Premeta Quests
There are two types of quest interaction being offered for these Premeta quests. These are the only types of quests that will ever be in this forum. Other questing will be in the normal RP forum when that is offered at a later date. Direct and Indirect depending on what the players want to do.
Direct Questing
Direct questing is the style where the information for the quest is outlined in the first post. Then it is up to you to decide how to fulfill the conditions of the quest.
Anyone with a formal name will be fair game in the quest to ask questions of and their names will be listed in the quest information. But it's up to you to decide whether the answers are truth or false. After you have figured out what you think is going on, you simply have to report back to your NPC. There will be a listing of what the NPC wants from you.
This quest can be as long or short as you want it. It is YOUR adventure. Some do like to plot on their own with just a few guidelines and this way suits that well.
Indirect Questing
The second style is indirect interaction. You will be given an RP starter post with basic information but in this instance it will look like a story portion. You simply reply to it as you would if you were in a joint RP with a friend. This style takes control from you. It lets you react as you see fit, but the story is under my control. Then we simply post back and forth until the quest is solved.
It is a more controlled RP and based on reaction more than creation.
These are PREMETA simply because the end results are going to be used in some way in a Metaplot itself. There will be a reward for the finishing the quest. Below I have outlined the things you would possibly see in either style.
Information that you might see is listed below:
Basic Information
In either style there will be a few paragraphs giving general information on the setting. Sometimes a map will be included and other times it will not be.
In Direct Questing, the information will be an OC summary. In Indirect Questing, it will be written as an IC post.
The Problem
For Direct Questing, there will be a paragraph outlining the trouble which is the point of the quest itself. An example is below:
Quote:
Both theft and sabotage are causing trouble at the docks right now. Food stuffs have even been broken into and eaten. Are these events connected or simply random? Noone seems to know for certain, but Dockmaster Torm is fed up with it all. Not just an item or two, but entire crates are either disappearing or being damaged beyond use. It seems that the rarest of supplies, those with limited quantities, are usually what seems to be touched although this is not always so.
For Indirect Questing, there will be nothing. Everything you need to know will be contained in the IC posts I present to you.
Reward
This area will list what you get as a result of accomplishing your task. It will vary so do not expect it to always be the same reward as someone else gets. It could be anything from an item or special encounter to a ghostling NPC from your quest or even one created from a character you introduced. There are even perks for going above and beyond what is asked for in the quest. It will always be listed in the first post whether Direct or Indirect.
What You Need To Do IC
For Direct Questing, this area contains a listing of what must be included in the questing. How you do it or what order it is done, is entirely up to you. Just make sure you have accomplished it all before your quest is turned in.
Here is a partial example of what you might see:
Quote:
Post #1 : Write an interaction with Dockmaster Torm getting all the information you need. Meet Winchester and gain his help. He will do anything you need done, limited to what a sailor of his skill would be capable of. He will travel with you not only as guide but to help defend you should the need arise.
Post #2 : Check each ship for information. Look at the sailors, the goods, the ships, and any trouble that occurs there. Describe what you see as well as give ship names and feel free to name sailors, dockworkers, and describe the area.
Post #3 : Check the people who have access to any of the docks and warehouses and see if anyone knows anything. Include the old fishermen who sit on the docks day or night. Perhaps they have seen something or nothing. It is up to you to create the atmosphere of the warehouses and people there.
For Indirect Questing, this section is not necessary as you will be guided the entire way.
OC Notes
In Direct Questing, I will add information on NPC limitations, time limit, basic rules for replying, and any clues that I feel may help you along your way.
Here is an example of Direct Questing OC Notes:
Quote:
You can use this form for the report, but the length is up to you. Just be sure to include all the information asked for or that you have figured out.

There should be at least 4-6 decent paragraphs per post. Have fun with it. Play with new characters. Play with the NPCs listed below as you see fit. Play with descriptions of the area. It is up to you to create the small details that make it live. And if it is longer than what has been outlined, additional perks might be rewarded.
NPCs that you may freely control are : Dockmaster Torm, Winchester, Captain Jamison. They may have information or clues that you need or they may have nothing at all to tell you. You decide, but only Winchester will travel along with you.
One post a week is sufficient, but if you finish the quest sooner, simply let me know.
In Indirect Questing, I may add information on NPC limitations, time limit, and any clues that I feel you may need to help you along your way whenever I feel it necessary. If there is a form, it will be included when needed.
The biggest difference between the two is that with Direct Questing, you get all your information at one time and are allowed to create. In Indirect Questing, you are guided to the information leaving you to react. It is up to you how much of a challenge you want.
One last tidbit... For those who choose Direct Questing, do not think this gets you entirely out of the unpredictable happening. Expect the unexpected when you least expect it. I am not above tossing in a problem along the way just to make it even more interesting for you to deal with. When you state your quest is finished, then I will post the quest results on the thread. This will include basic information on how you did, your reward, and perhaps a small clue to something else coming up later.
Above all, remember this... Obey Gaia ToS, the shop rules, and have fun. Enjoy your quests.
