ok, you are in a plane over the pacfic comeing home after a hunting trip in asia when your engin blows up and you crash on an island no one knows exists. you swim ashore and the next moring your some what intact plane washes ashore. so now the only things you have are:
wrecked plane haul and cabin
9mm hand gun with 2 mags and a box of 50 rounds
a 30-30 hunting rifle with 20 rounds
a hunting knife
a gallon of fresh water
a weeks worth of food
a rusted hatchet
a box with 3 matches
and a back pack
how would you survive?

Hijack the island at gun point and demand it take me home.

Shoot at random planes for fun. The more crashed planes more chance of getting found, more supplies, maybe hot females. Assuming they survive.. eat my food and water by portions, drink coconuts. Make a fire eat fish. Save my ammo for ninja pirates.

If there is natural fresh water and food there then yes I think I would be ok. Seeing as I have plenty to start with I can make a place to live and possibly get a good start with the supplies I do have. I can ration my food and water use while setting up a filter system and setting traps for animals and gathering other foods. My main goal would be shelter off the beach maybe someplace high with a cleared area for a signal. A gun would be ok for protection but I would save them as much as possible unless there is danger their not much use in my opinion. Using them to hunt would be a last resort. I would build a shelter as a first step and move all my stuff off the beach. Set up some signals something reflective, a fire and something that just looks out of place a large V. I would then start looking for a moving water source around my area and note any food I can find. I would try to build my camp around that area so I wouldn't have to travel far. As days pass I would stay busy clearing a place for a helicopter or plane to land. The main thing is to stay busy working on survival projects and hope for the best. I would eventually try hard to build a boat if I have an idea as to where I am.
