Well, it is fall. And here in New England, that means APPLE PICKING! I can't wait to go pick apples, drink apple cider and eat fresh apple cider doughnuts (my favorite!!!). Of course, after all that gallivanting about in an orchard, what to do with the apples? i want to bake an apple pie! Now, I've done this once before with an oatmeal crust, but I don't particularly like things made of oatmeal (except oatmeal it's self). Does anyone have any yummy recipes for apple pie and crust? Please share!

I forgot all about this thread! I made up my own recipe based on a few different ones that I cobbled together, in order to invent: Apple Crisp Pie. So GOOD! I'll post pics and maybe my secret recipe later xD

Okay, probably not still interested, but I thought I'd post my recipe for homemade apple pie =) I got this from my friend's grandmother, who's passed away now, so it's a real treasure to me. I think of her every time I bake it 3nodding It's very simple and oldschool, a breeze to put together but takes a bit of prep work if you don't have an apple corer/peeler/slicer.
Grandma's Apple Pie
Ingredients: 6 cups peeled and sliced apples (green for a balanced pie, red for a really sweet pie) 3/4 cup sugar 1 tbs flour 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/8 tsp salt honey slight lemon juice sprinkled over apples (keeps from browning) dots of butter
Combine everything but the apples and butter in a bowl. Fill pie crust with apples. Pour sugar mixture over apples. Drizzle with honey, dot with butter, and cover with crust.
Bake at 425F for 10 minutes, then at 350F for another 45 minutes.
I posted a picture of one of mine in the food porn thread, with a lattice crust. heart I can't WAIT for our neighbor's apples to start falling again!
