The easyest way I think is to start with the four gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John then from there Proverbs and Pslams The Bible is one that startin from the beginning maynot be the best idea for new Christains exspeally
I believe that reading about when Christ gave his life at the cross and learning about God's great love for us would be the best to read and grow on first and getting a good start and foundation will help in a long run and short term as well....Though time we grow in Christ getting to know our God more and more and starting off good will help growth in the future....Though Proverbs and Pslams most likely isn't on everyones list on where to start I sure that the four gospels should be, but hey that can be untrue too, but this is what I believe would be the best start
I decided to post this because I have met alot of new christains and the two things that are questioned alot along with other things is where to start in the bible and how to pray....I had this problem when I first started as well as I'm sure that most christains if not all have and reading God's word and praying are how we get to know our Lord which is the most importaint part because it's how we build a stronger relationship with the Lord
I also believe that it would be best to pray for the Lord to speak to you and give you understanding of his word before starting reading.....No matter how many times you read there will be things the Lord shows you though his word and hold off on showing you so even if reading something that you already have praying before hand will help clear you mind so that you are fulling open to what God what's to show you though his word
^_^ If anyone has anything to add or something different that would be great having more options would be great ^_^ Also as I find more options or anything else that needs to be stated I'll be adding as well ^_^

I think a good way is to start off with the gospels and at the same time read from the beginning. Like to read Matthew and Genesis. I like reading a piece of the OT with a piece of the NT.

Yes the Gospels are pretty nice... But Revelations...It kinda gets them scared if you know what I mean. Introduce it to them and act like there is no way out of it, but then give them a turning point. Taking them to the Gospels, show them Jesus' life. If they have any questions well... Answer it with the bible =).

.... I personally am not an advocate of "scare them with revelations".... I think people get the wrong idea when it comes to following the Lord... It is written that the Lord desires those who seek him in spirit and in truth... that he wants a people who will worship him with their whole heart... so then, a person who goes to him out of fear isn't someone who's falling madly in love with him because of how awesome and great he can be.
This is what i tell a lot of people who are just starting in christianity. My counsel is this: read the gospels... then read them again... and maybe one more time... then, back that up with psalms, then proverbs. then maybe acts and romans.. also, try keeping a dictionary and concordance nearby. But... the reason why I really advocate the gospels is really simple. Fact is... let's say a newborn christian doesn't read anything else. The Gospels contain all of Jesus' teachings... and to me, isn't even just about the cross and his sacrifice... while that is the cornerstone and foundation to everything else... i mean.. that's only the starting point... from there... once you're born again.. Jesus has a way he wants us to live and interact with others. He has defined what he considers as loving one another and loving those who are unloveable. When you read the gospels and how he reacted to various stuff and his thoughts on things.. you really get to know him. and, then you can really develop a relationship with him based on knowing how he feels directly about somethings.
Because even paul said you follow after Christ not men.. and that if he ever did anything that departed from his original message: for them not to follow him.. but to follow after the obedience of Christ.... and if anyone is to do that.. they really need to understand Christ's teachings. a new believer NEEDS to make themself a disciple of Christ and love his way. If you never read anything else.. but really took to heart what jesus taught... I'm sure you'd see amazing dramatic results in the kind of person you become to be.
I mean... you hear so many people in the churches and online and what-have-you about being "christ like" or "what would jesus do"... but it's horridly disproportionate to the number of people who don't really incorporate those things into their daily lives... in a very sad way... in their minds nad words it sounds nice and good.. but many find it way to difficult to do them. things like loving your enemies... putting others before yourself... loving people who deserve the least of your love.
cuz let me tell you.. when you really are in love with Jesus.. others see it... you don't even have to say it. people see it in you.. and those who can't recognize him.. they will wonder. i have many friends on gaia who are not christians.. or some who are anti.. but wherein they mock others.. they have left me alone.. because they see that my love for him is real.. not just some show i put on for others to see... I keep waiting.. cuz one girl in particular loves to hear me talk about my testimonies. She says it's really rare that she finds anyone who holds to their personal faith in such an intimate way. and that's not an amen for me.. that's an amen for the Love of Christ breaking through people's walls!

Yes the gospels are the best start and it's not enough to just read them once because you learn something new when God speaks to you in different ways. That's why you can never be fully down reading the Bible. God may keep something for later and then bring it out to you though his word. We get to know are Lord though prayer and reading his word. By reading his word you can hear him easier because your faith and relationship with him is stronger and you know his voice better. Yes the best way to witness to others is living for Christ and being a light in a dark world. God deserves all the glory in everything and we must live in that way. Putting other first and loving even the unloveabe. It's the ppl we don't like are the ones we really need to reach. Satan is trying to keep you from talking to the person because he's scared of what God can do though you to reach the soul of that person and save them. You must remember to pray and read the word. Take care of where you fall short and ask God for forgiveness and repent before trying to help others with theirs. It'll be like a blind man trying to lead a blind man.
