History: Celeste is your average girl from an average little town in some state that no one has ever heard of, unless the currently live there. People don't leave small towns like her's because people feel safe there. Everyone knows everyone else and their business. Everyone there is comfortable with who and what they are, so why leave? And just as people rarely leave (because we all know a few brave souls will), people rarely moved to her town either. Most outsiders weren't cut out for very small town living, or very small town lack of privacy. Because where everybody knows your name, everybody knows your family and your closet full of skeletons... or crazy aunts... make that aunt, singular.
Growing up in a small town didn't mean Celeste was naive and sheltered. She had TV and internet and indoor plumbing like most people. She was just used to a lower crime rate than most big city hanchos. Really, there was no reason at all for her to leave. Except for that crazy aunt, of course. Celeste's Aunt Sybill, legal garden until Celeste reached 18, is a little bit on the eccentric side. She's a professor at a local community college and teaches divination of all things! It's hard to find your own way in a small town when everyone knows your aunt is a Loon, with a capital L.
So the day Celeste turned 18, she took what savings she had and left Little Town On The Continent to travel to Little Island On The Sea.
Celeste had honestly planned to leave at the end of Year 2 to go back home and get into the college groove. But, for one reason or another she never left. Instead, Celeste remained on the island, still living in room 106 at the Inn, which now has more a more lived in feel than it did in her first to years on the island. She considered a house, but... if she was going to live alone anyway... the Inn was enough.
Even though she didn't leave the island for college, Celeste still started working toward her a degree as a part-time student. Classes are podcast now-a-days so there was no excuse really. It made for a busy two years, but she is pretty good at managing her time and she didn't let school rule her life, which is one of the things she had been afraid of when she skipped college to come to Nirvani instead.
During the time skip Celeste got closer to old friends and even made some new ones. After her girls night out/New Year's party night with Amanda the two became fast friends. Even though Amanda left for the two years, Celeste tried to keep in touch with her though with all the moving around that girl did it was sometimes hard to find her.
Freja, throughout the two years became Celeste's best friend. You wouldn't think it possible but Celeste became comfortable with Freja's store (though she still reacts badly to any other magic stuff) and spent lots of her free time assuring Freja that her child wouldn't be popping out at the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, or eighth month mark. Nor any of the weeks in between.
Celeste also found a good friend in Gemma. Celeste wasn't always receptive to being her friend, however. The first couple of times Celeste saw Gemma she couldn't seem to get past an unusual dislike of the woman. Which was incredibly weird because doesn't tend to dislike anyone. After belatedly realizing that her feelings of dislike for Gemma stemmed from Celeste's own growing feelings for Crimson... well it was easy to put the dislike behind her and even easy to call Gemma a friend. She really did love that cooky woman.
Crimson... Well, as mentioned above, Celeste finally admitted to herself that she liked her boss alot more than she should. But seriously, who wouldn't fall in love with that sexy Australian. I mean really. But, he is her boss and he does seem to have feelings for Gemma, who is more his age (not that Celeste cares about their age difference), and so Celeste has kept it to herself.
One friend, one she didn't realize was a friend until he was leaving was Robert. She found herself missing him more than she thought she would after all of their adventures together.
Even though Celeste decided to stay on the island she did take a couple of vacations throughout the skip. Venturing home to visit family and once to go backpacking across Europe.
