cuz they songs he has online are very novice and he has moved on and created new stuff(and this was a while ago). there's a lot of "chip artists" like that. im pretty sure ive been doing this for way less time and i chip circles around him. lol.

That came off as describing about 99% of the "musician" population today. There are some good songs still being made once in a while (Unreal Superhero 3 by Kenet and Rez is a good example of a good 8-bit) but most people just use simple chords/arpeggios with a crappy melody above and call it music.
