To Shop Or Not

The marketplace and square are the two most active places in the city of Priyal. Each day vendors open their doors or stalls to customers buying fresh produce and imports fresh off the ships. Colorful items fill the area with bright reds, oranges, yellows, greens, and blues.

The voices of vendors hawking their wares echo in the air. Customers laugh and comment on what they see as they walk through the shops.

Large stone pots filled with bright flowers sit in the four corners of the square. The clocktower rises up in the center. Wooden benches are scattered around the square to allow people to sit and talk with each other.

Sally Cels owns the Wary Wanderer, a shop which sells amulets, bracelets, and other charms of protection. She is also in charge of the vendors group that sets up sales events.

Maybelle Carson, a resident, walks to the square each day. She buys her lunch and sits on the bench while watching and talking to the people as they pass. Then she buys her produce for supper before she goes home. She is known as a gossip only because she sits there each day, watching and listening to the people.

Jimmy is an orphan boy who frequently helps the vendors in the market or other people in the square. He runs errands refusing to steal his livelyhood and is considered to be extremely honest by all the shopkeepers.

The problem :

A group of pickpockets have been plagueing the area. It has only been the last three months that it has been so commonplace. Previously it would be one or two occurrences a month, considered minor to the amount of activity. Now it is 5-10 items ever couple days. The last week there has also been some vandalism of a few shops.

Reward:

A personal auto-encounter with a special NPC ghostling during the Metaplot that can be caught.

What you need to do IC :

Post #1 : Write an interaction with Sally Cels getting all the information you need. Get the information she has about the missing items and vandalism. She should have a list of what has been stolen or broken in the marketplace.

Post #2 : Look around the marketplace and familarize with the shops there. Look at the the goods, the customers that come every day, and any trouble that occurs there. Describe what you see as well as give shop names and feel free to name anyone who frequents the area daily, and describe the area.

Post #3 : Talk to Jimmy and discuss what you think if happening. See if you can gain his help or not. If he decides to help you, do you trust him or not?

Post #4 : Check the people who have access to any of the shops as employees and see if anyone knows anything. Include the people who sit in the square day or night. Perhaps they have seen something or nothing. It is up to you to create the atmosphere and the people there.

Post #5 : Check the shop lists for clues to where specific goods are located and who has opportunity. Search every nook and cranny of the warehouses and see what is going on.

Post #6 : Check the security guards. Find out when their patrols are, the routes they walk, when they exchange shifts.

Post #7 : Find out if the trouble is occurring during the busiest or quietest times and if the vandalism is related to the pickpocketing. Is it one group? Two groups? Or more?

Post #8 : Report to Sally Cels. Give her a written report and explain to her what you have discovered. Include the security patterns of the guards. She will take it to the Mayor who wants this problem solved. Sally needs to have received a physical report in her hand when you turn in your information.

OC Notes :

You can use this form for the report, but the length is up to you. Just be sure to include all the information asked for or that you have figured out.

There should be at least 4-6 decent paragraphs per post. Have fun with it. Play with new characters. Play with the NPCs listed below as you see fit. Play with descriptions of the area. It is up to you to create the small details that make it live. And if it is longer than what has been outlined, additional perks might be rewarded.

NPCs that you may freely control are : They may have information or clues that you need. You decide.

One post a week is sufficient, but if you are really enjoying and finish the quest, simply let me know.
