History and Arrival
History((yay for old traditional names!)
Tragedy One and MovingLiberty's mother Diane died giving birth to her only child, Liberty. Richard Hill, Liberty's father was devastated, but he had Liberty who was the apple of his eye. The only other relatives that the family stayed in contact with was Richard's estranged sister, Sylvia, lovingly nicknamed Sylvie. Richard hadn't told Liberty why he and his sister were at odds and he never had the chance to. When Liberty was six years old her father and best friend passed away due to a heart attack. Liberty was left orphaned and was "kindly" taken in by Sylvia.
Sylvia had a son two years older than Libby, Clarence Albert Whittle, nicknamed Lance by Libby which was quickly picked up by those around her. Lance quickly become the missing support beam in Libby's life after her father passed. The pair was like brother and sister and Libby affectionately gave Lance another nickname, Berry in reference to his middle name. The very old traditional names in the family became a running inside joke between the duo and whenever Lance became irked about his real full name Libby would always joke that Clarence wasn't as bad as Wilhelm which he had been very close to being named, or Herman, Walter and a variety of other names that would have been bad as well. At least Clarence had a good nickname. The dynamic duo were practically inseparable and it was obvious that they loved each other dearly, the it was equally that Libby's aunt and uncle, Lance's parents, weren't nearly as thrilled to have Libby present and showed great favoritism towards their son. Had they not have been stuck with her due to family obligation she would have likely been sent to a foster home, which they threatened her with daily. Not only was Berry Liberty's rock he was also her shield and refuge. He would stand against his parents for her, and soothe her when she was sad. He stood by her and she by him.
Tragedy Two - BerryAnother tragedy struck Liberty when she was 14. She was a freshman in high school and Lance was a junior, he was 16 and would soon turn 17. One night the pair was lying in their beds, their rooms were conjoined through a jack-and-jill bath and the two doors were open allowing them to speak to each other through it. That was when Lance admitted to Libby that he thought he may be gay. Libby sat up in her bed, shocked but not totally surprised. She entered his room to find him already sitting up. She loved him no less than before and convinced him to tell his parents. Big mistake. His parents took his confession very badly and threatened to kick him out from the house. Libby felt terrible and when Lance didn't leave his room for two days she went out to get him something special. When she returned her aunt and uncle were out as usual. She left her coat in the closet and carried a box of fresh cupcakes to his room despite the strict no eating in bedrooms rule, they had never followed it anyway. She gripped the cool gold knob, it was locked but Libby was surprised how else could he keep out intruders? He and Libby had stolen the only keys to unlock room doors. She sighed and decided to go through her room, what truly shocked her was that the bathroom door linking the bathroom to his room was closed and locked. Neither of the doors were ever closed unless someone was in the restroom or was changing. She knocked on the door. No answer. The boy was either sleeping or still moping about she thought. She knocked louder. No reply. She started to get worried, banging and screaming did nothing the cupcakes had already been set on her bed when she reached into her pillow for a key. Shaking hands barely managed to unlock the door. The white door opened into the blue room and the small gold key dropped from Libby's hand and fell onto the floor, its landing muffled by the carpeting. Lance was hanging in is room. Literally.
Liberty screamed. The usually rosy face of her cousin was a pasty white and a thick rope was looped around his neck. "Clarence!"... ((more to be added later))
lived with her aunt and uncle since age 6 because her mother died giving birth to her and her dad when she was 6 of a heart attack. Neither he aunt nor her uncle liked Liberty very much, they were actually so pleased to see her leaving that they drove her to the Asylum.
Unusually enough, no one forced Liberty to go to the Asylum she chose on her own after the death of David. aka her boyfriend, closest friend, soulmate, and even life. He died at age 18 the day after their highschool graduation, which was the same day as Liberty's 18th birthday. David was in a car accident while going to pick Liberty up for a belated birthday dinner. David was driven in an amblulance to a nearby hospital where he said his dying words to Liberty. He quoted one of her favorite movies
Titanic, repeating to her the same words Jack told Rose while she was floating on the door and he in the ice cold ocean.
