Jianyu let out a derisive snort. "Disaster would be appropriate, yes." he teased, then moved his arm up to allow Yue to crawl next to him, her head resting against his chest before dropping it back down again around her slender shoulders. She took his hand, her fingers gentle, and pressed her lips to his palm, tasting the fruit from his skin. He smiled at her, and pulled her close, resting his fingers on the top of her head. It was...relaxing. Calm. The only sound was that of his heartbeat and the sounds of their breathing, and it was soothing, as was the playful smile Yue gave him, the almost hesitant way she reached across him, taking his hand in hers and linking their grape-sticked fingers together. Jianyu felt at peace, his worries slipping away, the stress and strife of his normal everyday life fading to rest just beneath the surface. His best friend was, as usual, a balming effect when it came to his well-being.
"Nah." Jianyu said quietly, his fingers gently threading through Yue's sticky, soaked hair. "I've thought of a much better nickname than 'disaster' for someone like you, Yue Lao."
The house was quiet. The cloth around his blind eye was sticky and uncomfortable, but Jianyu did not feel up to moving. He let his body relax, closing his eyes and letting a small smile grace his face as his lips curved upwards.
"Stargazer." he said. "I'll call you Stargazer."

If Yue wasn't covered in sticky grape juice, she would have fallen asleep there, her head against his chest, listening to his heart beat. It was really nice to have a best friend, one she cared for so much. Who else would lie in pools of their own grape juice with her? No one but Jianyu, as far as she knew. "At least we see eye to eye," she murmured quietly, pressing into Jianyu a little without realizing, relishing the contact.
"Oh? Someone like me?" Yue laughed softly. She really was falling asleep, but she needed to wash all the grape goo off before she could sleep. The back of her neck was itchy, where the small, grape-coated stray hair tickled her skin.
Yue smiled, too, when he gave her the first nickname anyone but her mother had ever given her. It was kind of funny, what with all the names she bestowed on others, that it had taken until now for someone to recognize her as worth naming. Yue Lao thought about it, and decided it was a perfect nickname, if only because it was from Yu, and it reminded her of the calm after the storm. "Stargazer? Yu, the only star I see is you," Yue giggled, being ridiculous again, "It's a wonderful name. I'll use it as an excuse to stare at you for hours on end," she added, nuzzling into his chest a little, though the cloth stuck to her cheek.
"I think we may have to skip the first step next time, Yu," she mumbled, thinking about their attempt at wine-brewing. "On top of that, you taste delicious in grapes. I'm going to turn you into a drink," she murmurred, a smile across her lips, her eyes closed. She squeezed his hand, and relaxed against him. She was so relaxed that the words just kept tumbling out.

"I am no star." Jianyu said softly, his voice barely audible, even in the quiet house. "Far from it."
He had grown up a member of a neutral family, his only intentions that of joining the Legion. From a very early age, Jianyu had believed that only the Legion was the side that would win, that the Legionnaires would be the ones to prevail in the end, to be the victors. His family, despite their neutrality, had done their best, supporting him in decision, preparing him for the Academy and helping to train him from a young age. His father, though a former member of the Legion army, had long since given up his post as Captain in order to do the things that he loved; such as his tattooing. However, he had taken the time to train Jianyu, to teach him to fight.
And fight he had. Jianyu had been in more fights, had fought more battles, had killed more people than he could recall. He had long since stopped keeping track of just how many people's lives he had taken. The idea that Yue thought of him as a star; something bright, something beautiful, was laughable, ludicrous even. He wanted to say something, but he restrained himself; now was not the time, especially not after the last words that Yue murmured. Jianyu felt a small wave of confusion drift through him. He was not quite certain as to the meaning behind those words, but they felt...different. Not in a particularly bad way, but like he had missed something under them.
But no matter. It had been too good of an afternoon to spoil it with overthinking things. Jianyu turned his head, intent on asking Yue something when he noticed that her eyes had long since fluttered shut and she was sound asleep, her breathing slow and steady. He was not certain as to how she had managed to sleep covered in grape juice, but then again, he himself was tired. Smiling gently, Jianyu leaned forward, kissing the top of her sticky head. Then he leaned back, closed his eyes, and relaxed into the moment.
